Red Tails movie trailer is out!

It looks a little video gamey but it still looks damn good. I'll be seeing it for sure.

At least the computer animated flying looks realistic for the most part. Shame they just can't use real planes anymore since there aren't enough of them.

Wow, it's been awhile since I've been excited by a WWII movie as much as this one. Looks awesome!

For WWII air buffs (which I admit I am not one) some of those shots show what looks like dozens of bombers up at one time, flying in what seems to me to be close formation. Is this what really happened?

Certainly did.

Concentrated defensive fire and made it difficult for fighters attacking the bombers to isolate singletons or small groups.

Like mentioned already, that sort of formation flying definitely happened.

Here's a couple images I found using google that show pretty good what they did.

Thanks for the link to the trailer, that looks absolutely amazing. I'll definitely have to try catching it in the theater.

With 262s in the picture, it sounds like one of the missions being represented is the one to Berlin and back where the red tails reportedly tangled with and killed a couple jets and emerged victorious (scoring some of the very first 262 kills of the war). The markings of the German birds seem a little cartoony, but if the producers are going from the accounts of the pilots there (from the after action reports), I can believe them.

Terrance Howard as Davis is an interesting bit of casting. His voice seems a bit more velvety than from what I remember General Benjamin O. Davis' voice being, but when he gets angry or fiery, he seems to be hitting on the right points.

Oh hell yeah I'll be watching it and buying it on Bluray. Yes, it does have the Lucasfilms look, but I kind of like it. Gives it that Romantic feeling I associate with WWII fighter pilots. As for the story itself, the success of these guys paved the way for the Civil Rights movement years later.
