  1. Very nice build, it really looks the part. The kit tanks are poor, but Freightdog Models do some very nice resin replacements. Check them out and the other A-4 stuff on this page. peebeep
  2. I use a large, soft brush for wicking up excess. If you're using Future/Klear neat, it can set quite quickly in a warm room, although this can be advantageous when placing lots of small stencils. Not so good for large decals, stripes etc. where you need to tease things into place. peebeep
  3. It is and that was my first thought. Regardless, there are grieving families and people have been maimed, prayers for all those who have been affected by this. peebeep
  4. It matters because partial criticism is not objective criticism. To insinuate that the rest of the kit might somehow be flawed on the basis of two roundels on the decal sheet is, frankly, asinine, unless you approve of trolling. peebeep
  5. Freightdog set Decals Not sure if the decals fit your requirements, but there is an interesting option on the sheet. peebeep
  6. Very nice work, I'd like to have an Argentinian Skyhawk in my collections, especially with the bold yellow patches. If you can get them I'd recommend the Freightdog drop tanks, they have a better shape than the kit items. Freightdog also do optional parts for the A-4B/P,m including the corrected tanks. peebeep
  7. Very sorry to hear that, tragic for his family and friends. RIP. peebeep
  8. I'd go for a Roland or Yamaha digital piano, but a lot depends on how much you want to spend. Yamaha Clavinovas have probably the best and truest action compared to a really good acoustic piano and any keyboard player will tell you that weighted keys is preferable. A digital instrument is much more convenient, it never goes out of tune and you can use 'phones if you don't want to intrude on the rest of the household. If you want to mess around with different sounds you might consider a stage piano with XG sounds, this will have patches for hundreds of different sounds including pianos, organs,
  9. The WNW business model is a lot different to Eduard's, I don't think you should try and draw any parallels. I can't see WNW satisfying anything other than a niche market and they way they operate is geared up for that, whereas Eduard have moved way beyond their Ltd origins. In fact they offer some really classy kits that are not eye wateringly expensive. peebeep
  10. I'd bet it would take several WWI subjects to get anywhere near the same turnover as a Spitfire. That doesn't make me feel particularly happy, but it's a fact of modelling life. Every manufacturer has to have a number of banker kits before they can offer more esoteric subject matter. peebeep
  11. The two stage nacelle has a chin intake as well as the underside carb intake: peebeep
  12. The two stage nacelles are longer - can't think how much by, off the top of my head. The extra length is down to the additional blower and meant that a six port exhaust layout could be used, rather than the rear two on each side being siamesed as on the single stage set up. Paragon and Pavla did resin two stage nacelles, but neither of these are current, so you would have to do a bit of shopping around to see if you could get any. peebeep
  13. They did? You have one of the kits and can demonstrate this beyond doubt? peebeep
  14. I had a spec for High Speed Silver, but basically it is nitrocellulose dope with aluminium powder mixed in. It's the same mixture that was used pre-war described as 'Aluminium'. In use it degrades rapidly and can appear to be a chalky grey colour. I think this is probably due to oxidation of the particulate on the surface once the dope element wears off. peebeep
  15. Tamiya do an NF XIII/XVII, although the Airfix scrubs up well with a little bit of effort, despite its age. Either way you will need some two stage nacelles. There are some resin sets around, notably from Paragon and Pavla, but they may take some tracking down. peebeep
  16. Regardless of whether or not the mg's were retained, the cannon was fitted in the aircraft bomb bay, which was located close to the the aircraft c of g. Seeing as the 410 could carry a 1000kg bomb load I doubt there was any remarkable difference to the weight distribution with the cannon fitted, probably about the same as carrying a bomb load. peebeep
  17. Sometimes things do turn up unsolicited. peebeep
  18. Revell do have Facebook pages, Revell.de and Revell.US have their own pages. So do Tamiya and Hasegawa. Do searches in the Facebook search bar. peebeep
  19. I started up RevellAtions the year before last when a few guys were asking why was there no Revell forum. I have other commitments so can't spend a huge amount of time on running it and the member base is relatively small, but it is there and if you are into Revell kits we will do out best to provide whatever it is you're looking for. There is no formal affiliation with Revell, but I was contacted by a representative from Revell gmbh who wondered if I would be interested in it becoming their official English language forum. After giving it due consideration I declined this offer as I thought m
  20. I don't know about the latest batches of Citizen paints, because they changed supplier, but Mithril Silver used to spray beautifully thinned with a tiny drop of window cleaner. peebeep
  21. I don't believe Academy have ever entered into cooperative deals with other manufacturers, so let's put it like this; some of their products bear an uncanny resemblance to other manufacturer's products. I'm sure it is probably a coincidence. ;) Newer Academy kits are without doubt tooled up from their own original research. peebeep
  22. Why are you feeling ripped off? Is there a scam? A deception? Where you mis-sold something? If not, how can it be a rip off? The price is the price and you, the consumer, get to decide whether or not to buy. If enough people vote with their wallet then the manufacturer might have to reconsider their policy, otherwise que sera sera. peebeep
  23. That would be a seriously large model! It's pretty huge at 1/48. peebeep
  24. It should be like water in the bottle, even after a good shake and with the pigment in solution. If it's not and needs thinning, then there's probably something wrong with it. You should be able to pour it straight out of the bottle into an airbrush cup and spray. I spray at the lowest possible pressure to prevent it drying before reaching the painted surface to stop it going on grainy. If it is a little rough it's easily smoothed out with a polish up with a piece of denim or heavy cloth. peebeep
