  1. Do you guys remember the movie "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" with Sean Connery. That ship looks just like Captain Nemo's Nautilus from the move. Copyright infringement anyone. What good are guns that can only fire at non moving targets. The Navy has had that tech for the last 100 years and they leave it out. Tom
  2. There was an F4C on static display in Klamuth Falls OR when I was out there working for Uncle Sam. I always liked the Bald Eagle on the tail. I will be using Tamiyas F4C/D started before 9/11 but never finished. A custom decal sheet was ruined in a flooded basement thanks to hurricane Irene. I found it again on a sheet by Carcal. Thanks for the help guys I will be checking the local hobby shop fpr paint. TC
  3. Folks, I'm building a F4C as Oregon Air Guard in ADC Gray. Now the question is who makes the best ADC gray? TC
  4. Do I see a bit of silvering under that decal. TC
  5. I'm waitng too. There has not been a decent tanker movie ever. They pulled out all stops to make it accurate. They even got the Bovington Tiger 1 in the movie. Lets hope it's good. As a retired Tanker and history buff I'll be looking for the mistakes. I hope I don't find many. TC
  6. Fish I have to agree the cool factor is high. Its a good looking tank accurate or not. I will wait for a good sale or a US version though. $70 plus is steep and I got burned on the M103 at $65. It is so dimensionally off its nearly impossible to convert to an A2. TC
  7. I made the mistake of buying the kit based on the first reviews which were positive and now I'm stuck with a dog. The detailed review on Armorama show were Dragon messed up trying to save, time?, money? and use a lot of the M48 molds. The M48A3 looks very good though. It looks like the MTB70 is another poor kit. A mix between 2 different German prototypes. Major work needed to make it US. It does look cool though. I spent the late 70s driving an M60A1 in Germany so I got to block alot of traffic. TC
  8. Very nice indeed, I see that you added the fuel lines to the fender tanks, scratch or aftermarket? I have 3 in the stash and that detail adds a lot to the final product. There is a group build at Armorama for the T54/55/62 starting in January. Again very nice especially the weathering. TC
  9. Is it their version of the Canadian Army trophy from the old NATO days? TC
  10. God I remember those. Noisy cold and always breaking down. HQ Troop had them not the line units. TC
  11. Either the newer Tamiya or Dragon Panthers should fit the bill. Dragon for detail or Tamiya for ease of assembly. Dragon had a D, E and G, Tamiya late Gs are nice. I sure there is a ton of aftermarket PE its German. TC
  12. Why not use Army trousers, Marine jackets, Air Force boots, Navy hats and Coast Guard underwear problem solved all services represented. It really was stupid in the first place, BDUs used to be fine for everyone. Let them all take pride in their dress uniforms and keep the bad guys guessing who they are fighting. As a retired soldier I think the Marine pattern looks the best. Glad I never had to wear ACUs. TC
  13. Had me fooled I thought he was talking about New Jersey at first. TC
  14. If it excelled at protecting the homeland why were so many cites destroyed? Was it waiting for more B-25s. TC
  15. Too funny guys. :thumbsup:/> :lol:/> Can't compete won't even try. TC
  16. I had those kits, what a blast from the past. That was when they were more useful battling my army men then on the shelf. I started building tank models because the selection of tanks to go with the army men was so poor. if you wanted good tank support for your troops you had to buy and build models. Then one thing lead to another a hobby is born. TC
  17. I bought one and my local hobbyshop carries quite a few. they are nicely detailed and professionally painted. if you want a model of a certain tank but don't want to build it they are an excellent option. They basicly do all of the Dragon 1/72 kits even the amtracks. Trumpeter also builds them almost as nice and a bit cheaper. TC
  18. Just a few observations an painting tracks: know what they are made of are they rubber, rubber and steel, steel only. The rubber sections should be grey black. With the Merkava its steel tracks, now what are they driving in. I have seen the steel parts on an M60A1 driving in sand polished to a chrome like shine. they rust over in a few days but it can happen. Any metal to metal contact points, the center guides, end connecters and sprocket teeth are a brillant shiny steel. I always pick out those parts with silver, even driving through mud those parts keep there shine due to constant metal t
  19. Rob does great work. I have his conqueror book and the first Chieftan one. He posts on Missing Lynx and Armorama as well. Great series on Youtube with 6 experts talking tanks on TheChieftanswot channel, They also go over certain tanks in extreme detail. Good stuff. TC
  20. Thanks, I will have to try it. The tank is nearly done then I realized it wouldn't be accurate without the lower wading gear which was welded on. keep rolling out the Shermans. TC
  21. Really nice builds, how did you make the fording stacks on the M4A2? I have one in the works that I want to add the lower parts to say D-plus 4 or so. Iwo has a special place in my heart, my great Uncle made the ultimate sacrifice there. He was a machine gunner with the 4th Division. Again great work. TC
  22. RIP Mr Durning, I got to meet him a few years back. He had a great sense of humor, a real nice guy. He will be missed. TC
