  1. Amazing work on the pylon John, much respect from here /Jesse
  2. Thanks Andrew! Resin casting is a science and if yer not efficient you will lose lots of money... I will keep hoping that someone will create a worthy GBU-12 Thanks Jake! Yeah, from the pics I've seen the Academy pieces need some work as well... And yes I fall into the "lazy guy" category too Thanks Janne! Yes this modeling bit seems to be getting way out of control Thanks for the list Chuck! I will definitely have to pick up a Legacy Hornet or 3... Too bad the F-16CG kit is good for weapons and stencils, but bad for the Viper itself.... Thanks black widow Hey Steve, good
  3. Her's the finished product. The blue Mk.82 bodies represent practice bombs which is what the 86-0186 would have been carrying at Seymour Johnson at the time. Here are all 4 of the smart bombs, which will be mounted on the forward CFT upper & lower stations eventually. I will cant the seeker heads downward after they are mounted to their corresponding pylons... Finally, the CATM-9M! Thanks again Gary for the stencils I have been spoiling myself with painting rather than actual construction, but when the airframe is finished all of these mini models can be installed immediate
  4. Thank you for the huge compliments Josh, but I am not near the modeler that Chuck is and many others that build models here... I do however strive to be that good, which for me is the fun part about building! Over the past 2 weeks I've had a new and unique modeling experience that involves casting my own resin parts. Let me make this clear, I'm not stepping on the aftermarket guys' toes, I simply decided to make the parts myself to save massive time and scratch-work! If someone out there offered a reasonable GBU-12 replica I would've definitely chosen to go that route instead. In the end I'm
  5. This is looking phenomenal Janne :woot.gif:/> You've added a ton of "depth" and another dimension with the various shading and chipping effects! Awesome! /Jesse
  6. Very "clean" work as usual Chuck! I agree that the wing looks to be in the correct position, but it looks like the the lower fuselage angles upward just before it meets the "strake".... not much you can do about that. You've vastly improved the look by tucking the strake in under the wing root As for the starboard sponson, it looks like those "latches" are only present on the portside sponson. Looks like the starboard sponson is correct like Steve stated after 1991 it was painted black. The panel line that runs parallel on top of the sponson looks like it should be "removed" as I'm not see
  7. jlcsr recently sold me The Modern Hog Guide which is in great condition and the shipment was very prompt. Trade with confidence :thumbsup:/> :thumbsup:/>
  8. Very nice start Sven Those look like some very nice clean cuts! I personally like the first photos with a little less brightness. Looking forward to more! /Jesse
  9. Great start on the Super Bug I purchased the late lot Avionix pit and switched the wizzo coamings, but your solution looks fantastic! Another suggestion is, IF you plan to use the Aires nose gear bay, I would sand all of the detail out of the kit NGB and try to install the walls of the Aires resin.... What I mean is sand the Aires "walls" down VERY thin without destroying it and glue the bits to the kits NGB "walls" to avoid fitment issues to come... /Jesse
  10. I can recommend Keith Davidson: Red Pegasus Decals He is a great guy and very professional... He had to redraw some artwork for my project and I was very impressed! The more research you do on your end the cheaper and faster he can get it done for you... /Jesse
  11. Hang in there Steve, if you are feeling frustration, maybe walk away from the build for a few days/weeks, whatever it takes... That usually works for me, since facing the problem after taking a break gives me a fresh attitude and even some new ideas on how to deal with the headaches :bandhead2:/> Trying to fix someone else's mistakes is way more work than building from the ground up! /Jesse
  12. Fantastic solution to fit the tub Looking forward for more /Jesse
  13. That turned out amazing Patrick! Your determination paid off in the end /Jesse
  14. I haven't had any luck using alcohol either... I've tried Mr. Leveling Thinner, but I can never get the smooth seamless transition. If you find a method that works or if you end up getting results with the alcohol, would you mind posting the technique? TIA. I've gotten great results using it as a primer, but I haven't been priming my plastic too much as of late so the bottles just collect dust for now :lol:/> /Jesse
  15. It's a show stopper congrats :woot.gif:/> /Jesse
  16. Wow that looks amazing! The actuators and the scissors links really turned out nice :clap2:/> /Jesse
  17. My wife plays this game while I build... She has added you. Screen name JenniFuehr666 /Jesse
  18. Thanks E! Always good to hear from you. I did notice that with the Archer rivets... The smallest rivets on the sheets are only good for 32nd scale, bur even so the rivets will work for other/larger fasteners and screws for smaller scales Gremlins? Stop feeding them after midnight E! Thanks for yer input Gary! And thanks again for the markings After I paint the airframe I will then decide what to do about the tanks. I know what you mean about the rivets, they are pretty fragile, but after some paint layers I've been buffing them and even went over it all with micromesh and they held up
  19. Thanks for those photos Check Six What Jake is referring to is the 86-0186 jet is the Brig generals jet, which was state-side and Chris, who was in charge of maintaining her, kept her very very tidy! So he's right, the tanks would have been spotless. That said, we as modelers get to make some judgement calls and I opted for slightly dingy to add interest for me as well as other onlookers. The great thing about it is that I can tone it down without much trouble if that's what I choose to do at a later date /Jesse
  20. Thanks Ken, I also had to reshape that housing a bit as well... I shoulda taken a "before & after" shot. Jake, I respect and appreciate yer input. I know the tanks are slightly overdone since I purposely made them so. I know Chris will probably beat me up over this matter. If you examine the top-side of the tanks they are pretty well kept aside from the staining from the fuel cap and the oval panels. Pictures also have a way of overemphasizing light and dark shades. This is an argument that we all know and I'm not gonna get into it too much. I may decide to get rid of the stains from the
  21. Incredible modeling Just wow! /Jesse
  22. Very cool Janne! Bubba looks a lot more comfy on his throne rather than sitting on that sharp toothpick :P/> I will have to try that vaseline chipping effect as well :thumbsup:/> /Jesse
  23. Thanks CS! Make sure to get a nice set of decals.... Tamiya kit ones suck and don't use the Super Scale ones either.... I would wait and see what Speed Hunter Graphics comes out with in the future /Jesse
  24. After losing a rivet or 3 I decided to seal them in with the Future, so I should be good to go /Jesse
