  1. Good article and pretty much hits the nail on the head. I just finished his book "The Gamble" since I was there at the time and knew/saw a lot of what happened. Good read. That is the problem with Franks, Sanchez and Casey. They did not adapt to the environment. I have always opined that Franks did great with the tactical invasion of Iraq, but royally screwed up the strategic (I was there). Franks handed Sanchez the proverbial dodo sandwich. With little strategic vision (from both the White House as well as CENTCOM) and poor understanding of the environment, we were doomed to muddle thr
  2. Fort Worth now has a hobby shop. Hobbytown opened a new store about a mile north of I-20 on Hwy 183/AltaMere Drive. It is tucked the shopping center with Target. Plastic selection is modest (not as good as Arlington). Good selection of tools/paints. No after market stuff. Good RC support.
  3. I thought since Clinton, affairs were not only authorized, but encouraged! I heard Paula speak on her book tour back in the Spring. She definitely sounded like she had a lot of access and still communicated with him, though the below story seems to imply differently. This is an interesting story: http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/petraeus-resigns-cia-affair/2012/11/09/id/463573 Lots of interesting possibilities with what really happened. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
  4. Wow!! Looks like they made some improvements since I was there in 2002. Need to get back there.
  5. Great site. Here is some good data: http://a4skyhawk.org/content/technical-data http://a4skyhawk.org/2c/productionhistory.htm Enjoy!
  6. I hate shrinkage. http://www.sodahead.com/topic/shrinkage-george/?link=ibaf&q=&imgurl=http://images.sodahead.com/polls/001379987/shrinkage_xlarge.jpeg
  7. Thanks. I'm not a Harrier afficienado. I did have a buddy take a bunch of photos of the prototype in Alabama, so I'll have plenty of references. Guess I have to build another B Harrier.
  8. Craig, Did you finish? I was looking forward to the final product. I saved the WIP thread in case it got lost in the ether. I have a plan to build it as well. QQ: Why did you go with bashing two RM kits vs using the wings of a Hase kit? I've got all three. Just curious.
  9. Not necessarily. Unit TTPs could vary. If actually breaching, plow usually leads followed by roller to proof. If they were just fitted for possible use, the could be distributed throughout the unit, depending on the type of armor unit. If the tank is from a Divisional Cavalry Squadron, they usually weren't in the MTOE. Regimental Cavalry had them, but varied between Squadrons (we actually left our rollers in Kuwait in 2003). Armor battalions usually had a breach company designated. Most of the plows/rollers would be carried by the support platoon (HHC) until needed (fun stuff). Fun fact:
  10. I'm in the middle of building the Hasegawa F-86F and determined the Hase decals failed quality standards. I'd like to get a set of the Italeri's set if someone isn't using them. Otherwise, I have to repaint half my F-86 and go with a different version. Please PM if you can accomodate. Thanks in advance. Regards,
  11. Neat. Look forward to the article.
  12. Great pics! Need to get over there again. Great museum. Great seeing you again at the Nats, Chris.
  13. They are. I picked one up at the Nats. I'd reach out to MUROC or Sierra Hotel (who was with them there-they may know if you can't find the website).
  14. I know there are some AM out there for the reinforcements (Steel Beach?). Just some ideas: You could cut out of Tamiya Tape or electric tape. Another idea is to cut out of some super thin plastic sheeting.
  15. Which parts do you want? I have the Marauders portion (used the Sidewinders). More than happy to send to you.
  16. Recommendation is to have him check out the MWR facilities. He may have to call them all. That is the way I found out the one closet in Iraq. Unfortunately, things are getting leaner over there. Unless some individual starts something, it will be hit and miss. Hard to do with transitory nature of personnel to keep it sustained. Forgot to mention: Check the IPMS site. They may have the latest contact over there.
  17. Not sure about that. I remember freezing my buns off in a Bradley (no heater) in a hard blowing snow storm in Germany....though you won't get seasick.
  18. A favorite in many ways! Another loss of the greatest generation!
  19. With MM, I thin flat with laquer thinner. The laquer thinner allows the flat paint to "bite"the platic better. With gloss, I use mineral spirits. I'll caveat that by saying I'll prime with something else, usually something flat in which I'll rub it down smooth.
  20. Oops- Never saw the pic the first time I responded. Nice bird. That being said, it looked like the line was fairly straight between the white and grey. Looks like a soft edge.
