1/48 Tamiya F-16C Block 25/32

Recommended Posts

Title says it all.

It's now on pre-order and is due in March.

Tammiya F-16C Block 25/32

There's also a F-16 detail set? I'm guessing it must be the scab plates.

Jason C.

Wooow, I prayed for double seater, but this is goood to   :nanner::nanner:

BTW Why "must be" - scab plates is added to these aircrafts after some revisions - it is not on new planes...

Ok so is this the fabled Thunderbirds release?

As much as I am looking forward to a certain companies Vipers, I look at them as differant between the airforces and not the Block differances. So this will be a normal inlet early 1990's vintage Viper then?

I have a feeling that we are gonna see lots of Desert Storm declas in the near future!!!!!

.. the 363rd has been covered enough with Elite Decals. So, if they do DS decals for Block 25, I hope it would be for the 10th TFS. The only sheet that covered that squadron was the old Super Scale F-16 DS sheet which was lacking.

The time frame isn't the issue Matt, its the block number that makes the difference, as "early 90s" US F-16s wre built with both GE/MCID and Pratt/NSI engine/intake configurations. This realease includes the parts necessary for an earlier block viper than the 40/50 series, with either Pratt or GE motors.

I thought anything after block 25 with a 0 at the end was GE with MCID (excluding early block 30s which were NSI) and a 2 at the end was P&W with NSI?

So a block 23/32 release would surely only contain the one type of inlet (NSI) and nozzle (P&W) not two - I'm guessing you have inside info, so is this release really fot a block 25/*30*/32 despite the name stating only 25/32?

Hmm, yes, a wide mouth block 30 would be a real treat!

No, what I mean is you can get to any C model block between the 2 kits, the block 50 and the block 32. Engine/exhaust from the block 50 kit on a block 32 kit yields a block 30. Engine/exhaust from the block 32 kit on the block 50 kit yields a block 42 or 52.

That would certainly be the way to go about it.

Hope that Tamiya includes the early style AIM-9 launch rails to widen the possibilities for us all.

How about both early and late style MLG wheel hubs?

OK F-16 gurus, can this new Tamiya Viper be made into a F-16N?

If it can I am getting me five of those babies!

......and yes the F-16N is my favorite version of the Viper.

Daniel

Yep! F-16N's were early block 30's, small mouth's and GE motors, so you will need the exhaust from the block 50 kit but with whats left, you can build a block 42 or 52. The OK ANG birds are 42's as are a lot of the test fleet and the South Carolina ANG jets and MO's 389th from OEF were both block 52's so there's no shortage of things to do with the bits. I can see a lot horse trading of parts going on actually! Time to start digging through the ANG and aggressor decals....

Edit: Scratch that actually. To do a 42 or 52 out of what's left would require a small mouth intake as well. For the N the best thing would be to pick up an aftermarket GE pipe from Dr Pepper I believe?? It's still morning here..

At midnight US Mountain time it was 42 to 26 Kinetic.

I suspect the Kinetic thread will end up being longer because it's a new, unknown kit, and there are a lot of parts shots in the thread.

The Tamiya kit is already somewhat of a known item since the CJ kit has been out and picked over for a while now.

Grate news for us europeans also. With some modifications a NSI/Pratt Block 32 can be "backdated" to a Block 10/15 AM without to much hassle.

So get the best of both worlds, use Tamiya kit as a base and grab the MLU mod's and some of the weapons from the Kinetic release

Hmm, I think you would have problems fitting the narrow A/B tail onto the Tamiya fuselage. The base of the C/D tail is a bit bigger IIRC.
