Opening this back up about different Spitfires instead of starting a new thread. As I understand it (literally just reading for 20 mins), the MK Vb and MK Vc differences are only in armament correct? I am looking at modelling the following aircraft and it's a toss up between the Airfix and Tamiya Vb kits, however Alley Cat makes MK Vc wings for the Airfix. Now this is where I am SUPER DUPER confused. How can I tell if this Spit is an "early/ late" wing or "clipped/full span" wing? So confusing.

Totally true. I do find errors a lot on the designation for an aircraft all the time. I suppose I should have know it would be that way for, well, everything.

I don't think that statement about what was painted over what is entirely 100% accurate. I found this picture of what is supposed to be the USS Nassau en route to the Persian Gulf and if you look closely there is a tri-color Sea Cobra at the very end of the row of aircraft. There is also a full gray one as well. I think, and this is my opinion, that all the aircraft were painted grey. Then they started to paint the tri-color as they were underway. Now it's possible that they re-painted some of the all grey because that's all the pain they had left after extensive opera

There's quite a few photos of some Minnesota ANG F-4C's flying intercept missions with SUU-23's. I know they're not 1965-66 timeframe you're looking for but they were in ADC Grey and the pods are grey too. Just throwing that bit in there.

My post ain't confusing. I asked about a few things that could help the kit shine a bit more. Not trying to blow everything on aftermarket and trying to keep any aftermarket to simple additions. If I wanted to really change the kit then yes I'd just get the Eduard.
