Yes, the F-15E's can carry AIM-120's on the bottom CFT stations. A max of four. If you look at www.f-15estrikeeagle.com under weapons load-outs, you will see. Aaron

A whole he!! of a lot. Check out www.a-10.org. They have lots of pictures and stories there. Aaron

Mark They are invincible....No, I tried to use the ones in the Flightpath update set, and messed them up, so I am waiting for Darren Roberts to get the FOD covers worked out, and then they will be installed (wrote all about it in the main page article to come) Aaron

Hello everyone. I guess I will follow the croud. This year was a slow year, with getting married, going to school, and having a baby. I wouldn't trade it for the world though. My first completed build this year was a Monogram P-38, but I don't have pics of it. The next/last one was a Monogram A-10. The complete build should be up on the main page soon. I totally re-scribed it, and loaded it up with Shawn Hull's wonderful resin goodies. The cockpit is Legend. Anyways, go easy on me. Next year should be better. I have an F-15E and F-16CJ about fifty percent done, with another F-15E, an F-16C fro

Hi everyone. I am getting the final touches ready for my F/A-18 strike package. I have decided that I want to have my F/A-18E be a tanker. I have the four fuel tanks, but I was wondering if there is anything that I can get for the buddy pod. Does anyone make one in 1/48? If not, anyone planning on it? Thank you for your help. Aaron

I'm just hoping he will drop the 25 dollar minimum order. It kind of sucks some times. Aaron

Is the Air Force getting these bombs as well? Aaron

As mentioned above, you need Weapons Set D for the right GBU's, but as far as painting, really, anything goes. The basic color is olive drab, but because of the fact that the bomb bodies themselves are kept outside, the paint wears really fast, leading to different variations in color. Often times, you will find the fins and guidance sections to be "fresher" and darker, as those are kept inside in controlled conditions, and the bombs they are attached to being very light. The control collar that connects the guidence section to the actual bomb should be military brown (or something similar)

I will probably be buying a set of F-15E trunks. I have two others planned right now, and so doing at least one with them will be cool. I think i will also be buying a set of the A-6E ones too...just in case. Aaron

No, they are different. The Super Hornet tanks hold more fuel than the Legacy ones. See this thread. Aaron http://s102164210.onlinehome.us/forums/ind...=strikeeagle801 I think it is the second page where I asked that question. Here is the reply I got There is a big difference between the tanks, the legacy Hornets use, if I recall correctly 330 gal tanks where the Supers use 480 gal tanks. No difference between wing and centerline tanks, they are interchangable.

Xtracrylics Paint: Accuracy and thinning questions
strikeeagle801 replied to Jonathan_Lotton's topic in Tools 'n' Tips
I have just finished my Monogram A-10 using xtracrylics, and am now working on an F-15E and F-16CJ. I think that the colors are really close to the real thing right out of the bottle. And as far as thinning? I used regular tap water, about a 50/50 mix, and it worked just fine. It still clogs a little, but not as bad. Hope that helps, and good luck! Aaron -
That's true...I didn't see the G the first time Aaron

I'm assuming they are for the Hasegawa model. Just be careful. They are the only ones around for aftermarket B-52 stuff, but there have been may reports about the crappy quality of the casting in those sets, and it is likely that these are the same. Aaron

For one, it is not nearly as tacky as say, regular Scotch tape, and so will not pull up paint nearly as much. Also, it will not leave sticky residue on clear parts like canopies. It comes in several different sizes, and so can be used for both small and large jobs. It is also pretty flexible, especially when cut into thin strips, and can go around complex curves and in small areas. I would highly recommend it. Aaron

Wow...my first post in props. I almost always build 1/48 modern jets (I have a couple WWII props in the stash), but lately I have been watching a lot of shows on the Military Chanel about the Vietnam War, and I kind of want to build a SAR scene of some sort. My question is, what version of the A-1 did the USAF use? I am thinking of puting a Sandy with a Jolly/Super Jolly Green and need to know what the Air Force flew. Also, what is the best kit to make an Air Force Sandy? And, for those of you who know of helos as well as props, what is the best kit to make either an H-3 or H-53? Thank you f

Drew I like that a lot! Really good job. I am currently working on a Hasegawa F-16 with TwoBob's Mountain Home decals. It will carry two WCMD's. I hope it looks as good as your Falcon does when I am finished with it. Aaron

Nope. It is as solid as a rock without nose weight. Aaron

More info will come along I am sure, but if you want to make a current bird, then I would go with the Black Box Lot 26 and higher cockpit. Check your references to see if your pit has the ACS set-up in back. If so, then the BB pit is the only way to go for that instrument panel. Aaron

best (and strongest) way to attach clear parts
strikeeagle801 replied to jotter's topic in Tools 'n' Tips
Another vote for watch crystal cement. Meteor Productions sells some, and it works great. Strong bond, and crystal (no pun intended) clear indeed. Aaron -
Aires does the cockpit http://spruebrothersmodels.com/product/ARS4137 And Isradecal does the decals http://spruebrothersmodels.com/product/ISD0053 Hope this helps Aaron

Hi Joe On the first question, the one about the LAU-127's, it was aimed at the baby Hornet. Also, were you able to check and see if you could use the GBU-24 and GBU-12/16? I think I will go with the GBU-16 if it is allowed, as my GBU-12's I have are going on to a fully-loaded, early-OIF Strike Eagle. Aaron

What about 3rd wire models? Are they still around? There is a review of thier F-18 wingfolds on the main page. They look pretty good too. Aaron

Hey Darren Any chance of you (or Dr Pepper) solving our drop tank problem for us? Aaron
-
Why are the two types different? I thought the point of the JOINT in the Joint Direct Attack Munition is that it was a two-way venture between the Air Force and the Navy, and was to create a point of commonality with the weapons? I guess I am wrong? Aaron

I am NOT going to spend 65 bucks on a Hasegawa for the tanks! :(
