Trigger
Due to the popularity of the WhIf thread in Jet Aviation and some talk of helicopters within said thread, I decided to start a dedicated WhIf Helicopter Thread. Kicking this off are USAF AH-1Ws... Rescort Trials at Nellis AFB Active Duty AH-1W AFSOC AH-1W (COIN) AFSOC AH-1W (COIN)
Tank
Not sure about zoomies having a Whiskey but that COIN scheme does have a nice look to it.
Jennings
Man! Those are gorgeous! Love the leopard spots. That looked good even on a UH-1 J
HeavyArty
What about one in the Davis-Monthan 3-color desert rescue scheme like the HH-60G I did. Or USAF Apaches in the same colors. Maybe a Screaming Eagle Cobra or Apache like the Hungarian(?) Hind. Edited June 18, 2008 by HeavyArty
TaiidanTomcat
Great idea Trigger!! Love that bottom profile, the Huey's my dad used to work on looked like that he will love it too. Ben
Trigger
Thanks all. What about one in the Davis-Monthan 3-color desert rescue scheme like the HH-60G I did. Or USAF Apaches in the same colors. Maybe a Screaming Eagle Cobra or Apache like the Hungarian(?) Hind. I've already started on some USAF Apaches (I even have a possible build outlined for an "AH-64E"). The three-tone Pave Hawk scheme was a no-go on the Whiskeys because we've already seen tan AH-1Ws in ODS, but I will include desert Apaches along with British Apache schemes and Whiskeys. A twin-engine US Army RAH-1 is something Jon and I have discussed (as a replacement for the RAH-66 & RAH-70) so don't be surprised to see some "new" Army Cobras, but they may not be Whiskeys. As for that Hungarian Hind-inspired scheme...wow. Never say never, but...wow. That's going to be...interesting to try out.

Ah, the RAH-1A... this is gonna be SWEET! GREAT WhIfs Grant! Keep em coming! We need some turned exhausts! Jon Edited June 18, 2008 by Cobrahistorian
ChernayaAkula
<...> I decided to start a dedicated WhIf Helicopter Thread. <...> Awesome idea! :) Those profiles are fantastic! Right, where to start? We need... Ka-50/52, AH-64 and AH-1Z in Turkish AH-1 camo, Eurocopter Tiger, AH-64 and Mi-28N in Swedish splinters, AH-1G in Rhodesian colours, some WZ-10 profiles... ...and... that's about it. For now! ;) Edited June 18, 2008 by ChernayaAkula
GreyGhost
I think Moritz is outta breath ... Great idea Grant and excellent profiles ... I'd love to see your take on a Sea Apache ... Gregg

Joseph Osborn
I posted these on HKN a while back. I was hopped-up on goofballs one night and got to thinking about what a more militarized MH-60T would look like: They need the exhaust suppressors and then they'd be bad-arse. And here's an MH-60J in the Dolphin's all-orange scheme: I'd like to see an AH-64A in USMC markings-- the Marines wanted for the thing back in the early 80's but the bean-counters denied the funds. Not the SC ANG gray type of camouflage, but a three-tone wraparound or just an overall green.
Keith Diamond
Great idea on starting this thread. Looking forward to the Apache schemes!

HeavyArty
Eeeeewww. Looks like the bastard love-child of an Apache and an A6 Intruder. What was up with the lower fuselage lines?
drhornii
Why stop at schemes, a lot of scratch building additions to the AH-1 Cobra by widening the fuselage & adding troop carrying capability whule still maintaining the tandem crew. Kinda like a Cobra Hind?

SuperCobra
BLASPHEMY!!! Speaking of Blasphemy how about a USMC Little Bird or better yet a DAP! How would that be for commonality for an HML/A. Get rids of Cobras and Hueys and go gunship and slick versions of Blackhawks. Kind of like the old VMO UH-1E days.

I have a 1/35 USMC DAP in the works right now, although I'm a UH-1N lover, I think it makes more sense than the Yankees they're giving us! Semper, Ski
TaiidanTomcat
I plan on doing a USMC Apache for the Helicopter GB in three tone Camo, but it will look a little more like this instead of the Navy's pregnant apache: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/images/gensdstrike.gif going to give it a pogo stick landing gear like the Seahawk though for a folding tail. Nev
Hey guys, if you're interested, over on the what if forums we've just started a profiles GB where you basically build a model based off of a scheme you've seen in the Profiles & CGI forum. One of my entries will be one of these gorgeous Japanese Ospreys as created by Maverick
