  1. Nice work Andrew. Internals look stunning. Good luck not breaking off any of those small external bits when you're painting
  2. I might be able to buy something from Sprue Bros' again
  3. I reckon it is part of it. Civil subjects just don't seem that popular. And to be honest Helicopter don't seem to be either . I only know 1 really good helicopter modeller Andrew :D
  4. I vote for the Hobby Boss kit. Not perfect but it builds up well
  5. The Bell 429 being a part 27 aircraft is probably significantly cheaper than the Part 29 EC-145, the 429 has more payload/power than the EC-135. Although the EC-135 -T3/P3 addresses this somewhat from what I understand, and I expect this is why Air Zermatt recently upgraded their T2 to a T3, being the first operator to do so. The Bell 429 would proably be more attract to European/US operators if EASA/FAA allowed the 429 to operate up to 7500 lbs like it is in Canada and many other places. But the other OEM's have convinced the regulators that this would give Bell a commercial advantage so
  6. It'll go in the NSW show. But I've seen the competition and this one has a few too many flaws when you get up close. I'm still happy with it though. Something a bit different.
  7. Well it's bright and it's done. This is my second Hasegawa Phantom depicted as a jet (37-8322) of 302 Hikotai based at Naha Okinawa in December 2008. It was specially painted to commemorate the transfer of the unit to Nyutabaru after 24 years on the island. The aircraft was scrapped 3 months later in March 2009. Lessons Learnt Not all Hasegawa Phantoms are the same. Even though the Sprues for the Wings (sprue L) and Fuselage (sprue J)are labelled the same there are 2 different versions of the same sprue depending on the boxing. As such I really should have used the F-4EJ Kai boxing, whi
  8. The Aires Exhausts have great detail but, as usual they needed some sanding to make them fit Here are the exhausts without any sanding Some adjustments Not perfect but better
  9. Cheers gents Some light weathering using oils, enamel washes and pastels. Hopefully it'll be done this week
  10. Sealing gloss coat. Really happy with the way the decals turned out. For the stencils I applied a little bit of future (PLedge One Go actually ) and then laid the decal in that. Once I was happy I used a cotton bud to press our the excess. The times I needed to reposition a decal I just applied more future until the decal unstuck then repositioned it and tapped out the excess. There appears to be no silvering. :D/> When I started modelling I always struggled with Gloss coats. about 5 years ago I finally figured out what works for me (Tamiya X 22 with Lacquer thiners or Gaiano
  11. There's another build of the test shot over at Aussie Modeller
  12. Fun with stickers. The main markings are from the Model Alliance sheet. They are printed by catrograph so they went down well. However it seems the people you did the artwork clearly didn’t look at the aircraft in question. The background on the surfer on the splitter panes has a dark blue background on all the images I have, not light blue and purple. Plus the light green in the text doesn’t resemble the green they suggested for the tail, spine and nose. I’m just going to live with it and move on. The stencils are from the Hasegawa kit. These are pretty close to the aircraft in question,
  13. Seats, I always leave these til late in the build for some reason. These are the Quickboost seats. Gloss coate. I'm trying to use up old gloss coates I've bought and tried. This is Gaianotes. It's a Japanese Lacquer and I really like it as it dries very fast (I can decal over it in about 20 mins) But it's "hot" and I often get paint that it underneath bleed though. The green has bled through in places on this one which I've had to over coat again. And back to the green paint. The aircraft has some text printed in green. On the decal sheet it looks a fair bit different in shade from the
  14. Nothing, this hobby is dying don't you know ;)
  15. Certainly light years ahead of the HAsegawa kit (I know it's 25 yrs old) in terms of detail and options. I'm glad I've ditched my Hasegawa kits
