You did a great job on the IRIAF Phantom, and I must say this approach (finishing what's started before starting something else) would gain to be better known :) Arnaud

Hello Pete, any progress? Your fan club is waiting ;) Arnaud PS Don't ask about my own Tomcat builds, it would be offending ;) I'm working on it, promise...

Excellent looking phantom Pete! Did you take the pictures outside? The colours look a bit funny but it might just be my screen...

I was about to say, if you have a VF-213 question ask Nick. There are a few things I would not have gotten right without him for this build

CVW-8 Tomcat launch
arnobiz replied to arnobiz's topic in Centennial of Naval Aviation Superbuild and Contest
Thanks Holmes! Funnily enough I resumed work on this project this morning: I have to finish the JBD arms and then cast them. I now have seats and pilots so no excuse to postpone it further :) Arnaud -
Haha let the fun begin on July 1st then :) Just got myself a couple of Hawkeyes in addition to the stash of Tomcats, will have to make a choice (Or not ;) but probably so considering how slow a builder I am :() Arnaud

Nice project. You have to be very careful with Hasegawa as they release their kits in old (raised) and new (engraved) versions in a random way for many aircraft (e.g. F-14, F-16, F-4) which is quite annoying. The best indication is probably the price: Around £10 it is very likely to be an old mold. No idea why they don't just phase out the old molds... Good luck with the build, Arnaud

What are you looking for? What do you have? -
Nice pictures, thanks for sharing! Arnaud

Very nice! This front bumper is probably pretty dangerous for pedestrians but looks fancy :)

Use acrylic. Most enamels will yellow due to solvent issues from what I understand.

I'm in with a Hawkeye or a Tomcat (1/72 of course ;))! Arnaud

The instrument panels are decals? Wow, they look very nice, I thought it was Eduard pre-painted PE. Well done! Arnaud

What if your kit arrived in the mail like this?
arnobiz replied to DutyCat's topic in General Discussion
Ouch! I would certainly not be happy :( Did you contact them? -
Thanks for the support guys! I modified the Hasegawa spine, which is wrong because they wanted to make both the -E and -F kits from the same top fuselage. As a consequence they put a panel line where there is none and forgot one. Here is a picture from my first SH, where I had not noticed the problem and thus left it as it was: And here is the corrected spine. First time I engraved a new panel line and put rivets on it, it will be straighter next time :)/> I am now working on the cockpit, more to come ;)/>/> Thanks for watching, Arnaud

Very neat, thanks for sharing! Arnaud

Looking excellent so far. PE soldering looks like a great way of building something that will last, I should give it a try sometime. Don't worry for the colour yet, if you weather it with dust etc.. at the end it will look the part. My experience with armor is that weathering is best kept until the end and your friends are pastel for the dust and artists' oil paint for the oil streaks etc... A useful thing too is the stuff construction people use to fill small holes in walls (don't know the English word :(). It makes perfect mud when applied lightly on the wheels and chassis. This is an old

Didn't ESCI come up with an F-15 "satellite killer" boxing? This might contain the missile you're after Just kidding

Maybe because it was obvious ;) For the spine there is a big benefit to spraying thin (and few) coats: If the red area is too thick you will get a step between red and grey and that would not do would it? Arnaud

1/72 Hasegawa Hawkeye belly part (D1)
arnobiz replied to arnobiz's topic in The Spares Box - add scale to your title
Brilliant, I look forward to hearing from you! Does anyone have spare 8-blades props? Thanks, Arnaud -
Congratulations on a great build, I con't believe the amount of work that went into this kit to achieve this result Arnaud
-
No problem for the spine: mask it, spray a thin coat of white, and then start with the red ;)

Hello, I have two Hasegawa Hawkeyes but I am missing the belly part D1 (the old style one, not the Hawkeye 2000 part). Would anyone have a spare to trade? Also, would anyone have 8-blades props they are not using? I have a number of 1/72 things I can trade for this, thanks in advance for your help! Arnaud
