  1. Fujimi; nice easy build, low parts count, fair cockpit detail (not an issue if canopy closed), finely engraved panel lines, looks right when finished. Ok decals but aftermarket is better. Hasegawa; don't have their RF-4, but if it is anything like their F-4B and F-4J, expect- More fussy build due to High parts count, 4 piece fuselage (front/back, both left and right halves) better but still not great cockpit (not an issue if canopy closed), finely engraved panel lines, loads of spare parts for the spares box, also looks right when finished. Zillions of stencel decals and probably more option
  2. I see 2 F-111s that are wingless. Is that it? What I am more interested in is the light coloured delta-winged aircraft in the same row as the F-14s, in the same park (and above of) the RA-5Cs. There is a camo jobbie (OV-10?), 3 F-14s, 2 F-4s, the thing that looks like a cross between an EA-6B/X-32 (too big for an F-16) and a Harrier AV-8A. What is it?
  3. At least it's still called Klear here in Ireland anyway, and if anybody is looking for some just ask me I can buy it in the local supermarket and post it to you.
  4. That scrubbed up rather well I think! I know what they are like (I bought a few for spare undercarraige parts to restore some old Matchbox kits) and as I got them even cheaper (€2.50) I figured I might try a couple. The EA-6B is a disaster, I can't even figure where to put the cockpit tub as everywhere I try it prevents the fuseleage halves from touching. I will use the pods and undercart on a Matchbox kit. The F-14 looks buildable though, and strangely it lacks misshapen nose of the Italeri kit it is based on. I've also seen a 1/48 F-111 built up nicely from one of those boxes. Still, the
  5. Why oh why doesn't anyone do all the subjects from that old Aeromaster sheet in 1/72? It'll sell I tell ya! now back to your regularly scheduled thread......
  6. Jeff, PM inbound. ThunderGrunt, Does she still wear any markings associated with that anniversary flight? Cheers, Roy
  7. So (aside from asthetic reasons) why where some aircraft painted with SILVER paint? (e.g P-51 Mustang wings, some 50s British jets, even the Irish Fouga Magisters?) Kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
  8. Was this scheme ever available in 1/72? If so, anyone got the decals to spare or know where I can get it?
  9. Some people here seem to have missed the point of my original posting. To those, I ask that you re-read my first post again. To me it speaks volumes that in the over two months since I paid, I have sent Mr Marbrey 11 or 12 emails/PMs in attempts to contact him. In return in those 2 months I got back 3 replies, the last two within an hour of each other and with contradicting information. Within 46 minutes of a Bad Trader notice I manage to get his attention. My point was not mainly the delay in the posting of the decals, or even the non-posting of the decals. My point was that if they HAD b
  10. OK, here it comes. Following on from a post here for 1/72 decal sheets for sale I sent an email (as instructed) to express my interest. That was about the 25 September. I got no reply. That should've warned me off. On the 2nd October I sent another mail after the original post was updated by the seller. The following day I got a reply explaining that the cost was $7 each and that while they had no placement guides these could be emailed to me. This mail also contained the paypal addy to send the money to. That evening I paypal'ed my $14 for two sheets and sent a reply stating I'll take two
  11. Dunno what he's talking about on that review, I have the Italeri kit and the wings are straight on mine, what did I miss? BTW, I found it a nice easy build. Cockpit and bomb doors were glued closed so no bother about 'inaccuracy'. Cheers, Roy
  12. I'm kinda in the same boat as Prowler4 above. It's been nearly 7 weeks since I paid, and 3 since the last communication that 'it's going in the post tomorrow.' I don't mind the waiting for the stuff (God knows I have more than enough to keep me busy for years) but the lack of communication is annoying to say the least. Now, it's only a miniscule amount of money, but if there is no more info soon I'll have to put it up here, much as I don't want to.
  13. Julien, would this get me into the US Navy SIG? or this.... Where are we meeting? There is a proposed time of 12 at wonderland models and also at the food hall for the Britmodeller one and for here at Wonderland???????????????
  14. :) Thanks, sorted. Working nights and brain refuses to get in gear.... google goggle......
  15. I'm there on the Saturday. What day? R
  16. Think this is the right place. http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=hfbz50gwsRM Kinda quaint 3 parter. Shiny new IIAF Tomcats. Ok, not shiny, rather matt but cool all the same. The M-61 cannons seem to have got some use.... Cheers, Roy
  17. Try holding it (the whole fuse) up to a very bright light and if you can see the holes mark them with a pin or no 11 scalpel blade point. Then drill, -by hand-; it should find it's own centre. If it's the lower fuse ones rather than the glove pylons, maybe find a small enough torch that will reach up inside the (hopefully still open) nozzles. Then try the same trick. HTH Roy Edit. Tomcatter beat me by a few seconds!
  18. whoa! Where did you get these pics?! Esp. the first one! Roy. (CVN-68 and CVW-8 nut.)
  19. Not mine unfortunately! http://www.irishairpics.com/database/searc...0III&u=type

    What about the matchbox?
  21. Super vid, thanks for the link! Got to Duxford for the first time in my life this year. Awesome!
  22. I don't think it's an attempt at an aerobatic team. It's a couple of prototypes/pre-productions. And they picked that colour cos they know the bestest team in the world ever was the Silver Swallows, and they can only dream of ever being able to fly like them......
  23. As said above, the really important thing is who is going to do the conversion set and will it be in 1/72? I want to thank the IRIAF because they have made it easier for us modellers to make accurate models of their planes by matching their new aircraft paint schemes to all available model paint ranges, i.e Humbrol, Model Master and Xtracolour, all of which carry Blue Angels blue and insignia yellow. That is what is really going on here you know!
