Kursad- I like that you have some early / 2-seat A-7 SLUF collections but would you consider doing a sheet of Air Wing 11 participants in Operation Praying Mantis from 1988?  I would love to build out my Hasegawa 1/48 A-7E HARM missile-modified bird from VA-22 in low-viz markings and there just aren't any other low-viz offerings out there since Furball quit printing.  I don't think you'd have any left over if you sent a batch out for printing.  Just an idea... 🙂

Oooh!  I like the red/white/blue tailed one!  Incredible to think that F-16s have been around for 50 years and still in production!  And the F-15 also!~  Wasn't the original USAF purchase ratio supposed to be 2 Falcons for every Eagle?

Anyone wanting a copy of 75-0053 without 'stupid' watermarks, SMH, here's a shot taken at the same venue. That's sure an odd tail numbering method for an F-15.

Flight test F-4E's

The attached shot is from Edwards, 3 1980.  The birds, as I understand it, were used for the Cruise missile chase AC.  I shot this on approach to the ramp, flying with my knees in an OH-58A.  I've always found it interesting the impact on stencil color to the overall look.  The NF-4E in the background looks to have stencils in black.

1966 USAF Serial Numbers (joebaugher.com)

66-0294 F-4E-31-MC (MSN 2389) flew with Thunderbirds. 1975: USAF 20th TFTS (35th TFW).  1976-77: USAF 35th TFW.  Converted to NF-4E. 1978-91: AFFTC.  6512th Test Squadron/6510th Test Wing, Edwards AFB, CA.  To AMARC as FP747 Sep 4, 1991. To Santa Rita, AZ for display Apr 19, 1995.

66-0319 F-4E-32-MC (MSN 2557) was Thunderbird aircraft 1970-72.  1975: USAF 4th TFW. 1978-89: AFFTC 6512th Test Squadron/6510th Test Wing, Edwards AFB, CA..   To AMARC as FP748 Sep 4, 1991. Departed Jun 8, 1994 to Athens, TN for display.  Currently on pedestal in front of VFW post 5146, Athens, Tennessee as #2.

Those Edwards test Phantoms are already on a Caracal sheet.

But the 319 is in black, not white....

Because it was repainted later, and that is the time period depicted on the sheet. I think the Edwards test Phantoms are well covered, but I will include Edwards jets of other types in future sheets as appropriate.

Nice work! Is that the Monogram F-4C/D kit?  A very nice addition to the display cabinet. K/r, Dutch

The three contenders for the US Army Close Air Support contract in early 1962.  Fiat G-91, Douglas A-4C (Modified with dual main u/c.) and the Northrop N-156F (F-5A).  Needless to say, the Key West agreement between the services put a kabosh on the whole project.

According to the A-4 Skyhawk Association: "In 1961, two A4D-2 Skyhawks (BuNos 148490 and 148483) were borrowed by the U.S. Army and modified by Douglas for evaluation in competition with the Northrop N-156 (predecessor of the F-5) and an Italian Fiat G-91, for operations from unimproved airfields near front lines.  Modifications of the Army Skyhawk included large dual wheels on beefed-up main landing gear mounts; a heavier wing to house the larger landing gear; and installation of an A-3 Skywarrior drag chute.  Flown by Douglas test pilot Dru Wood, the modified "Army" Skyhawk won the competition, but the project was canceled when Army funds were diverted to helicopter procurement."

And USAF went absolutely ballistic...  The pilots associated with the G-91 referred to it as a "GO-91".  they also looked at the kestrel, one is in the museum at Ft Rucker.  the Army was also flying two F-10's and an AD-3 circa 1981.  I have shots of the F-10's, one red & white, the other blue.  USAF forced the issue with the Armed OV-1's, demanding the USA disarm them.  And suppressed the fact that an OV-1 pilot got a MiG kill.
