  1. I believe availability might have been an issue as well. The Mirage F1s were still in use in their respective airforces at the time. The F-21 (Kfir C1) were phasing (or phased) out of Israeli's inventory then... Eric B
  2. I believe Trojan has it right and please allow me a few additions : Ejection seats : French aircraft (F1C and dual seat F1B) started their operationnal life with a Martin Baker Mk4b. They differ from the Mk4a Mirage III flew with and are close to the ejection seats that had been used in French Jaguars. The Mk4bs are different to Mk4as in that they have a cushion (or is it parachute) metal fairing at pilot shoulder level. Also Mirage F1 Mk4b had a double upper ejection ring when jaguars had a simple D ring. These aircraft were later refurbished with Mk10 seats and I believe F1CR and F1CT alway
  3. Hi ViperDoc Another question : do you mean 1/48th scale or 1/72nd scale? If 1/48th scale all Hasegawa boxing derive from the same tools. From the original F-14A Atlantic boxing to the latest F-14D boxings the basics are the same. This said the model has been reworked to add airframe and cockpit modifications with later versions (B and D). I also heard that the moulds were slightly revised in the cockpit area and this allows a slightly easier model construction. All the midlife corrections have been incorporated in the plastic moulds bar what I would call the 21st century modifications (ECM
  4. Murph, I am currently building an F-14D from the VF-2 boxing that was released a couple a years ago. I also built an F-14B from the VF-102 boxing some time ago and recently bought the VF-143 boxing. From what I know the reply to your question is no. My F-14D boxing allows me to build a F-14B but my F-14B boxing did not allow me to build an F-14D. Spécifics such as new seats, new dashboards, double chin pod were not included in the F-14B boxing. At the time (2 year timescale) the plastic had been updated (Hasegawa has been great with the F-14 series, wish they did the same with their F-
  5. Hi Beware I believe if you ask VF-2 and Low Viz and reply is TwoBobs you are talking about F-14D, not F-14A. For an F-14A in VF-2 low viz markings I'd seach the CAM ou Superscale ranges, but again the corresponding sheet might be sold out too. Regards EB
  6. Where/How do you buy/order them? Are there any possibilities to order online? I'd buy 2 or 3 - Greaaat decals and have you got other ref in your line for 72nd scalers? Great Job!! Eric B
  7. Wow, as for the VF-103 sheet, I am in for 2 or 3 sheets (no guys it doesn't mean 12 or 18 builds) Eric
  8. You welcome Keith Re reading my post it appears I wrote too fast and left a lot of typo errors. Sorry that. About the MALEV decals they are very well designed but I meant blue seems a tad too light too me but nothing to disregard this sheet. I ordered some more in the series (including the Aeroflot sheet) Cheers
  9. Hi I just received my first BOA sheets from Hannants today : CSA B737-400 and MALEV B737-300. They are very sharp and compare with the Liveries Unlimites decals for the level of enclosed details (wing escape ways, windhields, windowns, doors plus a number of markings. Although I have to use one on a model film seems to be very thin and once more I would compare with Liveries Unlimited again, size of the shets being quite the same again. I have flown MALEV in the past and blue seems a little to me. I bould both these sheets as a test and i will sure complete my collection; I would say re
  10. Hasegawa actually proceeded to the 1/72 scale F-14D model in different steps; IIRCtheir first atempt (bar prototypes) was the Vandy one boxing. I then was more of a F-14A+ or B as it had been released already + the resin twin chin pod. Then their was the VF-11 release (I believe) that introduced the newer sprue with NACES seats, new instrument panels, twin chin pod (exit the resin part). Fuselage parts remained the same then. Then they updated the fuselage parts in incorparating the antenna bumps forward of the glove vanes (VF-2 boxing). The last thing you might love to see would be a ne
  11. Hi JackMan I'd wait for the release of the "French Navy" boxing and use the F-8E - FN part as a guide. You'll know everything you need to know about conversions. Modifications must be around leading edge flaps, stabilator, antennas and fin fairing. Of these, both fin fairing types seem to be in the Academy boxing (original shorter rounder type for F-8E FN and longer square type for the later F-8P) so you can save yourself some efforts with a little wait. Regards Eric
  12. Wow; I love the compilation of aviation pictures and hey what's the music. Can you tell what the group and track title. Congratulations Cheers EB
  13. I have seen the Greeks of Ikarus producing an excellent job with their sheets about their Air Force, very complete and very up to date. Why not do something in the same style for the Turkish Air Force - more or less the same aircraft (F-104, F-4, F-16...). I'd be very interested. Regards EB
  14. I don't work for DACO either but they really do a great job. Might be slow but they are reliable. Personnally I have seen project pages of the F-14 book and it looks great. I am not in a position where I can give positive DACO information, but as a modeler, from what I heard or read around I would not expect the F-14 book before April 06. I heard about a B-1B book. I would not therefore expect the F-15 book before July-September 06. Owning their recent F-16, F-18 and T-38 books myself, although I am impatient, I know their F-15 and F-14 will be worth the wait. They will bring sharp photos,
  15. I saw the movie in France. It is very much in the Top Gun style, 20 years later. Aircraft are different of course being Mirage 2000s mostly. As for the original Top Gun movie the dogfights are not very real, you won't believe some parts of the scenario at all but hey we love aircraft on ARC and yes you'll love the pictures. From what I understand the major technical difference with Top Gun is that most real aircraft pictures were shot from the ground for "Topgun" whereas most pictures where shot from the air with aircraft using modified fuel tanks for "Les Chevaliers du Ciel (the Sky knigh
  16. Cool! you tried :D THANKS
  17. Thank you all for the info : but we are wondering about the new 1/72nd scale release - information anybody? Regards EB
  18. I noticed no photograph of Iranian Tomcats show them with additionnal fuel tanks whereas they are flown virtually everytime by USN F-14s. Were these tanks delivered to Iran?

    Dewoitine

Hi Contrary to German, Spanish, Italian or Hungarian languages to name a few, the English and French languages share the same characteristics that different spellings can be used for the same sound and the same spelling can be read differently. It is therefore different for me to translate the French pronunciation in English "spelling". Nonetheless I'll try Dewoitine should be read as da (a as in about) vwah (a as in car) teen or to make it close enough but simpler deh - vwah – teen. This is the most commonly used pronunciation. Some could argue that the name being of Northern France
  20. I believe there is just a small typing error I think FS30279 (tan color) should read FS30219 - Rest is OK to me Best regards Eric
  21. Hasegawa released several boxings of their F-104 series. I personnally have 4 different boxings, one for CFs. I am not sure this one still is on the marked. But the box had a small additionnal sprue for all CF specifics ie ECM bulges, thin wheels, no bulged doors etc.. If I remember well all Hasegawa boxing come with both bang seats types. Originally boxings were Canada type (CF), German type (G), Italian type (S) and Japanese type (J) of starfighters. More boxings might have been released but that would mean different decals only. And I forgot the two seater!! HTH Eric
  22. Airfix has an old mould but best start. You can add some aftermarket details (Airwaves comme to mind) Frog and Matchbox also had Buccaneers in their range. Frog is long discontinued. Matchbox : I do not know about the shapes but they had the old deep panel lines.
  23. Most often, aftermarket ACES seats are generic. They are not developed for specific models or specific types of aircraft. First of remember F-16 ACES differ in details to F-15 or A-10 seats. most obvious difference lays in the position of ejector rings. Several accessories manufacturers releases ACES seats (Noemaga, Pavla, True Details, Verlindon, Aires and possibly others). I tend to prefer True Details seats for my 1/72nd F-16s; They seem to be the right type for the aircraft. They certainly are too small technically (they markedly are the smallest 1/72nd scale ACES) but there is an adva
  24. Try www.hannants.co.uk they are Hannants from England and they have a real great choice of models and accessories. They also have a search engine and a research with (Item type) : decals (military aircraft (scale) : 1/32 (keywords) : F-14 raised a lot of answers to me. They accept bank cards - They are reliable - you acn order on line - you can view most of the items Try them Eric
  25. Depend if you already have your model or not. Aftermarket decals : For an A I believe Superscale had a sheet long long ago. I fear it's no longer available. Some are for F-14D (Superscale, Aeromaster, TwoBobs) although some might start to be difficult to find. The best thing I have in mind are two Carpena decals sheets for aircraft of the Carrier Air Wing (I believe it was on USS america at the time). One sheet is for Hi Viz aircraft and the other sheet is for Lo Viz aircraft. All types of aircraft were available (A-7, A-6, S-3, SH-3 ... and F-14As for both squadrons of the Air Wing). I ca
