  1. Ben The practice is called "inter mix". The performance calculations were based on the 3A1 engine data rather than 3B1, assuming a worse case scenario of the 3B1 engine failing
  2. Very nice looking "Pig"........well done. Devan
  3. The Lufthansa kit arrived today and the window decals are NOT the same shape/size as the bmi/Austrian ones even though both decal sheets are done by Daco. Devan
  4. Everyone Thanks for the replies and the suggestions. I emailed Revell with the part number for the decal sheet and have not heard back from them. If worse comes to worse, I will just order the Lufthansa kit and use the decals. I want to built an America West A320 (I have the IAE engines already from another kit) and needed the kit anyway. Devan
  5. I hear you. Almost more time spent buying and trading stuff than building

  6. This may be harder than I thought. So far, the only ones I've been able to find searching pictures were the bmi/Austrian for the A319 and the Lufthansa sheet for the A320. The rest just have the silver frames only.
  7. I've built 1 A320 and 2 319's. I don't recall what the A320 had since it was so long ago. The 319's had both the silver frames and the black window decals. You make an interesting comment on the Revell cockpit decal you have being the wrong size. The Revell, Draw, and Liveries Unlimited Airbus passenger windows are all a different shape and size which is why I am on the hunt for the Revell ones. I have both a cockpit decal from a Liveries Unlimited and Draw sheet I didn't use. It's all yours if you want. PM me your address etc and I'll get it on its way. Devan
  8. Phat I'll try that out. I didn't know Revell did that. Thanks! Street If they can send the entire sheet, it should have both. Devan
  9. I am in need of some help. I wrecked several of the black windows with silver frames on Frontier A319 I am buidling. Does anyone have about 12-15 windows from this kit they could cut loose? Devan
  10. As others have said, this isn't Russ' day job and he was having some problems with his internet service I believe. I've placed two orders recently and he just filled one. His website says he's getting to the orders and be patient. I've done a ton of business with Russ over the years and highly recommend him.
  11. Very nice, Ruben. What did you make the gravel/FOD deflectors out of? Pretty cool.
  12. I think AA's livery is timeless. It will look good in 20 years (they aren't going away folks).
  13. Rich I was wondering what you were going to do with the tail to make this a 200, but I see in the last photo that you've fixed that. Very cool. I've always been too chicken to do this. Devan
  14. I have had the same thing happen, only with lacquer based paint. I started using small glass jars that individual servings of jam/jelly come in. I can mix whatever paint I want and keep a jar of lacquer thinner handy for quick clean up.
  15. I used to paint the inlets by hand and they looked like crap most of the time. I finally found a technique on the internet by a guy in Finland named Juha Stenberg that many others apparently use as well. He uses very thin strips of 3M Fine Line tape that will conform to odd shapes such as these inlets. The tape is more of a plastic than a normal masking tape and is very flexible which allows you to very slowly follow the engraved portion that defines the inlet. While my results don't match Juha's, they are 1000 times better than before. Check out his work on various modeling websites.
  16. I think it looked good on some airplanes, and not so good on others. I don't think it looked good on the 727, 737, 767, or DC-10. It looked good on the A320, 757, 747, and 777 though.
  17. Chris How did you sand down that much putty around the plugs you put in? Very impressive work. Devan
  18. Dunelimo I am speechless. Stunning work on somethings I would not even begin to attempt. But I absolutely salute your work and you sharing the progress. My modeling has improved 1000 percent since I've gotten involved in these message boards by seeing what others do or have learned along the way. I can do a lot more now than when I got back into the hobby 10 years ago and hope to get better each model I build. That's really what these message boards are all about. Devan
  19. The TWA airplane you refer to is a Martin 404, not a Convair. Devan
  20. Very cool. I read about the B-17 being used as a weather test bed in Bob Buck's book "North Star Over My Shoulder"
  21. I've never bought anything from him, but there are dozens of posts from people that have on Ahmed's site (airliner cafe). Bogus tracking numbers, partial shipments, no shipments. I'm surprised that ebay is still letting this guy do business.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys. I actually got the D kit at Michaels for around $15. I built it several years ago and didn't really care for the decals (sparse). I'll see if I can find an A kit.
  23. I have a 1/48 Revell Super Tomcat kit and want to do it in the A-model instead. The after market decals have better subject matter. What do I need (or not do) to make a D into an A? Devan
  24. The incident you mention of the engine falling off the wing was an American DC-10, not Pan Am.
