  1. The bomb bays mostly went through a ''functionality'' modification rather than detailing. I also kept a subtle weathering overall. So, to open and close, I added some magnets on specific places, embedded metal rods on the opposite sides (to the doors), and two pins on both sides of the bay, to keep the doors at an equal distance from each other while open.
  2. wowsers! Quite the mods here! 🙂 Would you display it with a mirror underneath? How much of all this will be visible anyway... It sits pretty close to the surface and only the front wheel bay can be ''somehow'' seen, and only from the one side (the view from the other side is completely blocked by the wheel bay door). I did this kit a few years ago - it is an awesome kit, and you transformed into a masterpiece so far. Keep it on! And cheers.
  3. I did a conversion of this kit 🙂 :
  4. Howdy! 🙂 I can't wait to catch up with the recent pages and I'm sure it will be an amazing adventure. Just that last picture with the decals on and the weathering is enough to me to say ''it's gorgeous''. Gorgeous!
  5. Awesome looking! Yeah, lacquer paints love thinning. Btw, why are these darker sprinkles and unevently painted areas around the rear side of the canopy? Is it an effect (for after the masking) or maybe contaminated paint or so...
  6. 10x Mr.Happy & All! So the MLG is basically done (only a few tiny decals have to be added to the wheels), but the retraction is far from realistic... 🙂 so no video of it. The wheel wells went through a major ''renovation'' mainly to accept the larger tires (aftermarket resin, a bit larger than the original rubber ones) - here they are before: And after. The still open/visible areas will be covered by the upper fuselage itself. It was a fairytale the whole fitting process and it's not pretty, but at least it works good. Note the doors are a
  7. These APU parts look like cyberpunk engines. 🙂 And everything else is... simply put, awesoooome! Cheers.
  8. I'm joining the party a bit late, but... Awesome 3D prints, and it's looking gorgeous!
  9. Here is the nose landing gear retraction: The door is closed with just a pressfit, it fits flawlessly. And a few pix of the NLG extended: ...with a flashlight pointed at the bay: The MLGs are on the go. 🙂 Cheers!
  10. Hi Mr.Happy and 10x for the kind words. 🙂 Here is the update... the cockpit and NLG are finally ready (only a few minor add-ons are remaining, but I'll do them after the main assembly of the fuselage). Check it out: The IR provision on the bottom side is also ready, nothing much is visible, as I hope it will look nicely contrasting with the flat black surface of the fuselage once painted...
  11. 10x all! I can't believe it's being so long, but I'm so happy to resume this build. ☺️ So here are the most recent upgrades: 1) The zig-zag patterms along the front canopy edge are mounted: 2) the intake/exhaust ducts also: The engine faces are partially visible through the intake relieve doors when open: and 3) the air refueling doors are glued and sanded flush: Next I plan to finish the cockpit/nose gear bay assembly... Happy holidays y'all! 🎄✨
  12. Oooh, it is looking very very nice. A very GJ with these rivets... the decal film underneath adds an awesome illusion like there is a connection between two panels...
  13. Howdy! 🙂 A very intriguing and nice looking rescribing adventure! Looks fantastic, but likely a very long adventure on the horizon... then adding rivets...
  14. That's a production line! 🙂 A very nice topic for the build, and I like especially the Tomcat. How about the B-1, did you consider adding it to the collection as well?
  15. Lastly - the pilot figure/seat assembly. It is not 100% ready yet, there are small things left to do, like adding the hose and the control sticks. Anyway, here is the seat before the painting. And together with the pilot figure: and a testfit with the cockpit: Cheerio guys! All this was done quite some time ago... Now I started with the adding of the zig-zag PE patterms along the front edge of the canopy. A few days of drying and sanding, and hopefully updates are coming soon. 🙂 🍻
  16. Then, at one moment throughout these months, I started editing the bomb bays also to be open-able. For this, the doors should open and close, the launchers should extend and retract... and, those little ''airflow brakers'' (or I'm not sure about their exact names) should also move together with the doors. Their entire mechanisms were molded at once with the front walls of the bomb bays, so I deleted them, and will have to make them moveable as well. Meanwhile, the ''airflow brakers/disturbers...'' are improved by making them separate pices and making them with larger
  17. You have probably noticed the holes for their hinges... 🙂 So yeah, I'll make them moveable - for two displays of the model - one in parked position (gear down, flaperons down, canopy open, etc...) and in in-flight mode with everything retracted. These are the ''hinges'': And testfitted inside the flaperons. There were quite some modifications from the flaperon side as well: The thing is... they don't work perfectly... Still quite a bit of adjustments are required, but I'm optimistic I can make them move as they should.
  18. Howdy 🙂 I missed this topic so much, and I'm finally resuming it! So, throughout that year or two I actually did some things every once in a while. I'll try to summrize these edits in a couple of posts. Firslty - edits of the flaperons and the control surfaces. Check out how sharp their faceted edges look like in original photos. So other than the sharpening of these edges, I also changed/added new facets along the innermost flaperons (towards the fuselage), highlighted in some of the pics below... and here is how they look like, in comparison - the u
  19. Yep, Stratolaunch was always the world's largest plane by wingspan... so now it keeps new records I guess. Whilst for the Mriya... wellll... it's a sad thing indeed. Anyway, there are some crazy giant RC models around - they woud stay a great tribute to the real deal, not to mention that a bunch of new models could appear soon in different scales... https://youtu.be/QAEg5Ut9Kho
  20. Guys, has anyone heard of decals or resin decals that imitate sewing and/or stitches for leather upholstery? I'm quite far from this topic so I just would like to try and ask here... I did a thorough reseatch but found nothing. For example, how to imitate stitches along the edges of leather upholstery in 1:12 scale or even 1:8. Is there any easy/efficient way to do it? Thanks & cheers! 🙂
  21. Thanks much! I did further research and I think I found enough clues. I think MRP-48 Super Clear Gloss got to do the thing as it is acrylic lacquer. Thanks again. Helped a lot!
  22. Hi guys 🙂 I have a little bit of a strange question, of course about something that I do for the first time and I'm just slightly precautious. So, is it good to spray 2-composite polyurethane varnish over a celulose/lacquer varnish? What I mean specifically is that I already sprayed Tamiya LP-9 Clear and now I would like to finish with a wet coat of MRP-279 2K for an even better gloss finish. Is it a good combination? Does anyone try that before? Should I have any concerns about cracks of the Tamiya lacquer or of the paint underneath (it is also MRP metalizer, celulose/lacuqer paint)? I n
