  1. 1/48 MiG-23/27 would be pretty awesome.
  2. Thanks AWan! I'm in the middle of scribing all the upper hull right now. I'll probably get as intricate with it as I can. Symmetry, on the other hand, might be a problem, though. It's already made of sheet styrene, so I don't know about skinning it again. I'm running out of sheet. I'm still not sure how I'll paint it. I'm thinking basic Star Destroyer white/gray, maybe with the Empire logo on one side of the hull.
  3. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it! I've got another quick update with a few pics. I've been doing some major greeblie-fying lately. So far I've used parts from a 1/48 Monogram F-106, 1/48 Monogram F-18, 1/72 Revell-Monogram SR-71, 1/72 Academy F-18, 1/350 Tamiya USS New Jersey, and tons of sheet styrene. I've got some thoughts on a backstory that I'll be posting soon. The more I work on this, the more the whole concept I've got for it changes. On to the pics! The superstructure and the two blue/white parts are just taped on, not glued yet. I've still got to finish the upper hu
  4. Wouldn't you need one of those rocks that get skidded across the ice? What is that, curling?
  5. Looks like I've got to get me one of these. I always did like the Sufa.
  6. We've gone from Pumpkin chunkin', to AWan flingin' :D Sick project, AWan!
  7. Looks better than it did. At least, to my eye anyway.
  8. No, you're right. I saw it just the other night and the B-1R had a V-tail.
  9. The pictures I've seen show that the F-16I uses a GE engine, where the F-15I uses two Pratt & Whitney engines. I've never heard anything about the P&W engines having carbon fiber turkey feathers, so I'm going to say 'probably not' to your question. I'm no expert on either aircraft, so I could very possibly be wrong. But in any case, the GE engines and P&W engines definitely don't use the same turkey feathers. They might be similar materials, but not interchangeable between engines.
  10. Let's hope the box art is better than what's shown there.
  11. Countdown to sv51 nerdgasm: 3... 2... 1...
  12. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it. I haven't been working on the Virulence as much as I'd like, but I do have some progress. I've decided to scrap the ventral hangar bay. I wasn't happy with how it turned out, and after working on the ship concept a bit, I decided to drop the requirement for a hangar bay. The Virulence-class will instead be designed entirely for orbital bombardment and taking out enemy capital ships. It's got an ion cannon mounted in the bow for punching through shields and destroying ships, and a heavily armored reactor where an Imperial-class Star Destroyer would have a
  13. Now THAT's the right way to build a Tomcat: With Flanker parts! How is this going to be armed and painted?
  14. :) I've thought of doing this myself from time to time.
  15. Don't forget to have the Geico Gecko standing on the Eagle's wing.
  16. Holy complicated splinter scheme, Batman!
  17. We get it, you hate Revell and you're an Academy weapons-decal fanboy. If you don't like the kit, don't buy it. There, problem solved and you never have to deal with it again.
  18. And this, children, is how you get a "stash" and "spare parts".
  19. I don't think this is any more sensitive than a model from Vietnam or World War II. I say go for it, it sounds like you've got some really interesting ideas here.
  20. There's three months left. Have at it.
  21. I'd add extremely thin sheet styrene cut to shape and then decals for the slime lights. I'd just steal the decals from an old Hornet sheet or something.
  22. I can see how supersonic capability is nice, but in that case why not go with the Super Hornet? It's more modern and a lot newer than the Tomcat is, and it's more standard with the rest of the current Navy fleet. As for radar, you could mount a radar system like the Raptor or JSF has, which are supposed to be way more powerful than what the Tomcat had, into the Prowler. A miniature version of the Hawkeye's radar system wouldn't be THAT far fetched either. I figure the Prowler would hang back a hundred miles or so behind the UCAVs, directing them like an AWACS aircraft does. That keeps the Pro
  23. I'd think that the EA-6B Prowler would be a better controller aircraft for the UCAVs than the Tomcat. Have the Prowler hold two officers in the rear seats, one for each UCAV. Each operator can take control of their UCAV in case of an emergency like a computer problem or battle damage. The Prowler wouldn't have the electronic warfare capability anymore, or it would be greatly reduced, but it could have some weapons capability, even working off the UCAVs' radars like AWACS aircraft. Tomcat's sexier, but I think the Prowler would work better. It could even be modified to carry AIM-120s, similar t
  24. I have to say I preferred the rounded grays scheme over the splinter, but it's still a sick paint job.
