Don RD
Bingo! I didn't even notice when I was putting on the second decal, which surprised me even more when I was looking at the pictures. ! Zoned out I guess! Here's a pic of the Bone next to my other Strike......I'd take it outside, but it's snowing.....at the end of May....and I live in a desert. Sorry to hear about your wintery weather. Like the tiger stripes; cool stuff. Before you seal the decals, I think it would really be worthwhile to ask the forum community for a spare decal. Easy enough to remove your mounted decals with some tape and reapply if you get another copy. As an example, my kit came with plastic injection molded wheels for the landing gear, which I didn't like all that much. I noticed that one of the earlier forum contributors had built his aircraft with gear up and I set him a note inquiring about the rubber tires that he didn't use. A very generous forum member sent me the tires at no cost. Can't hurt to ask. You've put alot of effort into this so far; this might be an easily corrected mistake. utley
I HAVE 2sets of rubber tires available from my spare bones part kits. matter of fact i HAVE spare sets of everything except for the landing gear themselves, wings or intake suckers. im only using the wings and intakes as fabrication tests for molding better stuff. Hell i even have a spare set of CE cans that need just a small bit of repairs and i just gave away a new set of CE cans too. im only building one bone so anything anyone may need all you need to do is send me a pm and we can work something out. utley
forgot to mention that i do have some two bobs seek and destroy early markings for that trade with those CE cans. i can probably let some extra decals go that i won't use just as long as its Not the dakota bones or seek and destroy. im going Cammied up. Don RD
Very nice Brett. You loaded the bomb bays, didn't you? If so, we need more photos. Also, can't remember if you used acrylics or enamel; was this ModelMaster gunship gray? Don

B) Also, can't remember if you used acrylics or enamel; was this ModelMaster gunship gray? Don Hey Don Thanks for the compliment. I actually left the forward bay empty, just painted it up as best I could. I didn't want to work on the rotary launcher and try to build and accurate one. As for the paints, they're Tamiya spray cans......I can't remember off hand, I believe they're enamels? Brett

B-one Keeper
Brett, Your model looks amazing! I love the look of the Sniper pod and the exhaust nozzles. I bet those nozzles were a pain to put together. Just one small observation Sir: The weapons bay doors are one of the systems I work on here at Ellsworth. The doors don't hang down that far, about half of the door is still up in the bay when open. They aren't hinged like you would typically expect to see on a door. I'm jealous of your putty and sanding skills, I could never get that kit to look as good as yours. B-one Keeper
Glad to help Brett. Good choice going with 129. I was her Crew Chief in 2001-2002. Sent her off to OEF in late 2001. I had the Black Widow nose art painted on after she returned, then moved over to 115. She's a little more troublesome than some other Bones but she has her moments. Don RD
Hey ShaunQuick search and I see what you mean! That shouldn't be too hard to change. Thanks for the info, I'll get that fixed! Brett Thanks for the additional photos, Brett. I'll echo the others and say truly impressive. And a great tip from Shaun re: the position of the open bomb bay doors. I'll keep that in mind as I progress (right now, still working on the front gear bay and cockpit). Don
Von_L
Fantastic piece of work. I've built and/or restored these monster kits for others several times and never quite had the success with that big, aft fuselage seam that you have here. Out--standing!

Shaun Glad to have approval from the former Crew Chief! I moved the bomb bay doors, so they're in the correct spot now! No pics, but it makes more sense on the kit! The black widow is pretty cool looking and everyone that's seen it has commented on it. Thanks for your help again Brett

This forum has been verry helpful, THANKS EVERYONE Edited July 8, 2010 by Nick A

I just turn the blade backwards and use the tip of the knife, it works better than a carbide scribe on fine lines. Thats how I cut the flaps and slats out of my wings.
