  1. I suppose my question is; who will pay to rectify for the design flaw? if the answer is the taxpayer then it really is a win/win for the manufacturer!
  2. some thoughts: there will still be around 16,000 US civilians in Iraq; of which ~15,000 will be private security contractors, basically division sized. the amount of military equipment left behind is of concern; when the soviets left behind heavy weapons in Afghanistan these caused heavy civilian casualties when fighting between warlords erupted. Iran is now the cornerstone in the region, and will capitalise by expanding its influence into its traditional enemy. Ditto for Saudi Arabia - this is a threat these two regional powers will duke it out using iraq as a proxy will the black market
  3. not sure if these have been posted before, but came across these great ref. pics in my recent digging around:
  4. from history we have learned this train of thought about ones enemy can often lead to disastrous consequences. I put money on the flat spin, even glide (if its aerodynamically stable)? other possibility is it was jammed - the hacking into it seems on the more far out spectrum of things these Russian jamming vehicles (Kvant 1L222 Avtobaza) were delivered to Iran 6 week prior, designed (among other things) to disrupt data links "1L222 operates over the Ku and X bands (8-18 GHz frequency range)and its effective range is 150 km. It covers 360 degrees hemisphere, monitoring up to 60 targets sim
  5. from MP.net: "I asked the Korean military personnel here who have seen the RQ-170 in Korea and they say that the dimension of the RQ-170 displayed by Iran is consistent with the aircraft's real size." PS manipulation reveals engine behind grill * actually, really good photo analysis from: http://aviationintel.com/?p=4322 check it out :)

  8. http://edition.cnn.com/2011/12/08/world/meast/iran-drone/index.html?hpt=imi_c1 A U.S. official said Thursday afternoon that "we now have no reason to believe" that the drone in the video is a fake, or fraudulent." "We cannot confirm the claims with 100% certainty, since we do not have direct access to it, but it would be very hard for them to fake such a display," the official added.

  13. he seems to be complaining about the banking system where basically banks loan out more money than they actually hold. this has lead to problems in other countries however, due to our small size our Reserve Bank always holds enough cash to offset total commercial bank loans for security - basically he's protesting about nothing! but the guy is obviously nuts.. Darwin Award on multiple accounts; almost catching himself in the explosion, failing to promote his message for any amount of time due to being arrested moments later, doing this nowhere near an actual bank (if he waited till monday
  14. .....this crackpot. I actually saw this happen a couple hrs ago! big ups to the shop owners who's quick thinking stopped it before it got any bigger! worst being that a kids playground was right next to where this happened in the mall! 15. my thoughts exactly I would expect first on the chopping block military development programs that haven't generated anything - some satellite and rocket programs been going for over a decade with no results IIRC foreign military assistance, military bases and a couple of carriers would be my best guess. avoiding the politics of whos responsible; this really was a fiscal inevitability of unsustainable spending levels. economically; military spending generates practically no returns to the govt money pool.
  16. "uh, stewardess; why does my seat smell of sweat and shame?"

  19. The 117s stealth is pretty dated these days and a PITA to maintain, and decreasing value against the post-cold war proliferation of high end SAMS
