  1. Ok, I don't know how, but eBay has now combined the shipping of the 2 items ($18.00) plus $5.00 shipping, for a total of $23.00. Weird....
  2. Hi, I just tried to purchase the ramps and the F-14 etch set, and waned to ask about combined shipping. I was told that you don't offer that. Have to say that kind of browns me off the purchase.... I mean, shipping $5.00 shipping for the $8.00 resin bits is "ok". But to add another $5.00 to include a $10.00 etch sheet in the same box, for a total of $28.00 is asking a bit much. M
  3. This is my Revell B. Won me Model of the Year at my club, IPMS Bong in Milwaukee, and was featured in FSM mag. Fun kit! Would like to do a single seater at some point. M
  4. I'm wanting to build a 1/48 P-40N in RAAF markings. My preferred kit would be the Hasegawa, but it seems as though they are OOP, and I can't find one anywhere. Anyone have any leads on one?? Cheers, Matthew
  5. The thing with white (well, any paint really) is to not rush it! If you try and get full coverage in one pass, you are not going to be happy with the results! Several light passes to build the depth of paint up is what's needed. By "un-thinned" what do you mean? Spraying un-thinned paint brings it's own problems. Spider webs, poor flow from the airbrush (assuming here you're using an airbrush) I use Tamiya white primer as abase for white, decanted out of the soray can, with a little bt of Tamiya lacquer thinner added to aid flow. This stuff covers like nobody's business! But you still need
  6. Don't forget the anti glare stripe on the nose!!! Looking good Steve!! M
  7. Not meaning to sound condescending, but being able to do that scheme will require practice, an understanding of how to thin your paint, and what type of paint to use. Practice on a junker model first, then attempt the real one. FWIW.... M
  8. Or there are these.... http://northstarmodels.com/product/148-mcdonnel-douglas-f-15-eagle-abcd-wheels-set-no-mask/ M
  9. Just as a point to note, ammonia removes chrome plating, and does nasty things to bare brass..... FWIW. M
  10. TomcatFantatic is right, however, we have an issue with what we're actually doing here. If we were to take a carefully built model, and replicated the the canopy "exactly" in 1/48 or what ever scale, I can just hear the judges taking off points for the scratches and poor paint work! M
  11. Hi Spencer, Thanks for putting the video up. Something that struck me, was that it seemed as though you weren't too worried about the underlying structure dictating where the rivets go. "Divide the panel in half, apply rivets, divide that in half apply rivets, etc" I admire that! I think my "anal retentive" kicks in a bit much and I just can't bring myself to "not be accurate". Of course I find myself not doing some things because of this. I need to let some of that go!!! Thanks again for the video! Matthew
  12. Which Eduard set are the pylons included in?? TIA, M
  13. Thanks for the replies everyone. Some years ago I made a Tamiya 1/48 P-47D in the markings of Don Gentile. I mixed the underside gray, something like the 50/50 ratio (This is going on my memory of at least 15 years ago) and was surprised, yet pleased by the dark colour that eventuated. It looked unlike anything else I had seen before then on the model show tables. May just have to do it again and see what comes of it! Will post pictures! Thanks again for all the contributions and thoughts! M
  14. Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the fact that it is darker than some people portray. I do remember someone quoting an official USAAF order though, that stated the percentage of black to white that was to be used to make Neutral Gray. Similarly, there was a specified percentage of yellow zinc chromate primer mixed with black to arrive at the interior green that was used by US manufacturers. In both instances, it wasn't just "black", but "something" black, I just can't recall what, or the percentages M
  15. The Neutral Gay as used by the USAAF in WWII was a mix of black and white. Does anyone know the ratio? TIA, M
  16. Lovely work! Where did you get the bomb rack and practice bombs? M
  17. Is there still more work to d on the canopy? It looks like the relation between the top of the canopy and the windscreen is better (?), but the canopy sill is still angled down, and tapered, where-as it should be horizontal and straight. I'm really not trying to be overly picky, sorry if I'm causing heartache M
  18. G'day! I'm wondering if there are any after market decals for the Japanese Phantoms in the 2 tone blue Sea scheme? I know there is a Hasegawa kit of the recon Phantom in this scheme, but what about the gun nose?? TIA, M
