hemspilot
Howdy all, I have just seen a couple of photos of LN Eagles sporting a slight metallic sheen on their camo. Does anyone know whether the Have Glass finish is being extended to the F-15 as well?

11bee
The Eagle would like nice in that paint. Wonder if the basic airframe has any RCS reduction measures built in or if it’s too old.
hemspilot
I saved the photo and cannot find it again online. And it’s too large to upload. It’s a C model from Lakenheat, AF84-001.
phantomdriver
I remember earlier this year, a short editorial in Air Forces mag mentioning it, along with the radar upgrades... Wish I'd kept the copy now..
Jaypack44
One of the three heritage birds from Lakenheath was a C, but was painted in the same dark gray (36118) as the two Es, I assume for consistency's sake. I don't remember ever seeing a "Light Gray" Eagle in anything other than the standard grays (besides the ASB, aggressors, and some of the early experimental stuff, of course) otherwise, but wouldn't mind being proven wrong - the F-15 looks good no matter what color it is! Trojan Thunder
Here is a picture of the Lakenheath Heritage jet 84-0010 on Airliners.net. Is this the one you are thinking of?

foxmulder_ms
It is not have glass. It is just special paint for D-Day celebrations.
foxmulder_ms
P.S. I actually LOVE to have decals for these two Es and one C. I really liked the special pattern on them. Someone hopefully will produce them in 1/48. I think great wall has a 1/72 boxing already.

hemspilot
Great picture of 84-010, the one I have is 84-001 in standard Mod Eagle , except for the sheen. Edited September 4, 2019 by hemspilot
BoeingDriver
When gunship grey rolls out of paint, it has a sheen to it for a while. No Have Glass for Eagles.
foxmulder_ms
Video of the D-day F-15s. Somebody please 1/48 decals. Emergency 😄
Waco
As mentioned, there is no HG paint on F-15s, of any flavor. The Heritage bird in question above was painted overall gunship gray, so as to be carrying the same basic scheme as it’s two sister birds from the Strike squadrons at Lakenheath. They do look pretty good altogether, and it was certainly interesting seeing gunship gray on a C-model. D-Day 75th Print

D-Day 75th Print Waco, like I mentioned earlier, the picture I have is before the special color was applied. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

mungo1974
The only jet I've ever known to come close. 412th Test Wing F-15A 77-0139 1998 https://www.airliners.net/photo/USA-Air-Force/McDonnell-Douglas-F-15A-Eagle/2173143/L?qsp=eJyrVkrOzytJrSgJqSxIVbJSSsxJKs1V0lEqSCxKzC1WsqqGiHimKFkZGVoYW9bWAgDBHhDc Edited October 25, 2019 by mungo1974

Apparently a test bed for the F-22 colors.
