  1. I know it inspired me. Steve B
  2. I salute you Bill. I'm tempted to try their F-5.....I hear that's a very "special" experience to build......which is something I would enjoy. I just finished a 10 day build of the Willaims Bros Amelia Earhart plane in an in-flight diomama.....with a baremetal finish. The BMF required plenty of effort on this kit. It was a model for my daughter's social studies report and she did plenty of the rough sanding. Steve B
  3. Ahh yes...there it is......and coming up in about 1 week to the ARC homepage. I don't usually have a chance to open the submissions e-mails until I'm ready to process them for the homepage. Nice F-86D Bob. Steve B
  4. Wow...that is quite the project. Steve B
  5. Very nicely done Bob. Send it in to me and I'll get it up on the ARC homepage Submissions to ARC Air It has also been a while since I last finished a model and I'm also working on a Alclad II model with my 10 year old for her school project on Amelia Earhart. The only model of chopice was the Williams Bros kit which isn't the best fitting kit......and doing it in a bare metal finish is a trick........add a 1 week deadline for the build and you have a very focused operation. But it gets done today. Once again....I LOVE the job you did on your Sabre Dog. Steve B ARC Webmaster
  6. This reminds me of the time I tried to build a few Dragon Me 262's......I never got past the sanding filling stage....I still wake up in a cold sweat....screaming into the night... Steve B
  7. I've also got a walkaround of my photos here on ARC Air of the Harbour Air Beaver Float plane. http://www.arcair.com/AWA1/101-200/walk135...ver/walk135.htm
  8. You're my hero.....but that's only because you have one of those large resin BSG Raptor kits and you're actually going to build it. :) Of couse I'm on a waiting list for that kit......so I will one day rise to your level. Steve B
  9. There is no doubt the vectored exhausts of the Russian aircraft gave them a advantage in close in fighting against western aircraft without vectored exhausts. But the American designers and pilots focused on staying BVR which greatly reduced the combat effectiveness of the vectored exhausts. The F-22 has vectored exhausts which shows that vectored exhausts do give some advantage in making a plane much more maneuverable. But the F-22 has moved way beyond vectored exhausts and employs advanced systems that permit it to remove targets BVR. Add stealth to the advanced BVR weapons systems and i

    Beaver Rigging?

IIRC I took the pics with detail in mind but also in a way that each photo overlaps and with careful study of the photo you can figure out a fair bit of info. It's not perfect.....but pretty close to most of the info you'll need. Most of the rigging is the same on both sides. I could only take pics from the dock side......so most of the images are of only from one side.

    Beaver Rigging?

You saw my walkaround in the walkaround section? http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1...ver/walk135.htm I shot quite a few specific photos of the rudder cables and the rigging for the floats. Have a close look at the photos in the bottom half of the walkaround....there's some pretty anal rigging photos there. Steve B
  14. Glad you liked it Alby.....their show sure would be a treat to take in......especially in the deep of winter. Steve B
  15. The rechargeable unit is much easier to control and weighs less. It is ideal for plastic and is cheaper......if you're into scratchbuilding etc....then this should be part of your tool box. The bigger plug-in unit is also VERY good....heavier and it will need a speed controler. I found the added weight and fussing with the cord to be a hindrance, but I do know 2 modellers that swear by these units.......but both of these guys have never tried the rechargable unit. They both use speed reduction switches. I've used both untis and they both have their good and bad points. In the end I pref
  16. No doubt about it....the F-22 is one very cool jet.
  17. If he starts airbrushing.....and has even a fraction of my lack of skill and talent....he should find my Tools n Tips Paint Stripping article very helpful. :) Steve B ARC Webmaster
  18. Hi and welcome to ARC. 1/48 scale is a good scale to start with....very middle of the road. First figure out what aircraft and markings grab your intertest. No sense building something that doesn't take your mind off to a pleasant place to daydream about that aircraft while you build. Once you decide on the aircraft....ask on the forums for the best kit of that aircraft. Pay extra money and get a kit that fits well and requires less work and frustration. Newer Tamiya kits fit together very well. For glue I would strongly advise you try Tamiya Liquid glue .....it comes ina square bott
  19. Here's an article that deals with this topic in general. http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/tnt1...ding/tnt029.htm
  20. My wife and I looked at the family finances and family debt load and I won't be attending. I have no doubt it will be a first class show....there's some top notch modellers on the West Coast. Steve B
  21. I sort of figured you'd be a key member of this new forum. I really wanted to go Anthony.....but my wife and I looked at the family finances and the family debt load and it doesn't look like I'll be making it. :( We need to do the responsible parental thing. I will of course support the event anyway I can......including ARC financial support for the Twobobs Party. Steve B
  22. Welcome everyone!!! I hope ARC'ers get plenty of use out of this Forum relating to all events at the 2007 IPMS/USA National Convention. It is going to be one heck of a show!!! You can find the webiste devoted to this event at this URL.... http://www.ipmsusa2007.org/ Special thanks to the 2007 Nats staff for putting on this event: Nat Richards, James Woody, Mike Bradley, Steve Munroe, Pete Hiatt, Tony Avalos, Brian Casteel, Terry Huber, Lindy Woody, Reed West. 23. Hi Robert, Shoot me a quick e-mail at submissions@arcair.com and I will do a search form your e-mail and get it on ARC. I did a search for an e-mail about 2 months ago......but without knowing the "from" name on the e-mail (found nothing from "Robert") and not knowing the "subject line".....it's a tricky search....a needle in the hay stack if you will.. A heads up.....my submissions inbox has 441 e-mails.....I've separated out some review articles when I see them and put them into a "review" folder....that has 70 e-mails ....my main inbox has 1400 e-mails.......so opening each e-mail t
