  1. ..............yeah, man..I miss the Tomcat too..but really, it's over. The Hornet's a fine aircraft, no need to have an stroke about it
  2. Oh the life of a F-22 pilot.. Must be hard, Eh Waco?
  3. He obviously did not put enough counter weight in, that model is a side-sitter. Wait..you mean it isnt a model? :D
  4. Gotta love seeing F-4's still flying. Thanks for the pics!
  5. The CoV must have some....... Because they are EXTREME!!!!! :D
  6. Point Mugu 2000: Both a F-14A and F-14D Tomcat demo, also a quasi-legacy flight with a Phantom, F6F and a Tomcat flying in formation. Point Mugu 2002: One I would rather forget, as that was when the QF-4S crashed, killing Navy Cmdr. Michael Norman, pilot, and Marine Corps Capt. Andrew Muhs. Sentry Eagle 2003 and 2005 at Kingsley Field: Always great to see such a collection of aircraft, plus the departures and arrivals are fun as hellsbells to watch too.
  7. Actually I think it all started as a question to Waco about.....scifi I think.... ...... So yeah, how about them Cowboys huh? got whomped on by the Giants...... yeah.....
  8. *drives his head thru a wall for even bringing this upon this board*
  9. Nice Waco, very nice. Quick question for you, are all fighter pilots more ....predisposed to the sci-fi type of film? Do future F-22 pilots train strictly to hit the thermal exhaust port, right below the main port? ;)
  10. Also, In an episode of "48 Hours" onboard the USS John F. Kennedy, some VF-32 Alpha's went out and did DACT against F-15's, it wasnt revealed as to who "won" but there was HUD footage shown as well as a "Kill" call by the F-14's against the Eagles. Apparently it was a 2 V 4 in favor of the Eagles, fight.
  11. :D Well, in talking to a few of the IP's over at Kingsley, this is a paraphrased account of what he said "The A models were really not to terribly great. When we got in close we could usually get them at the merge, those TF-30's really sucked bad. But, when the B's and D's started coming around, with those big engines, they could really put on the heat and suprise you with their power and acceleration, and could kill you if you got arrogant and forgot that the other guy wasnt some washed up third string type." When asked what he thought was the better fighter? "The F-15, there's really n
  12. I dont know Murph, but both the Superscale sheet 48-1063 and one of the pilots at Kingsley refered to him as "Shoot".
  13. According to the local paper, by 2008 Kingsley Field and the 173rd FW of the Oregon ANG is expected to be solely responcible for Active Air Force and Air National Guard training on the F-15 after Tyndall gets out of the F-15 training business. The paper quotes the commander, Col. Tom "Shoot" Schiess as saying the facility will recieve 25 additional F-15's to the 173rd, bringing it's compliment to around 40-45 F-15's. In addition, some 136 new positions are going to be added. Can anyone confirm this? if so, we're about to see alot more Eagles over Southern Oregon skies! Link to article.
  14. Hahahaha, this is a really funny joke, you know. Those guys at the Navy and 31 sure have a great way of getting to us. I mean, this is a joke right guys? ...... Guys?.......guys? In reality, I really didnt think I would be feeling as I do about this. It's a mixture of sadness, but also knowing that the Tomcat has done it's job, and it's time for it to sleep.
  15. Great looking models Darren! Congrats again, also, thanks a million for the decals, it is exactly what I needed! Also..last I checked..Darren keeps himself running by large supplies of coffee and McRiblets from McDonalds......just dont tell Waco that...
  16. Wow, good luck to you Darren, I'm sure most of us would be extremely grateful to even meet the Blues. Make sure you keep us informed! Or...the banana might become agitated
  17. I've seen a few Eagles that faded at the ANG shop here in Oregon. It largely happens in spring after the Eagles have been flying in really nasty weather then sitting out in the sun. Usually they get a nice paintjob in March/April and are nice and sexy again. Also, anyone else notice how rich those P&W's are running? hardly any black streaks there, only white! Sierra Hotel pic though!
  18. They were C models and flown by Lt. Nick Mongilio and Lt. Cmdr. Mark Fox from the Saratoga. It Kinda goes like this. E2: Warns of incomming Iraqi MiG-21's. Hornets: Intercept, with a full load of bombs as well, down the MiG's with Aim 9's and 7's. Hornets: Continue with bombing mission and return safely to the Sara. As far as Squadrons, I know, as Paul said, that the Hornets were from VFA-81 "The Sunliners". The warload is as Paul stated, so no need to repeat it. Also, the F-14A+ (F-14B) from VF-103(then the Sluggers) that was shot down was also from the Saratoga, as was the F/A-
  19. Favorite Prop Driven Fighter: The F4U Corsair, early family variants. Fast, manuverable and above all, killer looks to match it's killer capabilities . As they progressed and the nose became longer and longer, it lost it's appeal. The closest runner up has to be the P-51. It's just a nimble little killer. Favorite Jet Fighter Easily the F-15C. Although she's aging, she's still kept her grace, beauty and razor sharp talons. Runner up would be the F-14A-D. They worked hard, and adapted well to a world that was radically different from the world they were born into. Tired and ready
  20. Yes, the real Vandy was indeed that super-high gloss.
  21. Hopefully the Typhoon wont be hamstrung much longer. It's certainly a wonderful aircraft, but it seems like it's being delt a death of a thousand cuts, not in sales, but by bickering and the like.
  22. Get that A off of there! Also, while 211's markings were very impressive, she should have stayed as Vandy 1.
  23. Argh, keep forgetting about the Iranian Tomcats. Yes, the only US Navy Tomcat to have never landed on a carrier.
