  4. Weird he could mail you your package back but couldn’t just complete the trade and send the F-4 kit instead 🧐 My encounter with this guy required me constantly barraging him to get my kit mailed to me. Never again.
  5. Latest build is finished and off the bench. This is the 1/48 Czech Model F3D-2 Skyknight finished with Aeromaster decals for VMCJ-2 "Playboys". Kit is finished with Mr Color 315 for the topside grey and Mission Models white and black paint on the bottom and nose. AK Xtreme Metalizers were used for all metallic shades. Overall finish is gloss from Mission Models. The kit is what one would expect for a short run kit and is definitely not a weekend build. My fuselage halves were severely warped and it took a good deal of shimming to get the wings level. Good references are needed, as the k
  6. I picked up some of the AK Xtreme metals to try a few months back, and have not used anything since. It goes down well over either Tamiya gloss black or the AK black primer. It's super durable afterwards and can be shot directly out of the bottle without thinning. If you shoot it at 15 - 20 psi, it seems to lay down better than shooting it at low pressures. I believe the metal particulate size is smaller, so the finish won't be as grainy as other metal paints. Surface prep is still essential though, as it will not hide scratches.
  7. You posted in the archived topics, not the main general discussion board.
  8. Is “Arrestnig Hook” unique to the aircraft? I didn’t see that covered in your article, just curious, or if you had an easy to fix typo on your decal.
  9. Thanks for the feedback. That’s disappointing to hear, but won’t keep me from getting the kit. Hopefully, like you said, someone comes to the rescue with a replacement canopy.
  10. I’ve got an old Black Box pit that looks like it will work with the KH kit per themodellingnews blog, so the PE will hit the scrap bin pretty quickly. Has anyone tried fitting the Revell canopy and windscreen to the KH kit? Having two Revell kits in my stash, that might be a quick solution to the flattened canopy issue.

  12. Check your references, on your burner can the metal color used for the exhaust goes too far forward. You will want to paint the grays all the way back to the curved panel line on the exhaust.

  14. First model for 2018 off the bench. This is the 1/48 Kinetic E-2C Hawkeye with Fightertown Decals for a Hummer from VAW-115. ModelMaster enamels were used, along with a black panel wash from The Detailer. This kit is by no means an easy build and required a lot of forethought during assembly. Despite adding an enormous amount of weight, the folded wing option still shifted the CG aft and made this a tailsitter when I installed the radar dish. This necessitated burying more weight in the nacelles. The beautiful seamless intakes from Quickboost ended up housing additional weight. Thank go
  15. Perfect plastic putty is your friend for that gap. It can be applied and will dry quickly, then it can be blended with a q-tip dipped in water.
  16. Title says it all. I’m looking for sheet 48-055 S-2Tracker Trefethen from Fightertown for the S-2E/G. I recently picked up a Stoof and want an upgrade for the kit markings. Let me know if you’ve got it, along with a shipped price to zip code 46158. Thanks! Brian
