  1. Rather nice job there Neil! I wish models I packed away for 15 years looked that good when removed from storage!
  2. Thanks Bill, Revell are reissuing this kit this year as part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations (along with the cutaway 747). So if you don't want a collector's item and just want to build the thing then it might be worth waiting a few months to get one at a reasonable price!
  3. Anthony, These kits were issued around the early to mid 90s, you will be hard pressed to find one now and if you do can you grab one for me as well? :D They would be in a small fortune on EBay I expect. I even asked Dave Koss (owner of Leading Edge about one) and he doesn't even have any left. Edit: I might add that Dave is looking at reissueing the kit as a 604 but it is a long way down his projects list. So good luck
  4. FANTASTIC! Thanks Stephen, just what I need! :D
  5. And when said system is on is it making the ozone hole bigger?
  6. That's coming along Nicely John! Great work so far! -_-
  7. I expect that is a 'loaner' engine. Perhaps from the USN. The Kiwi P-3s are painted in a much darker grey than other operators. Also be aware that the NZ P-3Ks are based on the P-3B. There are a few mods required to change the Hasegawa P-3C to a P-3B. Some include filling the sonobuoy tubes under the fuselage, removal of the sensor pod under the inner wing and adding/replacing a window or two.
  8. Here is a link to the Roberts - Combat Models web page. As Chappie mentioned, there is only a parts set available according to the page.
  9. Anthony, The Falcon vac conversion does not include the antennae, if you are going to use this conversion you will need to consult references. Also you need to be mindful of the time period you are modelling the EP-3E in, there have been upgrades and the antenna fit has chnaged over time. I myself don't know what has changed. Best to pick a reference picture and try and model that aircraft.
  10. Nice work Daniel, and a great job with the custom made decals. Was it very difficult to make the decals yourself? I would like to do a few different schemes that aren't availble at the moment. :D
  11. I know about this method, have you tried it with transparent piece in place, like windscreens. I suppose you need to make sure that you cockpit sections are well sealed so the epoxy doesn't get into the nicely detailed flight deck Yes same here, that is why I have started to 'collect' vacs Bert, a lot of these obscure types will never make it into injection moulded production. :D
  12. Ditto here, the ones I picked up from the local newsagent had the window. Perhaps these first issue kits never made it to Australia?
  13. Nice work Pappy :D How is Sunny Amberley? Welcome to ARC!
  14. Sanger in the UK do the larger 1/48 kits, though not many transports (none from you list anyway). Here is the link:Sanger :D
  15. Well it looks like there are quite a few who dabble inthe dark art of vacform building. Thanks for the links, I hope to have one of my vacs started soon. Looks like the profile gauge that Karl uses is a great idea for getting the bulkheads the right size. will have to invest in one.
  16. Been following this thread with great interest, nice work Randy! ;) The weathering technique works well, do you keep taping up the wheel wells each layer of paint you do to keep the overspray out? And how did you paint the cockpit, looks very effective!
  17. I have got a few in the stash now, the most recent additions have been a Contrail 1/72 Convair 440, ID Models 1/72 HS-748 and a Contrail 1/72 Avro Lincoln. I was wondering how many out there have vacforms (built and unbuilt) in their collections and if you have any tips as to their construction. On another note how much detail do you add to your vacforms when you build?
  18. Well thanks for bringing the Boeing GB to my attention Ant, was not aware of it. Obviously it originated from another part of the forums. I have blenty of Boeings, civil and military to build so I'm in if it happens. The Douglas GB idea sounds good as well. Good range or civil and military subjects around based on civil airframes. I have just got a hold of the Minicraft DC-8-71 and will do it as a French Air Force DC-8-72, got the decals for it already :D So I could hang on with that build.
  19. It may be a close match, what was mentioned on the Airliner Modelling Digest when these piants were issued was that you can play around with the base coat, in this case the Virgin Atlantic Grey with other shades of grey, to get a different effect. The pearlescent coating gives the final effect. It is the base colour that will determine how dark or light the overall effect is.
  20. Airline Hobby Supplies based in Arizona sells Xtracolor paints
  21. Thanks Terry, I know about the Flightpath Allison T56 Engines, Ron's Resin in Australia also make a set. These are for late model E to H C-130s I am after info/plans on the Rolls Royce AE2100D3s fitted to the C-130J which have a totaly different nacelle shape. The Italeri engines have the general shape but could be much better.
  22. Well this picture is now in the hands of someone with the technology to make decals. He needs a bit more info as to how it looks on top and on the other side but a sheet may be available sometime soon!
  23. I was wondering if there are any 3 view diagrams avaiable for the C-130J engine nacelles. I am planning on correcting/replacing the Italeri 1/72 versions as they don't look quite right. <_<
