1/48 Revell PT-17 Stearman Full Build

Been waiting a little while to post this, but since the first full part is now out I feel comfortable posting this. So this is the first part in a series of videos I am doing on the Stearman that I built for this years contest. I had originally planned to release this monthly following the first full part, which I will post tomorrow, but because of the large time investment of editing all of the footage these will instead be coming out bi-monthly. So look forward to it.

    1/48 Revell PT-17 Stearman Review/Preview

Looking at one of the classic trainers of the early days of aviation that is still in use to day with Revell's 1/48th scale PT-17 Stearman kit.
  6. I was digging around in the back of the stash tonight looking for something else when I ran across this one. Poor Revell side opening box that's suffered nearly 20 years of stash crush, now is as good a time as any to rescue it. The price on the side says 15 bucks so it was a swap and sell purchase. I've given it a much better container, instructions have yellowed but surprisingly the decal sheet looks good still. I'll probably build it as a captured aircraft of some sort.

  8. The latest off my bench, the new Revell kit. There's some good things about this kit and some bad things, but overall I think it is slightly better than the Hasegawa model. Although, the major problem is the undercarriage, it is very weak and my tail wheel collapsed in a week. I wouldn't sit this model on a smooth surface or the gear might fail rather quickly. Markings were masked and painted on except the swastika, this aircraft had black roughly overpainted on the undersurface and the markings for night fighter operations with JG 300 Wilde Sau.

    SpPz2 Luchs

This is 1/72 revell 03208. The detail is exquisite, probably one of the best in 72nd scale revell's that i've build (and i build many) so far. i can not comment on the accuracy since i am unfamiliar with the vehicle tho. As you can see all the pioneer tools are separate parts, eventho it was a bit tricky the plastic is very good and forgiving which helps a lot with the cutting and cleaning - still being careful and having a healthy nipper is a must at these sizes (it's mere 10.7cm in length). The running gear is extremely detailed but i left it's assy after the paintjob and wx stages due to the cramped space there i fear i might not get in. btw after searching the net for ref shots decided the paintjob will be bundeswehr ral 6014 gelboliv, not 3 tone nato. i am meaning to make it into a vignette over this piece of wood.
  16. Hello friends Being the first jet fighter jet in the world to enter service, my duty had to be to have it in my collection. Although it was late his introduction in service could have recovered the air supremacy for the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. SpPz 2 Luchs

Luchs is done for, it's a lovely kit great detail for it's size.
  19. Hi, guys I'm about to start Tamiya's F-4E Early. My budget won't allow me to buy afternarket correct engine nozzles for it, so I'm looking for the Revell kit ones. I thought I had a pair of them in my spares' box, but could not find it. If someone has those parts and is willing to negotiate them, we can work something out, I have lots of parts and spare decals, in 1/48 and 1/32 . Cheers and TIA, Sergio :)
  20. Hi everyone! I just complete my 23rd model, the 1/48 Revell Panavia Tornado IDS in Luftwaffe JaboG 31 markings from Afghanistan deployment at Mazer-e-Sharif in 2009. Let me just start by saying this is not an easy kit to build, particularly the wings and intakes. This ranks up there with the Hasegawa Tomcat as the most challenging builds I have encountered to far. In addition to the tricky wings and intakes, the instructions are really not good at all. Even worse, however, is the nonsensical parts numbering and part placement among the sprues. The parts are just spread all over, with a sprue containing parts in the 20s maybe and other in the 40s 50s 60s 70s up to the 100s. The sprues are all lettered, but the instructions never call out a letter, only the number. So much time is wasted hunting down parts by the number and appearance only. And since the numbers have no organization on the sprues, you literally hunt by appearance then check to see if it is the right number. Maddening! But with all of that said, it really does build into a nice model. The detail is quite good, despite the fact they added an extra panel line at the nose before the nosecone or something. It's just not quite right there. I am very happy with how this turned out despite some flaws and alignment issues that have only become apparent after looking at the pics. I used the Wingman Models Luftwaffe Tornados Part 1 sheet for this, and I must say they are quite awesome. No issues at all and they performed flawless. There was a little bit of an issue with the stencil diagram with incorrect numbering, but nothing that was not able to be figured out with some thought and deduction. I recommend this to anyone looking to do a German Tornado! Kit: 1/48 Revell of Germany Tornado IDS Decals: Wingman Models WMD48006 Luftwaffe Tornados Part 1 Aftermarket: Pavla Ejection Seats, Hasegawa Weapons Sets C (AGM-88s), Master Model Pitot Paints: Gunze Mr. Surfacer Black 1500 (primer base), Tamiya Liquid White Primer (for marble coat), Gunze Aqueous FS 35237 Grayish Blue, FS 36375 Light Ghost Gray, FS 36320 Dark Ghost Gray, and FS 36173 Neutral Gray, Tamiya XF-24 Dark Gray, Rubber Black, Clear Red, Clear Green, and Smoke, and Alclad II Gloss Black Primer, Airframe Aluminum, Pale Burnt Metal, and Burnt Iron. Future Gloss coat for decals and Future+Tamiya XF-21 Flat Base 6:1 ratio for final matte coat. Mig Ammo Deep Gray panel wash. I am aware that some of the pics are kinda blurry. But I hope you enjoy!
