1/32 Trumpeter Super Hornet

Recommended Posts

Hi all :P

I really enjoyed this one, Trumpeter did a good job on this kit. It has some issues, like the weird sidewinders, crappy seat, bad decals for the weapons and some color problems on the other, but overall, nice stuff.

The build wasn't complicated, you only need to watch out with glueing the front fuselage to the rear. I was a bit scared when I saw the parts breakdown of the landing gear, but once completed they look great.

The exhausts arent that great, but with a little creative painting they look ok.

To make it somewhat better I added a resin seat from black box, added detail behind the cockpit, put pins in the horizontal stabilisors, added some wiring on the landing gear, added cockpit sidewalls, added AIM-9X's and maverick from academy, HARM's from tamiya and a GBU-12 from the box.

Som people may find the loadout a bit much, but I got it from a picture, I only exchanged 1 agm-65 for a GBU-12

The pics( I know they aren't great, but still no sun here...):

Excellent build. I looks like the big Hornet is going to have to go on my short list.

Great job on the painting and weathering. It looks very realistic and convincing.

Not to be critical....but adding the lights to the upper forward area and to the aileron hinge under the wing fold since it is exposed. It would really finish it off nicely.

Great build...

That looks fantastic. It makes me want to go out and buy one of those kits now. BTW, can you share your experience with us on dealing with the inside seams in the intake trunks? Thx.

Terry

No real problems there, the latex trick works fine on the intakes

Forgot about those, I'm going to do these right away.

Thanks all for the kind replies!

Looks great! First kit I've seen built up. Too bad those decals are so bad though...

~Gee, wouldn't it be awesome if SOMEBODY would have pity on us poor 1/32 guys and put out some real Good, ACCURATE decals for these? ...NOW? :woot.gif: (...Preferably in the adversary cammo).

...Very nice build, by the way, Leverancier! Patiently waiting for my LHS to get my 'special order' shipment in so I can start mine.

Brian,

I bought your 1/48 Pukin' Dogs of War set and LOVE it! Do you have plans to scale them up to 1/32? If so that may well be the tipping point for me to buy this kit.

Cheers,

Terry

I know, I know.... But I just couldnt wait, you decal guys are just too slow..... :woot.gif:

I hope you have something ready for the "F" release. VFA-11 CO with the boar head for example, wouldn't be that difficult to enlarge the 1/48's, right?
