KursadA
I have been working on these two sheets for a while - they will be part of my rather busy May line-up, and will cover most Air National Guard units that flew the "Six". Markings for both single and twin-seaters will be included, in anticipation of the Trumpeter kit.
Viasistina
Very nice. I wish there was a new 1/72 kit we could count on for similar scale decals.
skyhawk174
Hi Kursad I did not realize that you had started this thread when I asked my question in the other thread. It is great that you the ANG units are in your plans as they sure do have some great schemes. Looking forward to the MA aircraft. Love that baby blue colour scheme for some reason. Oh and one cannot forget the Michigan checkerboard. At least I will n ot have to go get the OOP Superscale and the not so great Experts Choice sheets. Much prefer to pay you some money for really great decals that are correct. Thanks for all your hard work keeping my wallet empty :) My wife needs to speak to you ;)
Siamese11
Hi KursadA, I is great that you are going to do the F-106 decals. I'm very much looking forward to picking up a few of the A and B kits. I am looking forward to doing the MANG ones for sure and maybe a few other units.
Niels
Any more teasers to share, Kursad :)
KursadA
Here is one more. I am done designing the markings, but will need to work on the layout for a couple of days to get everything to fit. Note: Obviously the sheet will include the distinctive drop tank markings for every unit - I happened to have drawn the initial side views without drop tanks, I will add drop tanks by the time I finish the layout and post final drafts of the profiles. Viperguy
Hope you do some NJ Air Guard ones.
KursadA
I did all ANG units that flew the F-106 (CA,FL,MA,MI,MT,NJ); hence the difficulty of getting them to fit on two sheets. I will most likely do an active-duty F-106 sheet later in the summer, too. Edited April 5, 2014 by KursadA
DutchThud
Looking good so far Kursad.
82Whitey51
Very nice... I want to add the MA ANG "B" to my shelf...
KursadA
Can't forget these guys - their markings tend to look good on any plane.
Jabba29
Can't forget these guys - their markings tend to look good on any plane. That will be another model to the collection of Michigan ANG aircraft.
skyhawk174
So I am betting that your sheets sell out and will probably prove to be one of your top sellers or at least I sure hope it is. I am certainly going to help :) I also hope that you will consider the regular USAF squadrons some time in the future especially the ones with the special markings which I believe are wing commanders. From what I recall these had stripes of various colours on the fuselage. Thanks again for the wonderful decals. My wallet is still hurting.
KursadA
Tonight's installment is Florida: I am definitely considering some regular AF squadrons as well, in fact I started drawing them. More on these later.
kenlilly106
I am definitely considering some regular AF squadrons as well, in fact I started drawing them. More on these later. I'd like to put in a vote for the 438 FIS based out of Kincheloe AFB MI, I've never seen these markings on a decal sheet before. Ken
KursadA
Note to self: avoid corny "Sopranos" joke here.
GeorgeAFBbuilder
Tonight's installment is Florida: I am definitely considering some regular AF squadrons as well, in fact I started drawing them. More on these later. Please do consider regular AF squadrons. There are several squadrons that have never been featured on any decal sheets. For example, the 329th FIS from George AFB, CA and the 438th FIS from Kincheloe AFB, MI. I'm sure there are many others as well. I really want the 329th, though! KursadA
As I mentioned, I am working on some active duty AF units as well - but I have to get these two sheets finished and printed first. Meanwhile, here is the last one in the series:
KursadA
It was somewhat difficult to fit three unit markings on each sheet, but I think I am almost done - will post the final profiles within a couple of days and send them to be printed.
skyhawk174
Ok great news, getting close :) I guess I could use the sheets on one of the several Monogram kits in my stash to get the F-106 bug out of my system until the Trumpeter kit comes along.
Emvar
Certainly brings back some warm and fuzzy memories of going through my Parents Library of National Geographic Magazines from the Late 60's and early 70's. jenshb
Kursad, I'm not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but wouldn't it be wise to delay the release until you've had a chance to check the artwork against the Trumpeter plastic? Right now we're all assuming that it's going to be..."heavily inspired"... by the Monogram kit, but sometimes Trumpeter/HobbyBoss do an unexptected twist that may cause these decals to not fit as well as they ought to. The Michigan and Montana ANG need matching to the rudder in span and chord, they need to match the slope of the tailfin , as does the New Jersey and Massachusetts markings... KursadA
Hi Jens, This sheet is not specifically targeted at the Trumpeter kit : I was going to release these sheets this year even if there was no Trumpeter kit on the horizon. I believe it's not very likely for Trumpeter to mess up the shape that much considering the existence of accurate kits and information, and if they manage to get it wrong, so be it. I believe there is enough pent-up demand for these markings to go with the thousands of Monogram kits in circulation worldwide. The decal sheet instructions will state that they were designed for the Monogram kit; and the F-106B serial numbers are just a bonus which will be handy if the Trumpeter kit matches the Monogram kit closely as I am expecting. KursadA
The first F-106A/B sheet is coming in late July, and will feature markings for Florida, Massachusetts, and Montana. The second sheet (CD48061) is due in August and will cover the rest of the ANG operators of the Six (California, Michigan and New Jersey). There are separate, smaller sheets for stencilling, national insignia and serial numbers.
