  1. That is a Les Applebee creation based on German documents to build super heavy tanks.
  2. The stand where the upcoming releases could be seen was the JB Wholesalers stand.
  3. Now they are very good! Love the gunship :)
  4. Citadel paints were never designed at any stage to replicate military shades. They are primarily designed for the war gaming /miniatures market, not scale models. I do agree with the pot lid issue, The multi-sided screw tops were a disaster. I have pots from the 90's that are still perfectly useable. They used a push down hinged lid that Citadel have gone back to. Cost wise? Not noticed too much or really worried overly. Paints here are range from $4 for Revell enamels up to $6.50 for Vallejo and Citadel. Acrylics needed a primer coat between it and bare plastic. Acrylics are inherently frag
  5. Well that is your opinion, do you hate acrylics in general, preferring enamels? I have been using them to paint for years, both on miniatures and model kits. No issues with them at all. But then I like acrylics personally and have not pushed enamels through my airbrush in over ten years.
  6. Same here. Chainmail (or the new name equivalent) provides a fantastic and durable natural metal finish. Our local distributor has a huge stock of Pollyscale and Floquil paints. I know this because I helped pack them up when the company moved addresses last week.
  7. After a bit of a break and a couple of aircraft kits for a change of pace, I recently completed two new armour kits. Here is one of them... Trumpeter's Merkava III is a great little kit featuring the new Trumpeter method of track material and assembly. This was first used way back on the IS-3 kits and seems to have become the new Trumpeter standard, rather than those horrid vinyl tracks. The only detail lacking on this little Merkava are the characteristic ball and chain array underneath the turret rear basket. Not sure why Trumpeter omitted this, as the earlier Revell kit includes them. A
  8. I received one of these not so long ago via eBay, unboxed for AU$12 (free postage). The seller supplies PDF instructions. It is a nice kit. DS style tracks, PE and lots of nicely moulded parts. Well worth an investment. Rather than me take pics etc, here is a build review :)
  9. Terry, Lori and my prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. Great news on the weight loss as well! I have recently lost close to 20kg on the Dukan diet and it feels great to be slim again. I await my visit to the Urologist in a couple of weeks to see if high PSA readings I had are of concern.
  10. How can a fixed undercarriage aircraft be even remotely considered stealthy? Next up, a photoshopped inflight image. I wonder if they use the same stock aerial imagery?
  11. Tomorrow in Australia it is the 25th April. During the dawn of this day, 98 years ago in 1915, a force of Australian and New Zealand troops landed at Gallipoli Cove in the Dardanelles under heavy fire by the Turkish defenders. On this day and the months that followed, the ANZAC legend was born. They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the
  12. Liam I just saw your post. Steve is the only one that can change an email address. The super mods cannot, from what I can see. Steve is working almost around the clock to earn enough money to fund serious and complicated surgery for a friends young daughter. He may well has shot off a request email from the software geeks regarding the issue. If that is the case he is just as caught in the delays as you are.
  13. Comedian Patton Oswalt said on his Facebook page this morning.... "Boston. F***ing horrible. I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, 'Well, I've had it with humanity.' But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths. But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to
  14. Malwarebytes is an excellent app, but not one I would run resident personally. But please remove Norton and put on a lighter but still just as effective alternative like Avast! You will find that once that is done, your PC may well run faster. Norton is about the biggest problem most PC's purchased from shops has. McAfee is as bad.
  15. A quick fix would be to remove Norton and replace it with a far lighter and non resource hogging AV, such as Avast! or even Windows Defender. They are both great and will not take your PC over at all. Norton is notorious for slowing down PC's.
  16. This has been the best resource I have found thus far. http://ambushalleygames.com/incoming/blogs/104-painting-us-army-ucp-acu-the-easy-way
  17. I use Vallejo paints a great deal, more than I use other acrylics. I brush paint my 1/72 armour builds and thin Vallejo with distilled water. When airbrushing, I will avoid using Vallejo Model colour. If I have to use Model Color because another acrylic option is not available, then I thin with Windex and add a couple of drops of Vallejo slow dry. This will allow the thinned paint to flow and not dry on the airbrush tip and cleaning is not an easy or quick task. Believe me, you do not want that at all! If you forget to add the slow dry (retarder) then you will certainly end up with a blocke
  18. Matt My build can be seen here; I have the MkI/IIa, another Mk.22 and am intending to buy the other versions Airfix released. BTW, checkout the Mustang P-51D and the Vampire T.11. Beautiful kits!
  19. Very nice! The Airfix re-tooled 1/72 Spitfire series are very nice kits. I recently completed a Spitfire F Mk.22 and it was one of the nicest builds I have done in a very long time.
  20. Carefully brush over some Pledge (future) or Pascoe's Long Life onto the clear parts. That might restore the transparencies a bit.
  21. I saw your Venator in Melbourne last year, so I know this will be an awesome project.
  22. Looks a fine build from here. Nice work. Love middle eastern theatre camo :)
  23. Well the Gnat looks superb and is a perfect shelf partner to that equally well done T.11. Lovely work!
