volzj
I've wanted to do something like this for quite awhile and finally got around to putting it all together. The kit is the Fujimi 1/72 A-6E TRAM, pretty much straight from the box, with a replacement metal pitot, and Superscale decals. paints are Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics. To put her in landing configuration required cutting out the flaps and wingtip speedbrakes; Fuijimi gives you the deployed slats option out of the box. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the fuselage and inserted a brass tube, which holds the clear acrylic rod which is glued into a hole in the base. The base is a simple plaque from A.C. Moore, with a styrene deck, which I painted and weathered with airbrushed acrylics and pastels. The arrestor cable is picture hanging wire, colored with Blacken-it. A REALLY fun project!! :) Edited August 19, 2012 by volzj
