  1. What I'm wondering is why weren't there any Dan Aykroyd or John Candy planes??? I'd love to see Elwood Blues and Del Griffiths plastered up on some tails. Eric
  2. Welcome to the forum! Regarding the glue question, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Testors tube glue you have. Do NOT throw it out. It's the same brand I've been using for longer than I can remember and it has performed flawlessly. Yes there are other glues that require different application techniques. Some glues are better suited for specific situations but, in general, you'll be 100% fine with Testor's tube glue. This coming from a guy who has used Testor's, Ambroid, Tenax, various super glues (aka "CA" glues) and whatnot. I like to use them all. One is not "better" than
  3. I wonder if I'm one of the lucky few. I've placed many orders with Squadron over the years and not once have I ever had a single problem come up. I place the order. The order shows up. End of story. I hope you get your issue resolved. I think we all have the sad misfortune of knowing what it's like to have bad customer service but the company is only way too happy to take your money. I hope your order shows up soon. Eric
  4. For sale: 1/48 scale Monogram "visible" B-17G along with the following aftermarket sets.... True Details set 48508 Bombardier Section resin True Details set 48509 Cockpit Set resin Eduard 49362 Rear Interior color photo etch Eduard FE337 Cockpit color photo etch The whole works for $100 and I'll ship it for free within the continental U.S. and Canada. FYI, I'm in Green Bay, WI so the package might be a little cold when it arrives. Speaking of packages, the box has been opened but the individual bags are still sealed. Eric
  5. I've often pondered that very same question. I haven't had a chance to experiment with the look of it yet but I wonder if some strategically brushed on Future might work. I've always wanted to build a winter scene of an F4U Corsair on a carrier. I've seen some pics of Corsairs with their cockpits covered and snow on the plane. I thought it looked really cool (no pun intended). Eric
  6. Robertson, you are completely wrong. Did you NOT read the product description where it said it had "authentic details"??? If it says it, then it must be. And yes, I was saying the above with great sarcasm. I don't mean to stir up a "Nose-gate" but the nose cone just doesn't seem to be right. I know there was a big flap about the Academy F-4B nose. There must be something about aircraft noses that is so difficult to get right. Eric
  7. Here in tropical Green Bay, WI I've got about 6" - 8" in the back yard right now. They're calling for another 3" - 6" starting after midnight tonight. Eric
  8. I'm the opposite of ModelerX. I sit all day long at work so when I built my own workbench, I have it at stand-up height. If I decide to sit, I have a tall bar stool upon which I sit. If I had to estimate, I'd say that, while modeling, I stand about 85% of the time, sit 14% of the time and on my hands and knees looking for dropped parts about 1% of the time. Eric Edit: After thinking about it, part of what you decide might depend on how you have your man cave set up. For example, my bench is set up in the basement underneath the stairs. I store my paints and reference books/mags on a sh
  9. I think I'd be happy with the milk crates and ropes if they would make people dress up like they did in the "old days". If you want to travel on an airline, men must wear suits and ties. Women must wear a comparable outfit with white gloves. Eric
  10. On a more positive note, I hope that the prices on this and any future 1/32 P-61 come down a little bit. The Black Widow is my all-time favorite aircraft of all time. I'd definitely make sacrifices to have this one in my collection. I might have to go back to donating plasma but it just might be worth it once I open up that box and see the giant bits of plastic waiting to be put together! Eric
  11. Completely agree. I know that there's a bit more involved but it still comes as sticker shock when my ears hear the jump from sixty-some-odd dollars all the way up to two-hundred-and-some-odd dollars. I mean, it completely skipped right over the $100 range! I remember as a kid having a Revell P-51 in both 1/48 and 1/32 scale. Maybe I paid $12 for the 1/48 version but I don't remember paying $48 (4x $12) for the 1/32 version. I might have paid closer to $30 instead. Weren't the Great Wall P-61s about $98 in 1/48 scale? I can't imagine a 1/32 GW version coming out for $392. I can only im
  12. I wonder how come the "Lady in the Dark" outfit is blue in the 1/48 offering but red in the 1/32 offering. It's also amazing to see how you can scale up a plane by just a little bit and it's enough to make the price quadruple. Eric
  13. Are dash cams a standard feature on Russian cars or something? Eric
  14. How on earth did they get footage of my pajamas??? Eric
  15. I just found the plane you were talking about. It puts my 1/144 Hornets to shame! I really gotta step up my game if I'm going to get any of my stuff to look as nice as that one. Eric
  16. But once you drive it off the lot, it's only worth about $200,000,000.00. Eric
  17. Will it come with raised or engraved panel lines? How long will it be before someone complains about how the shape "just doesn't look right"? Will there be an article about how someone kitbashed it to turn it into a casserole? Will there be a niche of modelers who only build German food? Eric
  18. VERRRRRRRY misleading subject heading. I thought Jennifer Aniston was going to be appearing at a model show in which case I would definitely plan on showing up even if it meant I had to enter an unpainted Snap-Tite. Eric
  19. The man rides a bicycle. My 9 year old rides a bicycle. I don't understand how this guy gets all the attention he gets. But like they say, any publicity is good publicity. As long as he can keep his name in the public eye, he'll be able to earn a living. It's a sad commentary on our society that a guy can lie as he swears an oath before God and Man, then tell the "truth" (?) on Oprah and people will still admire him. And all this simply because the man rides a bicycle. Ridiculous. Eric
  20. This is a very interesting bit of advice and I'm eager to give it a try on my drive home this evening. Back when I was 18 and a new driver, I remember two instances in particular where I was merging onto the highway and nearly sideswiped the car that was in the lane as I was merging into it. I checked my driver's side mirror, didn't see the car and started to merge. The honking of the car is what alerted me to the fact that I didn't see it in my blind spot. That was 25 years ago. I've been looking over my shoulders ever since. I don't know if this mirror trick will work but I'm willing t
  21. Sorry. Green Bay is full. There might be an opening or two next year but I'll pencil you in. Eric
  22. I always viewed the Y-wing fighter as the Bf 110 of the Rebel Alliance. Big, brutish, powerful, not as fast nor maneuverable but still packs a punch with the right pilot at the controls. Not going to be a game changer nor turn the tide but they'll knock down a couple bad guys before they themselves get taken out. Eric
  23. Where is this diorama? Can someone post a link or say where it is? Thanks, Eric
