  2. I have Mr. Color GX 112 Gloss Varnish. Would that work as well as Tamiya X-22? Gwen, I'm curious also to the VMS products you mention but unavailable here in The Netherlands as far as I know. Thanks, Marc.
  3. Bob, Gwen, Thanks so much, I have both the Mr. Color thinners so will definatly try it, the Levelling Thinner that is. I do know however they are both very effective paint removers. Should I therefore apply first in a thin coat and then let dry before applying a thicker coat? Also, reflectivity / shine is retained? Also, also, this would be good for AK Extreme Metal and Alclad? So much appreciate all this feedback. Marc.
  4. Hi Gwen, You're absolutely correct. My mistake for not paying more attention. Hey, I'm old...cut me some slack :-)) I have not tried the VMS products. Not available locally and X-22 thinned about 50/50 with MLT works great. It doesn't run, provides a very nice surface and is pretty much bullet proof. Thanks for your input. Bob
  5. Hi serendip, Dear Bob actually meant Mr Colour LEVELLING Thinner, not the regular one Incidentally; have you tried the VMS range of clear coats? They're awesome, and really forgiving even with the inveterate noob as I am. Hope that helps. Cheers, Gwen
  6. Nice start on our MIG killer. Those bang seats really look great. Stick with it. Mr. Happy
  7. Bob, Help me out - what's MLT? Thanks, Marc.
  8. They didn’t include the ARN-101 cockpit mods, either. Fortunately, Quinta has a decal set that has the mods to the WSO’s instrument panels on and right console. Ben
  9. Tamiya X-22 thinned with MLT. Hands down the best. Bob
  10. Thanks for the heads-up. The interesting thing is that the MENG F-4E has decals for two FY71 airframes, but MENG failed to provide the TISEO. The ARN-101 is there though. Jens
  11. The F-100A and C had a totally different ejection seat from the D and F. @BWDenver has some great pics of it here. The early jets were never modified to use the later seat. EDIT: More pics of the F-100C seat. Instrument panels on the earlier versions were slightly different but probably not noticeable from a scale modeling standpoint. The area behind the seat that’s up inside the canopy had some noticeable differences. The earlier versions didn’t have the pyramid-like structure of the D. I’ll see if I can find a good picture to illustrate. Ben
  12. Great job, a SEA camouflage that looks great. Those seats are very nice. What colors did you use in the SEA? Andrés.
  13. All spray works are done and ready to weathering.
  14. Post-shading and fading was done color by color.
  15. Finemolds has shallower lines and rivets than other brands, even in the instruction book, primer is not recommended, so I decided not to spray layers over the layers, instead I free-handed sprayed the 3-tones-camoflage like puzzles.
  16. Starting with the seats. Those come from Mini Craft Collection (M.C.C) 3D printed parts. USAF late version with the hard case for parachute. Hand painted with water-based acrylic color.
  17. So did the 2 Mikes set ever happen? I'm looking into the nacelles, and have found some pics on an old ebay listing for the parts manual. This seems to have some very useful illustrations. Any online source for this manual?
  18. Greetings, Painted the ADC Grey via AK acrylic. You need to thin with AK acrylic thinner as it will not spray from the bottle. The paint has very poor adhesion and I may have to clear coat the nose before I mask for the anti-glare panel. It is very hard to clean as I place the A/B in the ultrasonic cleaner with IPA for 30 minutes after airbrushing. I then run IPA through the A/B with the tip blocked to clean inside with paint cup. After 20 passes debris will come out into the paint cup so you need to know this paint is very hard to clean unless you use the AK thinner? IPA is not st
  19. Wow, I was far off! I can blame my confusion on some instructions I'd got which wanted green for a BMF bird. Thanks for clearing that up!
  20. Dark Gull Gray and Black. 53-1717, pictured below, was one of the first Charlie models built.

  22. Tried looking this up and gave up; all I could find referred to the D and F versions, didn't know if that would make any difference.... Would I be correct in thinking an F-100C's cockpit would have been green when first built, but probably redone in gray when in ANG service by the early 1970's?
