  1. Aqua Gloss is good, but I have found it not to be as durable as x-22. Just my experience, though. Others may have better results with it.
  2. I believe you are correct in using too heavy coats. In this situation, I would spray two or three light mist coats, then spray one final wet coat, being careful not to go too heavy as to cause paint runs.
  3. Apparently, I didn't know, either. I have always used the yellow top. Interesting. I use the yellow top laquer thinners because it levels the paint well and dries faster. Gives a really nice finish. I just recently painted a car body with their gloss black and it was like looking into a mirror!
  4. I've had good experience with my No Name brand compressor. 3 gallon tank and comes with built in moisture regulator and pressure guage. Cost around $130-150 and is an invaluable tool to have. I purchased mine from spraygunner.com.
  5. I second this. I use Tamiya x-22 thinned with X-20A laquer thinner. Still gets a decent shine without dulling the NMF too much.
  6. DOT 3 brake fluid. Will strip just about anything off and safe for plastic.
  7. That's quite an ambitious project! Your hard work on the intake payed off really well!
  8. I use a few different airbrushes. But my favorite is the Proccon ps274. I also use the ps770 for very fine work or complicated camouflages. The ps274 is very easy to use and is very forgiving. It is also very easy to clean. Flush the color cup a couple of times with thinners and clean the needle and you are good to go. Price wise, the ps274 can be found for $100 or less and the ps770 can usually be found for anywhere between $220 and $300. The ps770 is more expensive, but it is a detail airbrush and a lot cheaper than the Iwata Custom Micron and does basically the same job. My general purpose
  9. One thing I have found that helps me out a lot when rescribing is to use a good made for use scriber. I like using the mrp scribers. They come in different sizes. They have a needle scriber, a square tip scriber, and a v shaped one. I have heard really good things about the Tamiya scribers, but they are a bit too expensive for me.
  10. You did a fantastic job of getting it to the finish line!
  11. Looking foward to getting a sheet! You always do awesome subjects! I still have a ways to go before I'm at the decal stage as I just started on it two days ago, so no worries.
  12. Has this sheet been released? I'm working on the Hasegawa C and currently in need of some decals. Surprisingly, for me at least, F-104C aftermarket decals are hard to come by.
  13. Tamiya now that they are releasing an A in 1/48. Just announced today.
  14. I suspect that may be a preorder price. Expected release date in October, so I kinda wonder if Meng started on this project at about the same time as ZM?
  15. Just read on facebook via their page and Boneyard Safari that Special Kay, the only flight worthy B-26K, has suffered a collapsed gear upon landing. Major damage to the left engine nacelle and main gear. No other info at this time.
  16. I had this exact same thing happen to me with the same paints. I ended up stripping off the paint from the affected areas, then sanding with 4000 grit sanding sponge to feather back the edges. Reapplied gloss black base in several coats to build it back up past the ridges. Polishing out the black base coat to get it super smooth, then reapplying the NMF. This time, I applied Tamiya x-22 in light coats to seal in the NMF paint. I didn't have a problem with tape residue after that. Of course, I would test it out first on a test mule or something like that.
  17. I know this isn't really appropriate for a model forum. But my cat, my child, really, was killed this morning. To say it's been a very rough day so far is a bit of an understatement. Fare well my friend. I'll see you again someday.
  18. https://www.amazon.com/BB-01-Airplane-Building-Berth-Graving/dp/B086QRJ297/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=24R68B4TXY8JA&keywords=model+aircraft+building+stand&qid=1653894629&sprefix=model+aircraft+building%2Caps%2C125&sr=8-3 Assembly required, but I find this useful for smaller planes.
  19. I really want to see a new tool 1/48 B-26 Marauder. After that, new tool B-25B through J models, also in 1/48. ICM did a fantastic job with the Invader kits, so I know they would be the best choice to produce them. Also, they are about the same size as the Invader, so it would make sense for them to produce the Marauder and B-25's.
  20. Proxxon variable speed rotary tool along with the converter it needs. Also get a set of diamond grinding bits. The diamond bits can be found on amazon for around $10 or so.
  21. I use this. It's pretty much the same and you can find it on amazon. But, it's a little pricy as most of them are. Also, the DAP rapid fuse ca glue he mentions can be found on amazon as well, I believe.
  22. https://lm.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.usatoday.com%2Fstory%2Fnews%2Fworld%2F2022%2F04%2F04%2Fworlds-largest-aircraft-ukraine-wreckage%2F7270638001%2F&h=AT1iC33Mm44rIDuSlsNJ5lx90WgPqEBfatqfy_-a2W_JNPDJl6MufxHNrYiDZweA2106YtsqNLvX8NvR3OcKYaJ3MSkA3opF7hgxrAACZo-kb-DPIiY6JsxYz4QfrOrZL8G7 Such a sad sight.
  23. I have one, but it is too small to fit the lid in it.
