  1. Microscale did a 1/72 decal sheet that had Hawk One, Lynx One, and 067 (414 Squadrons Black EW Voodoo) on one sheet. Its just missing Lark One. I just looked on EBay by searching "1/72 CF-101 Voodoo Decals" and a few popped up for under $14 USD. I've used the sheet myself and the decals were just fine. Hope this helps. Happy Modeling!
  2. Low blow, class less, and not cool. Wow...
  3. Depends on the deck and PE you're thinking about using. I know there are slim pickings for that kit aftermarket wise, if anything at all. The Lionfish was a Balao Class sub which, aside from the fairwater, was very similar to the Gato Class subs. They used essentially the same hull but I think the deck was slightly different with less wood being used on the Balao's compared to the earlier Gato's. Noticeable to anyone who knows their Balao and Gato subs but probably not to most people. So if you can find any aftermarket for Gato Class subs in 1/200 then they would be compatible. In a pinch I s
  4. Thank you Mr. Stratton... Rest easy in peace. .
  5. I was disappointed when I started reading the reviews of the Revell SH. My disappointment increased when I was able to inspect one on display at my LHS and saw lots of flash and read on the instructions where the builder had to perform some serious surgery just to get the kit together. I've enjoyed building and buying many of Revell's previous 1/32 kits and thought their SH would be a good option over Trumpeters kit. Heck the price was right at around $80. But I took a hard pass after reading about it and seeing it with my own eyes. I went with the Trumpeter kit and its worth the extra dollar
  6. Congrats! I've got two myself. Best job I've ever had! Enjoy!
  7. Yes I should have added that I was going to use the link you posted. Good info Darren and I'll definitely be using it on my next attempt at the Monogram F-14A. I hope it won't end up in the bone yard like the other failed attempts. Happy modeling all!
  8. Great thanks! Headed there right now.
  9. That makes you a pro armchair builder of course.
  10. Darren have you ever done a step-by-step build thread on the Monogram/Revell Tomcat here? I have tried (and failed) with that kit many times and I'd be interested in seeing how you do it. The cheap cost of that kit is a big seller for me but man its one of the most frustrating Monogram/Revell builds! Happy modeling!
  11. I'm quite interested. I'll wait and see what the kit looks like and what the cost is before judging. A new 1/48 Blackbird even slightly better then the Italeri kit would be welcome by me. And yes, lets hope whomever was responsible for Revell's 1/32 Super Hornet had nothing to do with this kit! Happy modeling!

    Lego ISS

My son and I have the Saturn V and LM (with the light kit). Great sets! I see me...errrr him...getting the ISS set to add to the collection. Thanks for the heads up ! Cheers!
  13. You should have used an animated gif...it usually works like a charm...

  15. I like the Knights helmet on 314's tails (although a little bigger would be better). I wonder if we will eventually have CAG and other colorful tails on USN/USMC F-35's ? A modeling question (sorry if its been asked already), but what are the best kits for the F-35 (any version) in both 1/72 and 1/48? I'm in the market. Thanks gents! Happy modeling all!
  16. Welcome to ARC Sean! Always good to have new people around. Oh... and the new guy buys the first round of pints . Happy modeling! Don
  17. There are two types of 1/72 Hasegawa F-14 kits. The first is their original release dating from the late 1970's. I actually like it and have built my fair share. If you plan on doing a number of F-14A's its cheap ($10-$20 USD shipped depending on where you get them) and quick and easy to build. But it has raised panel lines (which don't bother me), simple decals for instrument panels (hardly noticed with closed canopy), and the wings do not have the option to be built with flaps and leading edges dropped nor air break open etc(again, fine with me as I prefer them fully swept back for less cabi
  18. Sweet! Nicely done ! Thanks for sharing. Happy Modeling!
  19. It looks like a couple minutes of work with a Flexi-File or suitable sanding stick would take care of that nose issue. I doubt there would even be any need to rescribe anything if the builder is careful. Pretty straight forward modeling in my opinion. But to be completely honest, I'm really not seeing anything in any of the pictures of the nose to warrant much if any hand wringing. Each to their own I guess. Happy modeling all!
  20. I remember the old ESCI 1/48 F-8E that had the USS Oriskany spelled wrong on the decal sheet. I bet there's more then a few F-8's sitting in cabinets with the ships name spelled wrong and the owner is none the wiser . Happy modeling all!
  21. GW8345 thanks for posting about what the various crewmen were doing in the picture posted by Andrea Bolla above. Many of us who have never served on a carrier have no idea what this colored shirt is doing or what their responsibilities are. In videos it looks like organized chaos on deck LOL! Its nice to learn from someone who was there. Happy modeling all!
  22. Happy New Year fellow ARC'ers! Health and happiness throughout 2020 to all.
  23. Brilliant idea! I like your thinking. We can celebrate 300+ pages of this thread and the ringing in of a new year all in one evening. Animated .GIF's for everyone!
  24. What was the wooden part of the F-14? Seriously I'd like know!
