Robert Garelli started following SP-2H Neptune, Tariff fee, Rye Field Models M1A1 FEP and 7 others
-
I completely stopped ordering from overseas. I got everything I needed before the Tariffs went into effect. If vendors from the U.S. don't have it in stock, I don't need it.

Nice work, weathering came out very well.

From what I can see in reference pics, it looked like it was a combination of both. Some of the later models had both the short and long exhaust pipes on them so it's hard to tell. If working off a reference pictures of a particular unit or airframe, then go with the exhaust you see, otherwise, I would go with personal preference.

Kits being sold piece meal on Ebay.
Robert Garelli replied to Steven H. McLain's topic in General Discussion
I have bought kits from friends and swap meets on the cheap with missing parts and have been able to find the parts on EBAY and still come out ahead in the end. So very happy they are out there selling just the parts, best idea ever. -
LOL...awesome!!

New from ICM: 1/48 MH-6J Little Bird
Robert Garelli replied to Loach Driver's topic in Helicopter Modeling
About freaking time someone came out with the little bird in 1/48 scale! Now, if ICM would just release the sky crane in 1/48 scale the world would be at peace! ( the little world in my head at least 🙂 ) -
New video: weathering drop tanks/bombs using acrylics...
Robert Garelli replied to FalconFan24's topic in Tools 'n' Tips
Nice techniques, I never think about denting the drop tanks on my WWII build, will have to try on the next one. -
Replacement plastic parts from Tamiya
Robert Garelli replied to William B. Phelps III's topic in General Discussion
Contact TAMIYA USA. You will need the kit number, the tree and part number you are missing. They have never charged me for any parts I have requested. They provide great service. Tamiya USA -

The concept was good, you could change the plastic nozzle on them, but as you said, everything was plastic and didn't feel right in my hand and nozzle issues were constant as back then I used enamels which were a pain compared to today's acrylics and lacquers, which is I prefer to shoot now.

First stop in the morning and last stop before going to bed, so yes still here.

Every time I buy a model, I impulsively buy aftermarket stuff for it, whether it needs it or not. And then get bogged down with the model and half of them get shelved due to some complexity I wasn't ready for or just get burned out or bored with it after a while. Something I have been doing to try to combat OCD is to build a simple inexpensive kit straight out of the box. This tends to cure me for a while and go back to the more complex builds. I am currently doing a legacy build of the first armor kit i built when I was 13 years old in the early 80's and having as much fun with i

I been thinking about the same thing and wondering if the expense is worth it. I don't see making a business out of it, but since I like all types of models not just aircraft, it would be nice to print up details parts when needed. The idea of trying to create a part is an aspect I don't believe I would be good at.
