OK Paul here goes... I know we were shooting for a Mike but based on what crappy reference i could find its going to have to be an F... This kit was a recent gift from the same good friend who got me started on ARC, so its fitting that this is my first build post. I'ce decided to go with an aggressor scheme on this one. Some very minor mods but essentially oob... Bastardized hobbycraft/hasegawa seat, hasegawa IP and coaming... to fit in the cheesy modded sci fi cockpit (those are F-15 side panels chopped and laminated over the stock armrests)... ugly spaces to fix... hasegawa can

My first group build entry
1/48 scale pilot replied to John B's topic in Airshow Demonstration Team Group Build
Sounds like it would work but also like a lot of steps to take for a landing light. I would mask the lens with elmers glue, paint the reflector with a medium bright silver acrylic, (aluminum maybe) then white over that. future over the while thing once you rmove the masking and it should turn out fine... -

I wouldnt worry so much about the texture in 1/72...tarmacs arent the roughest surfaces in the world and in that small scale even the slightest texture would translate into about a gravel road... ive scribed lines in a sheet of styrene and with a little light gray paint, some "cracks" cleverly placed,a bit id light pitting with a dremel here and there, some quick simple masked lines and roundels, and a LOT of dead flat overcoat, ive been perfectly happy with the results and had a nice display ready to go in about 45 minutes total invested...

A length of nylon thread can be pulled gently over curved surfaces to pretty good effect, just use care as caudleryan said not to over do it and crack the putty. Bondo tends to be pretty strong so I think it can handle a bit, but be really careful of scribing lines that are close together, they'll be more likely to crack or flake off surface area...

I have the same problem. I've been modeling since I was 9, and never stopped. I can remember back then getting a model and completing it that night... ahh the good ol' days. So now I keep Public Storage in business to keep all the plastic i've accumulated over the decades...

Glad to hear He's on the mend :) I like the badger but my old 150 ( i think thats what it is- circa 1988) is a bit in need of parts. Lately using a pair of paasche's or Aztec...I know I know I like the sound of the $20 brush- Im in the market for something basic and breakable for my 12 year old kid, he's ready to step up to try his hand at airbrushing his kits. So whats the next project? Derek

i use a basic padded office chair on wheels, but i try to stand as much as i can while working on projects- get up and move around often and stretch. armrests can be good or bad- i dont like them because i tend to lean on one or the other and that might worsen the pains you're having if you do the same. The height of the chair can make a big difference too- dont sit too high or too low. Hope you had a good thirtieth! Congrats!

These are looking really nice Darren! I have 2 monogram j's and a hasegawa s that could all use a bit of love. I'll be in for at least enough to take care of those. Keep up the great work!
