Zmey Smirnoff
Excellent news. Thanks for posting photos. I was lurking on sukhoi.ru forum hoping they'll be the first to post pics. They failed.
raptor22
Nice pics! My only minor critique... the photographer might want to clean his lens :o
MiG31
Those are great shots in any event. Hopefully we'll get to see a full top-down view of this beast pretty soon. I'm also curious to see if they've changed anything like wing area and intake size. The filled-in flap and slat seams are interesting, too, though I read about them months ago. David Walker
Interesting scheme on this Flanker. Really a unique look. Great looking plane.
janman
Awesome! Still a beautiful looking yet - and now with such a special camo. The formation lights seem to be a feauture of the RusAF planes as well in the future. At least this one has them.
GreyGhost
Jan, If I remember correctly, the Malaysian Flankers have the formation lights also ... Gregg Edited February 21, 2008 by GreyGhost
janman
Jan, If I remember correctly, the Malaysian Flankers have the formation lights also ... Gregg I'm aware of that. The first time I saw them on a plane still belonging to Russians though.
speedlimit
Nice shot and thanks for the pics. I can see a new topic for modeling coming our way with this one as a subject. Eric

mario krijan
Ken you now know what you must do: again and again build first this variant of Su-27! :D :D
Josh1971
I thought this thing was already flying.
Flankerman
I thought this thing was already flying. Nope - it was displayed at MAKS, Zhukovsky, last August, where I took this photo .... (more photos from that trip here) .... but its maiden flight was only a couple of days ago. Don't get confused between this new 'Su-35' (also known as the Su-27BM) - and the 'old' Su-35 Super Flanker..... They are not the same machine - this new one is a major upgrade (hence the initials BM - for 'BIG Modification') of the existing Su-27 airframe with new radar & avionics, some new lighter structures and TVC engines. A much more capable aircraft. Ken
ross blackford
:o Wonder when we'll see the first model on the shelves, along with a kit of the Su-30MK. Cheers, Ross.
Zmey Smirnoff
Note the absence of dielectric panel on top of the fin. The electronic innards of that plane must be completely different from any previous prototypes.
svaz
Now I'm all discombobulated. This article claims that today was the first flight of the -35, and it's a family model. -35UB (the new -35UB)? Maybe this is the 3rd -35 and we really mean it this time? http://www.alert5.com/2008/07/russias-su-3...akes-first.html

Flankerman
here is another link:http://pilot.strizhi.info/2008/07/07/5508 nice shots!! Ken: when we will see yours 901 ;) Mario..... I have saved all the published photos (so far). I am just debating whether to go ahead and convert the Airfix Su-27 - or wait for Trumpeter to (hopefully) produce a decent Su-27 in 1:72 scale. Interesting detail bits from the photos - what is that massive raised 'strap' over the fuselage spine?? - here ?? As soon as I get some time - I'll try and have a go at making one......
