Is this what really happened? Certainly did. Concentrated defensive fire and made it difficult for fighters attacking the bombers to isolate singletons or small groups. Jay Chladek Posted July 30, 2011 Share Posted July 30, 2011 With 262s in the picture, it sounds like one of the missions being represented is the one to Berlin and back where the red tails reportedly tangled with and killed a couple jets and emerged victorious (scoring some of the very first 262 kills of the war). The markings of the German birds seem a little cartoony, but if the producers are going from the accounts of the pilots there (from the after action reports), I can believe them. Terrance Howard as Davis is an interesting bit of casting. His voice seems a bit more velvety than from what I remember General Benjamin O. Davis' voice being, but when he gets angry or fiery, he seems to be hitting on the right points. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Gives it that Romantic feeling I associate with WWII fighter pilots. As for the story itself, the success of these guys paved the way for the Civil Rights movement years later.
