  1. Aha! So there will be more variants to come.
  2. They already have CAD, all they need is to add "fatty" booster section. I'd add elusive R-77 to the list, as well as some A2G if they are going to continue line up with 9-17 or 9-47.
  3. With molds this good, GWH should release Archer and Alamo and R-60 as separate weapons sets. Would make great replacement option to those who don't want pay a fortune for Miniarm sets or running low on Tally-Ho ones.
  4. Will there be a separate set of afterburners and nozzles, so a closed-up version can be built and a complete engine shown on a rig next to it?

    MiG-29 Greys

AFAIK the only official camouflage pattern for 9-12 is olive-green-gray over mid gray, everything else is either creative approach from ground crew or Monday morning batch of paint.
  6. CAD looks good, but there is a long and treacherous road from CAD to plastic in the box. Having Built two of GWH aircraft kits, UHU and TBD-1, I have the suspicion they will drop the ball somewhere. Hold on to your AM, there will be stuff to replace for sure.
  7. Endeavor was 90 minutes late, but it did two passes instead of one. First pass was in V formation with two NASA F/A-18s at its sides, second was done in line abreast with Hornets flying starboard of carrier. As of 12:51pm Pacific Endeavor is safely on the ground at LAX. Unfortunately, I was not able to make any good quality shots, my new telescopic lens didn't work in today's unusually humid and hot weather(.
  8. Going to be on top platform of Griffith Observatory, waiting for 10:30 flyover.
  9. Surprise kit will be a WWII era subject.
  10. Evening (morning?) all. Here is my totally OOB Devastator I scored from Brookhurst Hobbies one hour sale at just 45USD. Took about two weeks to build after I finished Zvezda's Hinds. This is pretty well detailed and engineered kit, though instructions are full of omissions when it comes to several small but important bits and pieces here and there. Feels like they rushed the kit to market. The whole kit is painted using lifecolor acrylics save for Zinc Chromite and interior green which are Mr. Hobby 351 and 351+Russian Green mixed in equal parts. Kit decals were used as well. Thin and clear,
  11. Possible, do I hear Pink Floyd in the background?
  12. Can't believe I'm saying this, but we ought not pursue relativity concept systems at this time, but focus more on the plasma arch propulsion systems. Warp is definitely the future, although distant one, but electrochemical systems are a necessary departure from chemical rockets and their limits into viable exploration and colonization of outer planets and moons in the solar system. Besides, small experimental plasma arch systems already exist and are rigorously tested and improved, while warping is still a physicists' game.
  13. The panel lines are a concern actually, their sole 1/72 kit has rather crude, broad but shallow recessed lines, similar to the mid 90's Italeri kits.
  14. There was specific order, some say by Gorby himself, to prohibit Soviet fighter units to enter air combat with PAF unless fired upon. Something that made Pakistani Falcons' job a whole tad easier, and a source of a great deal of frustration and anger among MLD jockeys.
  15. NOt sure about customers, but I once saw what was essentially a Chinese aftermarket company dissing at China's political structure. A while back DML released a kit of German experimental heavy tank destroyer, dubbed Dicker Max (Fat Max). Voyager followed the release with PE set for it with a title proclaiming: "Dick Marx!" (with the exclamation point and in all red capitalized letters).
  16. I don't know some rumor about new tool Fulcrum from Asia, in the wrong scale of course. Might be OT, but Zvezda will release Il-62M long range passenger jet in mid-2013.
  17. You only need one if you want TUSK II( or I). Shop around and you will find their sets for under 50 dollars which is a nominal price Asian hobby stores will charge for Tamiya kit ( but they will also charge in excess of 15 to ship it to US)
  18. Or you can use Legends' TUSK I & II sets.
  19. Lovely What-If, really. Would hate to be a structural guy in charge of mediating root bending moment and aerodynamic twist effects on a wing like this.
  20. Pointless discussion. Such things can only be compared on a posteriori basis, either some time after retirement of both planes when tech data is available or after a major conflict where both played first violin for their air arms. Otherwise it's pure speculation with hint of poop flinging.
  21. Already? I still contemplate how to cut the shrink wrap over the box. Excellent end result there.

    1/72 Mi-24A

Hi, Ross. No, like I said I had to spray Buff lines to cover up wrinkled clear parts of the each decal strip. I have used the method you just described since my early model building days at Armorama when I used to mostly build eastern armor. The clear coat had been sprayed to seal AKAN delicate paints and decals went over it ("seared" with Micro Sol fluid). Then I sprayed another generous coat of clear gloss to seal decals, no warping there, and to apply wash (I used MiG's Neutral Grey). I like to add a third, light spray of gloss clear to level oil soaked panel lines with oil free surfaces
