  1. Those were the days......when airshows were AIRSHOWS!!!! :D :yahoo: Added - I loved the Blues F-4 shows, but when they went to A-4's it seems they were able to do stuff a show center they couldn't do in the Phantoms like the 270° dual solo inverted roll to upright and exit left........of all the Blues maneuvers that is probably my favorite no matter which aircraft they flew. That one was just uber/ultra/super COOL!!!!, for the T-birds the pass in review in tight, and the Bon ton Roulle'.
  2. Let me ask is it fair to say; that no kit maker is above reproach?. IIRC Tamiya has dropped the ball so to speak on other occasions; such as their 1/48 Sea Harrier FRS Mk 1, a kit I stayed away from, and from personal experience their 1/48 "C" Eagle the "Maloney's Pony" kit left many Eagle lovers disappointed with the detail and overall mold design the clam shell top and bottom fuselage assembly had some scratching their collective heads and asking WDTDT...when every other Eagle kit went with the side x side approach. The Tamiya 1/48 Vipers are some of the best in class; if not the best, but e
  3. I have never pretended to be an expert on any aircraft and will never do so, however for the uber-super-ultra critics (The top rung rivet counter) of any model kit , There is an old saying that goes "if you want something done right, it is best to do it yourself; so before you drop the hammer on AMK, KH, GWH, Tamiya, Hasegawa, Revell, etal...perhaps you could/would/should consider acquiring the funding to design, mold, and produce a kit that the entire modeling world of that genre will break down doors to purchase a copy of said kit. I must remind you it can have no flaws in the mold or desig
  4. jeeez....what is the military coming to....while in boot at Lackland we couldn't even ride in a POV..until we got town lib and rode with family members and that was 3 days before graduation.
  5. add to that list Super Clean (da purple stuff) it does it in a matter of minutes.
  6. Thanx Don, I echo your sentiments...very well said .
  7. MatCat - If you can still get these, they don't come any better than Fightertown decals as most of ARC will attest 1/48 Pukin Dogs Check Fightertowns webside....they may still have some in stock ;) ; if not Sprue Bros. is another good source. HTH, Good luck...I'll be watching your progress reports and taking notes
  8. Welcome to the ARC madhouse of Maniacal plastic manglers....well at least that describes me..dang 35 years away from modeling and I thought I took a long time off. I'll be watching I've got one in my stash ;) .
  9. Thank you!!!!...that is precisely what I was looking and hoping for....that is a build saver, not to mention it'll stave off me pulling out what hair I've got left :) .
  10. Well it's alright now I've learned my lesson well, you see you can't please everyone so ya got to please yourself - Rick Nelson
  11. :clap2: :clap2: A part of the greatest generation that had it tougher than most. It's a pity that a lot of the newer generations don't appreciate the sacrifices of those; to get them what they enjoy today.
  12. All hail the mighty TWEET!!!!, and it's tougher big brother the all powerful A-37 "Dragonfly" :worship: :D
  13. One question....who's gonna be the first decal maker to have decals for it, uhhhhhhhhh any takers that fightertown doesn't already has a set waiting to go to the printers
  14. Did ya notice that it was mentioned that you can't drop the flaps or slats on the Tomcat..... I wonder how long it took Aires, Wolfpack, CMK , to get started on the resin kits to do those features...that is if they don't have a copy of the kit already . This has me wondering should I wait and see which is better, if AMK's offering has positionable flaps and slats....it's a done deal, still Tamiya's new offering may be worth a shot , if IF the price is within reason.
  15. What he said + an extra very cool!!!
  16. I've done some recon on the 'net, but a lot of what I've seen is either cockpits done on a build or a lot of museum pix, or those all 100% true flight sim images; does anyone know of a site that has actual pix taken in a detailed factually restored Gustav-6?. I've seen what are purported to be pix, but even they differ. I'm wondering if the changes came about in parts being restored in the field where a part came back from repair and not painted the same as in the factory, as it happens when aircraft return from an IRAN facility, the don't always look the same as when the aircraft left St.
  17. Those are some outstanding looking engines.....looks like ya shrunk them down from the real articles
  18. Very very nice work, the build is coming together great.....BTW thanx for the [hot] tip :D .
  19. I'll gonna blow ya all away.............Water..room temp... B)
  20. I'm on the hook for a few of these 48th sets B) . That will take all the fun out of modeling, much like going out and buying a diecast model....I've done that for my grandson, so he can play on the floor while I have a go at one of my kits. I just hope plastic kits never become passe'. Where would be the challenge the glory of DYI, and the thrill and enjoyment one gets from a build.
  21. Noooooo!!!....please, by all means take your time, this is too fantastic to speed up, take unneeded short cuts...and have something go awry. This is a lesson for all us kit assemblers on true modeling B) :worship: .
