  1. I think if I am reading it right, the added parts will work but the direction and location of the parts is unclear. I'm finding that more and more in kits these days - errors in the instructions. Things like numbers switched around or the part is turned around in the illustration. I'm looking forward to the Osprey COD. I'm going to do some surgery to it to show it all folded and tucked so it can join my other folded CODs in the collection.
  2. Perhaps I'm used to building limited-run kits like Sword, Special Hobby, Valom, and Roden, but I didn't have much trouble with the Twogar kits that I built. I think the nose wheel is too small, and I replaced it on one of the two models. I made the trainer using Caracal decals, and I made the Marine FastFAC out of the box:
  3. Yes. Hobbycraft Canada's original kit was made in Korea. Academy is a Korean company. Wolfpack is a Korean company. Rebadging plastic kits has been going on since the 1950s all over the world. It's what helps keep the hobby (and the industries) alive!
  4. I really like that kit, too. But I don't think it was a Monogram original. Revell in Germany reissued it and a G (German) model AND a two-seater. It may have been based on the Monogram 1/48 kit but I don't know that for sure. I think it may have been done in Korea as did some of Monogram's and Revell's other kits about that time.
  5. The HH-3/CH-3 has been neglected for decades. Only the Revell and Aurora kits in 1/72 scale were ever widely available, and they came out in the late '60s - early '70s. Whirlybirds did a 1/72 res HH-3H Pelican (Coast Guard) but it's pretty rare. I've never seen a larger scale HH-3/CH-3. The Navy's SH-3 Seaking is another matter, however, but you can't get there from here.
  6. Nice Texan. Kit? Scale? More information will help us all appreciate your work!
  7. Seems right. Also known as "Boeing gray" and used on the E-3 Sentry (AWACS) and E-8 Joint Stars. I still have a couple of bottles of MM saved up!
  8. Ah! So they did both! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/wolfpack-wp17205-t-45c-goshawk--1006613
  9. I was under the impression that the Wolfpack kit was a 1/72 scale Italeri kit with new resin parts to correct several deficiencies. Maybe I'm wrong.
  10. The 1/72 scale F-35B was issued in 2018. The CV-22 was issued in 2013. As an aside, Xtradecal has just issued a new 1/72 sheet for F-35C. Som test jets but a few squadron birds. These will have to go on Orange Hobby kits for now.
  11. Orange Hobby makes a pretty decent 1/72 scale F-35C. It features weapons bays, exterior ordnance, folded wings, and even a hangar-deck tug. I want to repaint mine with more colorful markings someday.
  12. Here's Revell/Monogram's 1/72 scale F-104C from the Vietnam war. I used Gunze Mr. Color lacquers and Caracal's decal sheet for "My Darlin' Dorothy," the third model in my collection with my wife's name on it! Built this kit on Monday, painted on Tuesday, decaled on Wednesday, and final assembly today.
  13. Thanks, Dutch! Aware! I may get the kit right away, but I'll wait for more colorful markings to come along to finish it.
  14. Here's a Scorpion that I hope to do someday. It's from the 59th FIS (I think) and could have been a one-off as there are others in this unit with marking that are not this ornate. Note the flag rudder and the tiny black stars in the yellow areas.
  15. Still don't know. Read separate post.
  16. No fine tuning of the timing, just 2023. I wouldn't complain; they announced they were working on it maybe six years ago. I can wait a little longer.
  17. The value of reference photos is that they show what an airplane looked like at an instant in its history - about 1/250th of a second on average. The photo Kursad cites proves what it looked like for that instant. However, the photo is not evidence what the aircraft looked like earlier or later, so a black bottom is certainly possible and not necessarily incorrect on a model.🙂
  18. Here's the now-classic AMT/Ertl/Esci 1/72 scale KC-135A Stratotanker done up with Caracal's decals. I liked the Fairchild scheme that came in the kit, so that's why I went with Caracal's much better rendition of the "Seahawks" logo. Enjoy!
  19. And is toss-bombing Snakeyes a thing?🤔
  20. Nope. That one says "could not be found on this server." It offers three others, 144002, 144006, and 144008 but they are for C-141 and C-5s. 😕
  21. I'm building the 1/72 scale AMT KC-135A tanker and want to use the Caracal set No. CD72020 General Purpose Markings. The instructions state for more detailed diagrams, go to a web page on Caracal's site. I do so, and the page says "work in progress." Was this ever completed? The sheet is a couple of years past issue. Has the info been archived somewhere?
  22. I was on a C-5A with two Chinooks in it.😃
  23. I think I remember seeing CAD drawings of the Kinetic C-17 years ago, and they showed a lot of interior detail. I also recalled that they were concerned on how expensive the kit would be. I don't understand why manufacturers put in loads of interior detail where you'll never see it. Do you know that there is a roll of toilet paper molded onto the wall of the latrine in the AMT/Ertl 1/72 scale KC-135 kits? Why? No way you can see it on the built model; it's between two bulkheads way behind the flight engineer/navigator's station. And you can't even see those crewmen's seats through the small co
  24. Yes! But it became relatively hard to find, and Chevy engine red was more plentiful (at the time) and it's very close to the same color. I still have a couple of bottles of CER. Just used some on this Coastie HO4S-3G 1/72 scale Revell/Italeri:
