  1. thanks Mike, I'll join and hopefully learn a thing or 2
  2. thanks for that. How does the pay to play work with the cricut, will it not work if you don't pay the subscription? or does it just not allow you to download new patterns?
  3. well since a good 3d printer and all the accessories you need are out of my current price range, I started looking at a cutting machine to make custom masks. I had been leaning towards a Cameo 4, but the reviews on amazon are terrible. most say the machine just quits after a couple of weeks and there os absolutely no support outside the U.S. I can still get a portrait 3, which by some accounts is a better machine just smaller. so what are your opinions on these? is there a better option? what kind of experience do you have with them? cheers
  4. nope. the tamiya flat clear is not very flat at all. It will tone down the gloss but not make it totally flat. I usually use Vallejo flat which is not very good to spray but goes down totally flat.
  5. Can't afford and won't spend the money are 2 very different things. Canada has a lot of money for "other stuff" and IMO we don't need much in the way of 5th gen stuff ....yet. we need an interceptor for NORAD commitment and a bomb truck to drop ordy on people 2 days after the U.S. starts a fight.
  6. this looks like a great replacement aircraft for our fleet of slightly used CF-18's.
  7. ahh yes they always get you on the accessories. I did some math and it looks like to get a 3d printer set up I am looking at 6-700 dollars Canadian. that is if my 7 year old desktop can handle the software. thanks for the very helpful info
  8. Again. thank you Dave. I am off to deep dive into this
  9. exactly what I was looking for guys, thank you. Dave, what software do you recommend? obviously it comes with a program to slice an object, but can it be used for designing stuff as well?
  10. I am thinking of getting a 3D printer mostly for model project and the occasional warhammer figure. I did a google search and found mostly articles written by people trying to sell 3d printers. so I am hoping some of you can share experiences and maybe some warnings. cheers
  11. I have had a few items from ultracast spend up to 2 weeks just sitting in Mississauga . the USPS is probably as messed up as Canada post when it comes to ports of entry. they might have to wait for space on a flight to the Miami processing centre rather than just getting it into the US system and going from there. and at the moment there are few flights to Miami from YYZ for example ,Canada Post has EVERYTHING coming from Europe enter Canada at Mississauga then it is sent (usually by truck) out to the rest of Canada. so when you live say on the west coast of Canada it takes a while to get he

  13. Dutch, I have access to a real 767 if you need any specific references.
  14. hopefully Tamiya will continue on with all the versions in the series. (hello F-16B) I can see them producing a EJ model because , well the home market would love one as well
  15. amazon says the haynes manual is to be released on March 16th https://www.amazon.ca/Saturn-Launch-Vehicles-Owners-Workshop/dp/1785216597/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=haynes+saturn+rocket&qid=1610921910&sr=8-1

  18. thanks for the replies guys. I was only thinking about the e-reader not the fire. and I was unaware of the app.
  19. every time I buy a book like a detail and scale book on amazon, they always try to get me to buy a Kindle version of it. to me this seems really useless for a reference book that has lots of pictures. as far as I know the kindle is only in black and white and the resolution is not the best for images. so has anyone actually downloaded one and have you been able to view the images? or is there another way to view them. for something like a detail and scale book I prefer a paper copy anyway because other than setting it on fire it will always work.
  20. they behave very much like tamiya. I thin them with Mister color leveling thinner or tamiya lacquer thinner. I have sprayed them over tamiya and vise versa with no issues.
