Hey, some of us like working on 'primeval' kits! Especially when they are available at almost primeval prices :)
  2. Thank you very much people, that's exactly what I was looking for. Don't know why the great Google is unable to find these pictures.
  3. Wondering if anyone knows of any photographs showing ground intake covers for the inlets on the MiG-25; I've found some shots of the exhaust covers, but can't find any for the other end. Thanks.
  4. I buy my baggies from the local dollar store chains (The Dollar Tree) for...you guessed it, a buck a box. Usually around 60 baggies per box, and they come in various sizes too. I only put one sheet in each baggie, and then I store them in a binder I bought from Wal-Mart with clear document protectors, two in each protector. I use the smaller 'half sized' baggies (around 5 3/4" x 2 1/2") for storing the clear parts in the box from kits that didn't come with them separately bagged.
  5. I did a 'test' canopy with Micro Mark "Micro Mask" last night, and went to cut the frames and spray this morning. Results were iffy at best. I had problems with sections sticking to the canopy (lost one entire panel-it just waffled right off) and with bleed under in many spots. The canopy itself had been given a coat of Future prior to coating with the stuff, and I did use a new #11 X-acto blade to cut the frames. I followed the directions on the bottle by using a 'thin layer'. 1: Should I have laid the Micro Mask on thicker? 2: Was surface prep not enough? As the canopy is coated in Future
  6. 'Morning all! I am debating picking up the venerable Heller Potez 541 inter-war bomber as one just popped up at my LHS from an estate sale. Does anyone have any photos or drawings of the interior appointments, or other good reference materials? The insides of this kit are spartan to say the least, and if I purchase it and scratch up an interior I'd like to have it at least somewhat resemble fact-not-fiction. Thanks.
  7. As far as the "Grach" (Frogfoot) AFAIK the KP/Kopro kits of the single and dual seat version are the most accurate in outline, though some of the detailing OOB will fail to inspire and will put one in for some work.
  8. Haven't posted any of the progress on my Boomerang for quite some time; I work slowly and also wanted to get it to a point where I could post something I thought was worthwhile. It has come perilously close to becoming a wall-impacting-projectile on several occasions due to a nasty dose of AMS hitting me and some 'accidents' on this one, and I SWEAR (no, really Your Honor, I do) that I will not get this carried away again, at least not for a long time. I am going to subscribe to the Mike Grant and Allan Buttrick school of K.I.S.S. on the next few! So without further ado, here are the graphics:
  9. The few times I've done so in the past, I've used regular old, and widely available, Evergreen clear plastic sheets to attempt vac'ing canopies, sometimes with success and sometimes not. My questions today are: 1)What is a more recommended material (I've heard PETG, Acrylic, even Lexan)? 2)What thickness of sheet to use (1/72 kits)? I'll be doing this with my trusty old Mattel Vac-U-Former I picked up off EvilBay years ago, and have actually rarely used. Thanks.
  10. Can't seem to find it anywhere, and needs references for my build. Can anyone help me?
  11. Yes, I've seen the Neomega and the Vector Mercury engines and, while very nice, they are also twice the cost each of what they are going into--the old Frog/Airlines Fokker D.XXI. I was looking to see how good the E&T ones are as they can be had for less than $5US right now.
  12. "Believe none of what you read, and only half of what you see." ;)
  13. Can anyone vouch for the quality of the various 1/72 radial engines from Engines & Things, particularly the Bristol Mercury? I can't seem to find any good pics of them on the internet to either convince me to purchase them or avoid them like the plague and just scratch build my own. Thanks.
  14. I quit. I'm giving all of my stuff to the homeless guy down in the park.
  15. Great modelling of a piece of history that is rarely touched on nowadays.

    PBJ-1J help

That is a great link Shawn, thanks!
  17. Thank you very much for posting this!
  18. I can't answer either of those two questions, but I can send you some PE mirrors. They're from an old Model Technologies set that went with the old Monogram A-4E Skyhawk "High Tech" release. I have no use for what's left of the sheet which includes mirrors.
  19. There are no images for us to view.....
  20. Thanks John, that's what I figured but needed a second opinion.
  21. Need help from a Lightning expert: were the four (two per side) aux air inlet doors, on the fuselage above the wings, open when the Lightning was at altitude? Most of the pics from sites like Airliners.net etc are not really useful as the photos usually occur when the a/c are parked or during take off/landing and of course show them open at those times. I'm mucking about on the old Airfix F.3 in 72nd, and I plan to display the finished project in-flight on burner going near vertical. The quandry is that I already filled the irregularly shaped caverns that Airfix thought passed for the aux do
  22. Calling shotgun on the MPC Kaman Seasprite, and if possible the Matchbox Meteor NF! Shoot me a PM with details, RotorheadTX
