1/48 Mirage 2000D - Operation Serval

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

Here is my latest finished build.

It depicts the ground attack version of the Mirage 2000 as seen in operations above Mali in 2013.

I used the Ialeri/Kinetic boxing with Wolfpack cockpit and Renaissance exhaust nozzle.

The wing tanks are replaced with my resin casting.

Decals are from Italeri and Carpena/berna.

Paints are Humbrol hand sprayed with my 0,15mm Infinity.

Clear coats are Microscale Gloss, Satin and matt.

Washes with oil "sepia".

Dust is done with pigments.

Hope you like it.

Cheers

Romain

Magnifique!!

Tres bien! Why casting the tanks by yourself? I heard that the shape of the Kinetic and Heller tanks are not correct, right?

Danke tobik!

Kinetic tanks are wrong shaped at he head.

It kills the look of the Mirage.

Heller are well shaped, but you have to add weld lines.

That's what I did and then, casted them.

Cheers,

Romain

Adding welding lines could be done with streched sprue and liquid cement I guess?

Aren't the resin gas bags not heavy? (And so a metal landing gear would be to prefer?)

Yes that is how i proceed to add weld lines.

Resin tanks are heavy. You are right.

But plastic LG seem to do the job.

Cheers!

What an absolutely fantastic build. The cockpit looks very busy, and nicely weathered. Your camo paint scheme, decaling, and weathering as just superb. The overall effect has that "used but not abused" look to it.

I've always liked the Mirage family, especially the two-seaters, and yours is no exception! Well done Rom!

(Now, wouldn't a 4000 two seater be wonderful? Shame the French never proceeded with that aircraft. F-15 class and beautiful!)

The Anigrand 1/72 Mirage 4000 is planned for the end of the year. :D
