  1. Was the white paint acrylic or oil based? With house paint.....ink from markers will always bleed through water based paints but the marker ink can't bleed through opil based paints. Steve B
  2. Is it possible to remove the oil in the grease spots from the model and then apply dull coat to the affected areas? Was the model given a full coat of dullcoat or did you use flat paints? Steve B ARC Owner
  3. I was sorry to have missed this show......I couldn't get time off work. I have fond memories of the Vancouver shows I have attended. Steve B
  4. Excellent job Geoffrey......I'll put ot on the ARC homepage if you're interested in sending me an article of it. I love the job you did on the panel lines and the paint chipping. :) Steve B ARC Owner
  5. You'd end up with quite a few pinned threads I would suspect.....which would lead to complaints that there was too many pinned threads. Steve B
  6. I posted an editorial on the www.arcair.com homepage.....you can find the editorial at this link Editorial Sorry for the confusion Briget. Steve B ARC Owner
  7. Hi guys, I think some of you are reading too much into my goals with this new forum. I'm not for or against the new super threads. I do believe these super threads will prove to be a chore to view in the future....but I could be wrong. I'm a fan of people posting questions looking for pics and people responding with pics or text answers. I'm not for or against the super threads. My only concern is these super threads might be a possible drain on the database when you pull up one of the threads with 700 messages in that one thread. Perhaps all 700 messages will need to be accessed for y
  8. I believe the critical issue with airliners.net is that any link to their site must load a webpage with the advertising. The advertising is how they pay for their costs. If you link directly to their images then you bypass the advertising and they get no revenue to cover their costs. I believe text links to their webpage containing the pic you link is very much ok by them. If anyone knows differently please correct me. To bypass the advertising is basically using a website and not helping to pay for the website costs. Advertising income is critical to website's survival. Steve B
  9. Good point....I pinned a message regarding this to the new forum. Steve B
  10. Thanks for the laugh. Steve B ARC Owner
  11. There's no black and white in life....just endless shades of gray/grey. Steve B
  12. Hi Will, I tend to agree with Brian on this. I'm not keen on polluting this new forum with the older threads from Real Aviation......but the "approaching the boat" thread was popular, so I moved that thread to the "General Discussion" forum. Steve B ARC Owner
  13. Hi Everyone, I'm glad you are making such productive use of this forum. It's looking excellent so far. One request though....only post pics you own the copyright to or that you have copyright permission to use. Posting photos here is the same as publishing photos in a book....so you must respect the copyrighted owners of the photos. Thanks!!! And keep up the good work.....I'm really enjoying this new forum. Steve B ARC Owner
  14. I'm working on some reviews of Doug's products and the quality is top notch. They'll be on ARC soon. Steve B ARC Owner
  15. Very cool indeed Eddie. If you get her done in time I'd love to feature it on the ARC homepage during the Week of Jan 1-7. Silly week is full of wild and wonderful creations. And your twin boom Spit would fit right in. Steve B
  16. Vitor.....you captured the look of the F-15I perfectly.....well done!!! Thanks for sharing. If you want to have it on the ARC homepage....send me an article and I'll get it on ARC for you. Steve B ARC Owner
  17. Dude!!! Too cool!!! Steve B ARC Owner
  18. "Let them eat cake." Damn peasants. :D Steve B
  19. Yup....airshow pics would fit right in I would think. Steve B
  20. 'Fishwelding' ....your comments and ideas are very good....with luck this will evolve in this forum. It would make things easier to find. Alhtough if you end up in 5 years with an F-15E bomb load thread that is 300 posts long.....then it would almost be too much info to sift through. I'm not sure what will happen........but it is a very good idea. Steve B ARC Owner
  21. Not if someone is asking a question about a Mustang or Spitfire. This forum is directed at the 1/1 scale aircraft and I hope this forum will be where people can get their reseach questions answered. I'm sure the folks that maintain and fly the 1/1 scale aircraft will find a home on this forum. Actually Real aviation was the focal point of the bulk of the problems. Real Aviation had become a Cancer on ARC and it was time to remove the Tumor. With luck the new forum will fill in some of the more positive aspects of the old Real Aviation forum. But I can only guess at this point.....we'
  22. Oh sorry.....I didn't realise what you had in mind. You'll need to use your own pics and not link to content on other sites. Out of respect for the copyright on the pics and we' need to avoid linking directly to pics on other sites as that will increase their bandwidth....which isn't fair. Steve B ARC Owner
  23. Wow....I LOVE the twin engine intake. I've never seen that before. Steve B
  24. This sounds like a great idea Erick. Steve B ARC Owner
