GreyGhost
Tell ya what, Karl. Assuming the patch you display as an avatar is real, see if you can find someone who was with VAQ-136 (or maybe someone with VA-115 might do) back in '85-'88. Karl was like in Junior High ... Seriously, who is this Yahoo ? Anyone ? Gregg Edited November 22, 2006 by Ken Middleton

Frank Steffens
Seriously, who is this Yahoo ? Anyone ? ;) Gregg Probably someone who didn't do well at the promotion boards in '88 and didn't make LCDR, thus ending an unremarkable career. If he's still lashing out at people (actually three people who are incredibly accomplished in their careers) nearly 20 years later, perhaps therapy is needed. Leezure
Great series of photos! I was there in support of the AAHF Cobra Demonstration team and can add two interesting points. 1. When we were on approach to runway 25 on Thursday afternoon (Army CV2 Caribou) we were told to follow the B1 bomber. As he landed we were told to change our approach to runway 19. After we landed we noticed the fire trucks and emergency response vehicles headed out to the B1 which had stopped on runway 25. Evidently they had blown two tires and exploded one wheel upon landing. The aircraft remained on the runway until sometime Friday night when it was towed to the static display section of the airfield. Fast forward to Saturday's F18 incident... 2. As I was standing guard for the Huey rides (we were operating from a spot in front of the B1) the F18 blew his tire spun and ended up at our end of the flight line. As if on cue the B1 crew came out to get a better look and said "scratch them off the list of people that can give us a ration of S$@# for blowing a tire". This was followed by a number of comments regarding the condition of Navy runways and a few good hearted high fives. All was said in good fun as they had been the unfortunate star of the show up until that moment. Anyway, thanks for the pictures. Keep up the good work!

Karl Sander
Could always be worse. You could be trying to land on RWY 25 here - with a 15 kt tailwind... in which case you might not stop till the BOQ. Edited November 22, 2006 by Karl Sander

Av8fan
See, Now if the brake system was attached to the control yoke/stick like some WWII aircraft..... I remember screwing up in high school in a 2 axis flight slimulator. Part of the course was to "take off" and do a circuit. I was pretty nervous and placed my feet too high up on the pedals.. Basically trying to "balance" the pedals. Of course I couldnt. The simulator stayed in a slow left skid for lack of a better term. The instructor couldnt understand it till he put it together and asked about my foot positioning. He didnt ask me to take the controls again. Nope, didnt pass that particular test. Captstevens
as a former Naval Aviator and retired Airline pilot CAL 33 Yrs(A4's)VA-93 Westpac 64-65 Uss Ranger 65-66 Uss Enterprise: it is NOT Always pilot Error! everyone is so Quick to yell pilot error on any mishap!! I escorted a squadron mate to Cubi off the enterprise with a hung 1000 lb bomb, he elected to take the gear, all in all a sound decision, with such a large asymetrical load on landing he did a 720 degree spin after taking the gear, spit out the wire and stopped it on the runway, a rather exciting ride! I watched the entire episode cirling over head. I also had a nose wheel tire blow on landing aboard ship once, there aren't any brakes on the nosewheel of the A4-C!! probably got cut running over a cross deck pendent or FOD!
