I won't believe the number of cases in the US as being factual, Dr Brix admitted the other day that the US is inflating it's numbers.

No, your wife and kids are dependents.

And yes, I'm still going to use that "ridiculous OPSEC argument" because it's factual, whether you agree with it or not.

And I'm glad I never had to serve along side someone like you, you sound like a REMF.

Dr Brix did not say that, what she said was probable cases will be counted.  Meaning people who die with symptoms of COVID will be counted, without a confirmed test.  That makes sense, and that is a lot.  For example the number of people dying at home in NYC more than quadrupled, they were already dead so not being tested.  It was bad enough the National Guard took over recovery of bodies because the city services were overwhelmed.

My wife and kids are dependents, and civilians just like you are a civilian now.   You have no rank, no authority and are not serving.  That makes you a civilian.

You can continue to use the ridiculous OPSEC argument, it's been proven false.   Captain Crozier did the right thing through the right channels, but the weasel former acting SECNAV didn't like it and thought the President would be mad so he fired Crozier.

While I have respect for anyone who serves, a Sailor calling a Soldier a REMF is just funny.   Get back to me when you jump out of an airplane with 100 pounds of gear.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm becoming less concerned about the virus and more concerned about the economy.  Some of you as full time military or retirees don't have to worry as this as much as others do.   I'm still working full time (as is my wife) and together we do pretty well.   That being said, my company has seen a large drop in business and have already started some significant RIF's. I've made the cut so far but if things don't start picking up within a month or so, I'm not optimistic about my future.

I get that we need to be doing what we are currently doing.  However, there has to be an end game and it has to get implemented, (at least partially) pretty damned soon.  Otherwise, the cure may end up being worse than the disease, or to use a saying from the Vietnam War - in order to save the village, we had to destroy it.

Plus, I know how badly GW needs to get that haircut and take his RAV4 to the car wash.

On a side note, regarding the TR saga - WSJ had a report last week that stated the virus didn't get onto the ship during it's port call in Vietnam, it came aboard with some members of the air wing.

If you think military retirement pay is all that, sorry to say it's not. If my family had to live on my retirement alone, we would be below the poverty line.

I'm lucky, I am still able to work (from home) but my wife has not gotten paid for a month due to the business she supports being shut down.

And it's an F150, a RAV4 is a wanna-be minivan on a car chassis, I drive a real vehicle, not a milk carton with a lawnmower engine. 😉

So what she said was that if someone had the Chinese Virus and died of a heart attack they are counting that as a CV19 death. that's inflating the numbers.

And kind of funny I get called Chief when I come through the gate if I have no rank.

And as far as jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, get back to me when you have worked on the flight deck of an Aircraft Carrier, at night, in the rain, finalchecking an aircraft on Cat 4. Or when you are on the flight deck and a plane with five thousand pounds of explosives and 20 thousand pounds of JP-5 catches fire and you are only ten feet from it, then you are the nozzle man on the hose putting out the fire. Or when you have to wipe the blood off of your face from someone who has just walked into a turning prop, or when you are doing CPR on a fellow Sailor for 45 minutes trying to bring him back after he drowned because the liberty boat he was on sank as it was heading back to the carrier, or hold onto a guy screaming who just had his lower leg ran over by a 3 ton forklift, or do a FOD walk down to pick up the pieces of a guy who just got splattered all over the flight deck.

While I may never have been shot at by someone, where I worked, there was a million ways to die and all it took was for one slip up so you can bugger off with that "jump out of an airplane" crap.

Hey douchebag, get back to me when you've had your buddies get blown up next to you, your covered in their body parts, and you know you've killed a man yourself.

I get called Staff Sergeant when USAA calls me, when I go through the gate, etc. Big freakin' deal. Stop holding onto the past.

Ohhhhhh so you want to bring up something that has nothing to do with this. Yes you totally did that and I am extremely grateful for it, as I am for all of the knowledge that you pass on with your experience with Naval Aircraft. That still doesn't change the facts that you have continued to argue against in this discussion and the level of buggery that you have shown to all of us.

If you're that butthurt over it I will send them back to you.

Spare me the histrionics of “I (insert name) would be OK if (insert another name) died so I can get a haircut”.  That’s so ridiculously over the top that doesn’t even deserve a reply.

GW8345's hair and truck are more important to him than his fellow human beings. You want over the top? You got it right here in this thread. But cool that it allowed you to avoid facing the consequences of what a premature end of the shutdown would entail. Denial is a powerful thing.

<...> Again, name the people who you are okay with ruining their lives, making them lose everything they've worked for, putting them on the street, making them stand in food lines, those people have names also.

If it means a fellow human doesn't have to die, I will stand in the food line.

If your paycheck is more important to you than your fellow human beings, I'm terribly sorry for you.

Look, people need food and shelter. They do not need businesses. People are fine without businesses, businesses aren't fine without people. If the only way to avoid unnecessary deaths is ruined businesses, people on the streets standing in food lines, then maybe - just maybe - you need to find a better way as a society.

"So called death"? What is wrong with you? More than 40,000 of your fellow countrymen (for whose protection you like to brag about having risked life and limb for) have died.

Oh, and call it Chinese Virus all you want. It's painfully clear who is responsible for the handling of the situation in the US.

You said I wasn't a nice person, I posted something to counter your claim.

I'm not arguing, I am providing a counter point of view, something most here can't seem to accept.

As for the "buggery" when I am personally attacked, I counter attack, just like you stating I'm not a nice person just for the simple reason I don't agree with your point of view. No, the buggery is coming from those who think I'm ignorant, glad I'm not in charge, don't care about my fellow American's, and all the other emotional BS flung at me by members here who can't stand someone with a differing point of view as themselves.

And just an observation, some members here (including you) have complained about the behavior concerning open discussions on another website, yet are conducting the same exact behavior here.

Um, think I just said I've washed off the blood of someone. As far as killing someone, while I may not have pulled the trigger, I facilitated the death of countless lives, you think the pilots loaded that ordnance themselves?

I've had an F-150 AND a Dodge Ram. The "staples" of the American pickup truck, even more so here in Texas. I'd still go with the RAV4 any day. Much more fun, reliable, and economic.

Yea but it's kind of hard to haul your trash or anything else bigger than a mini-fridge in a RAV4.

Actually I've loaded up myself, my girlfriend, my two kids, and enough gear to go tent camping and hiking for 4 days in it. Why would I want to haul trash in it? That'll be smelly.

Nobody talked about socialism.

That's what you are advocating for.

If there is no businesses how do people earn money to buy the food, how do you get the things you need, the gov't?

Kind of funny how you are willing to ruin peoples lives just so you can feel safe, this may come to a shock to you but.............life is not without risk.

The very fact that people call COVID-19 the "Chinese Virus" speaks volumes about what they know, what they don't know, and who they get their "facts" from.

If your civil rights are so trampled, your freedom so restricted and your life is so miserable by the ultimate inconvenience of not being able to get a haircut or go to a full service car wash, I can think of 160,000+ people who would gladly trade places with you.  I'd like to share two of my favorite movie quotes:

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.  Or the one."

and

"Here's lookin' at you, kid."

Where I live we don't have curb side trash service, you either haul it yourself to the collection site or pay for a trash service. Since I live within a couple of miles of a collection site once a month I throw all the trash cans in to the back of the truck and do it my self. I've also save countless dollars in delivery fees.

Ah, so I don't agree with your point of view automatically makes me an uninformed bad person, how tolerant of you.

Please tell me where it says in the Constitution that we can suspend the First Amendment due to a virus.

And as far as "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one" (Star Trek, Wrath of Kahn)

Over 22 million American's lost their jobs in the past 3-4 weeks, @40K have died from the Chinese Virus, that's 550 Americans for every one death, who is the many and who's the few/one?

She didn't say that at all, but I'm sure you heard what you want to hear.  What she said was cases assumed to be COVID related would be counted even without a positive test.  With tests being hard to get doctors don't want to waste them on people who are already dead.

Being far away from combat is the very definition of REMF.   There is a forward echelon, and that's typically not Sailors.  What you did had an element of danger, no more than many others though.  We can all tell stories about things we've seen, like driving with night vision or rail loading armored vehicles.   Thank you for your service.

You have no rank, you have no authority, you are a civilian.  Most people who retire accept that, and move on.

I'll have you know! Actually I'm probably going to get another one here soon, my current ride is 19 years old and almost 300,000 miles. Next one I get will be AWD and will end up looking something like this.

2ee4fd612084f0b2aaf83198db84f039.jpg

Nice looking ride.   My last car was an 07 CRV.  I ended up selling it to my daughter once she got her DL. It got her through 2 years of college safe and sound until some DB who was staring at her phone rear ended her while she was stopped at a light.   It was still going strong at 330k miles.

I was half kidding about only full size trucks allowed in TX.   Only time I’ve been down there was for a few weeks on a job near Odessa.   Seemed like everyone in the town was driving F350’s.

Yep and unless you buy an F-350 yourself there's no way of seeing the road in front or around them. Annoying is the lightest word I would use.
