  1. Here is a pic of the Tsukuda kit (top), modified to a MF... note the wing fences. At bottom is the Academy PF (i think!), note: no wing fences. All of them are missing wheel well bulges on fuselage.
  2. ha ha, if that doesnt describe pure joy, i wouldnt know what does... thanks for sharing... love hueys... and to Gregg,... thanks ha ha ha
  3. You really need door mounted 60's, never know when you might need them! Julien LOL, esp for ex football players trying to escape from a murder scene. Does this huey have a WOP WOP sound? its not a real huey unless it does.
  4. i had a Tsukuda boxing from the 80s. if you really want a PF look for the prebuilt/prepainted F-Toys/Furuta offerings. They are quite affordable on evilbuy. i bought a couple so i can reglue and repaint them. i suspect the F-Toys/Furuta versions are panto'ed from the 1/72 Fujimi 21s with the exact same errors - but they are still miles ahead of the Minicraft/Revell/Tsukuda version. HTH!
  5. stunning build, really nice weathering! makes me want to pull out my 1/72 scale one now!!! The x wing is def one of the best looking SW fighters, even if it has a sherman tank shoved up its @ss. i do like the torrent and v wings from the 'newer' generation designs, too.
  6. Maybe Mr. Cruise is filming Top Gun 2 to revive his flagging career...
  7. ah, if only things were that simple nowadays (eyes mist over in nostalgia...)
  8. LOL, yeah i enjoyed the movie too, i was in tokyo for two weeks, felt quite alienated as i didnt hv much conversations with anyone (not being able to speak japanese didnt help!), yes did enjoy the romance in the story... it has a surprising kinda twist at the end, classic mamoru oshii... surprising also was the nudity (albeit minor), first i have ever seen in a 'mainstream' anime movie. when i say nudity i mean human nudity, not android etc etc.
  9. yeah great review! i do prefer this design to the sanka mk b... this looks like a cross between a Ta152/F4U... i think i will buy one of these (as soon as the aussie dollar stops heading south)
  10. uhh, the trailers ARE the best bits of the film... trust me. if you are expecting gobfuls of dogfights in the movie, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. i caught this movie while i was in tokyo in august... surprising, the audience wasnt what i expected.... more middle class 'normal' people, half were women. i felt like i was the youngest guy there...
  11. thanks for the the review moritz! are you gonna build and paint as per the instructions? or are you gonna make up your own paint scheme?
  12. Wow the well written background history/story brings the model to life. I mean, the model is IMHO superbly built, but with all that research that went into the story... BOOM! Loved reading your article and looking at the pics. Thanks for sharing!
  13. WOW, these are great tips... i can now march forward in confidence without spilling a drop of decanted paint!!! ;) Thanks heaps everyone!!!!!!!
  14. Oh, cool! Thanks, David! Would you know if I can use the Gunze lacquer thinners?
  15. I am planning to decant some Tamiya paint for airbrushing, what would you suggest as thinner? Also for clean-up of the airbrush unit after use? Thanks in advance, any advice appreciated!
  16. just a suggestion, why dont you just buy the hasbro toy and repaint and detail it? Might be an easier route to take?
  17. Let us know when you receive the kits, give us a review if you can...! the 1/48 kit looks good esp with the working contra rotating props. even though i dont build much 1/48, i may have to give in to this one. the twin 1/72 kit is good value though! I also wonder if they'll release the twin tailed fighter that also appears in the movie, it looks really cool, like a Luft 46 bird along the lines of an Arado. OT: its a pity the game is available only on the Wii platform, would be nice if it came out on PS3.
  18. That's a great looking craft! You have talent, sir!
  19. hey i caught that movie in tokyo last month!!! be careful though, its actually a really loooong love story with a twist at the end. and the flying sequences are fantastic, even though there isnt enuf of it... i mean it, the flying sequences can all be edited into a 5 minute short clip. if any one of you have caught mamoru oshii's recent films like patlabor 3 or jin-roh/wolf brigade, you'll know what i mean.... "Bandai also does a 1/72 kit of another plane, which looks kinds of like a jacked-up F2G Corsair with a Fw190D nose." that plane is also featured in the movie, it belongs to the adver
  20. i cut those ugly mounds off with a razor saw, then trimmed and sanded the remains down. put plastic card backing on the inside, when dry, just putty the hole. HTH!
  21. add the pitroad/trumpeter F35 kit into the mix and you may have more decals that are needed! BTW i have the above kit, what the hell were thy thinking when they did the gear doors? its got these massive huge columms for hinges! it really screws up the kit! i'll hv to post some pics if someone is interested in seeing the kit.
  22. lovely builds indeed... i think i'll put mine together too... anyone watch indiana jones, they had that scene of the sabres flying past, not a closeup but still nice nevertheless....
