  1. Jennings don't know if it's still there but Wild Bill's in Irving TX had a couple on the shelves a couple of months ago. https://plus.google.com/108748442264978999600/about?gl=us&hl=en You might give them a call and see if they'll sell over the phone.
  2. I know you're asking for fiction but I realy enjoy reality. 4. Hi, I'll kick your sale off by taking the 1/48 Hasegawa F-4E #07208. How much for mailing to 73120 and how would you like payment?
  5. Small world. And If you realy need a fix theres a 2-1/2 hour drive to CRM hobbies in StL. THAT's worth the drive!
  6. I first noticed it from the Kiwi's when I was buying lots of kitsets from ebuy back in the 90's. Just a colloquialism that sneaks across the equator occasionally
  7. NICE build and review http://www.clubhyper.com/forums/groupbuild144frame.htm
  8. Unglued, I know there were Boeing engineering drawings used to make the AMT Tanker. The only disappointments I have are the wing droop issue (there is NONE on any tanker) and it doesn't say boeing on the MLG hubcaps.
  9. Sadly yes, an Army NCO was hitching a ride home space-A, the USAF Nav let him have a look out the sextant and pop.
  10. Unglued. I worked in the -135 engineering office at Tinker AFB from 77 to 88 and had contact with them through -98. The neat thing about KC-135A's that is interesting for modelers is that there are very very few external changes over the entire history of the A fleet. I did the first major change to the Pilot Director Lights sometime in the 80's and that was just re finishing the reflectors behind the light bulbs because the chroming was oxidizing and falling off. Other than paint the only other external changes between Vietnam and the last of the A models was the addition of the refueling
  11. Buy with confidence from Jeff, a true AF Blue gentleman!
  12. 1000 grit or finer sand paper to polish the blob off the surface. Then future then final coat.
  13. Couple of questions first; Are you in the US, and do you want enamels or acrylics?
  14. Take it in context. Up to that point the way you got a non flying a scale model was to carve and sand it out of wood.
  15. The FS equivalent to the WW-II ANA colors are found here: http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_us.htm ANA 613 Olive Drab, Topside of USAAF aircraft after 1943 FS:34084 41 Olive Drab Topside of USAAF aircraft until 1943 FS:23070 ANA 611 Interior Green FS:24151 (often very useful as the faded version of the above exterior colors. 43 Neutral Gray Lower surfaces in Olive Drab schemes FS:36173 You must remember that the picture is of a restored aircraft and MANY warbird owners are NOT sticklers for color perfection. They are often very happy with 'close enough' So
  16. Nice! No Murphy says you'll never ever have a need for it again and your kids will throw it away, still in the original package, totally rusted, never used. I helped a friend with some nut plates on his long-eze on the fairing over the gear. He was all set to bang and pound and BBRRRRTTT. I pulled out the self locking blind rivets and the rivet puller and did two SSSHHHPP/Snaps and we were done. The look of shock on his face was amazing! No one had ever told him they make high strength pop rivets.
  17. Off to a nice build so far. I got to ride in one of these at McConnell AFB KS while in ROTC Summer Camp in 1975. One point the S in ARRS is for squadron not service.
  18. Age 9 just short of my 10th Birthday on April 12. I didn't even know what it was. I wouldn't learn about this fantastic airplane till I was almost in my 30's.
  19. I don't have one but Airalex makes one in resin: Airalex resin Meteor
  20. Good morning all! Picked up a job of fixing up a 1/8 scale (yes, it's like 20 feet long) E-3A in a local museum that had been attacked by a three year old. Anyone know the information in the subject? I need to make new probe antennas for the fin and wing tip and it would be a big help if anyone had the model number or actual dimensions. TIA Tom in OKC
  21. I think the kid will have no problem with any of the snap kits out there. If he really likes aviation the Pegasus line of 1/48 snap together Kits are great: Pegasus kits The biggest problem is US! We've become so used to doing every thing "just right" that we forget the days of just slam one together. Give him the kit and a pair of sprue cutters and SIT BACK AND SHUT UP! That's a lesson I learned from my step kids over 25 years ago. Have fun.
  22. One of my college professors was a WW-II Mossie aircraft mechanic. He taught our A&P classes on wood working. He could carve a splayed wood patch with a pocket knife faster than you could blink. No, I think they'd always be repaired the 'proper' way with wood and fabric. My link
