  1. I also hang out on a chinese forum for model building. I can confirm they love building US jets!
  2. Absinthe was valued by artists and bohemians because it could induce hallucinations. Powerful stuff, caveat emptor!
  3. Me too! It's tiny! Great work.
  4. Very nice Fulcrum in a scheme I have not seen before.
  5. I'm not. Spotting objects on the ocean is extremely difficult for a number of reasons. A constantly moving surface is just the start. Modern ideas are that if you're on the ocean and need to be spotted, you need to build a 'trail' and throw everything floatable (and non-essential) that you can into the water. It's a tough gig being a spotter! Great story, by the way.
  6. 'Views exceeded' I would have love to have seen these...
  7. Hate the movie, love your build of the model. The paintwork is fantastic.
  8. That Su-34 'Fullback' is simply stunning. Great photography!

    pilot help

I'm looking at bringing out some 1/72 modern pilots - resin. Hopefully have some news towards the end of the year.
  10. Lots of great pics. Here's one of my 3 little 'helpers'* *A couple of years ago when she just learned to walk, she managed to open one of my glass display cases. 3 builds trashed, lesson learned!
  11. Lucien, what do you need this for. You're one of the more experimentallly-oriented scratchbuilders here!
  12. I do like the design. The office up front looks like it gets a nice view.

    NMF's

Tamiya AS and TS metallics have the problem of metallic chip size, they go on easily enough, but never look 'in scale' to me. As for Hawkeye's Talon Acrylic, this sounds like amazing stuff, but I'm a bit concerned about the fact that you only need to sand to 800... it makes me wonder if, in order to fill in the surface that 800 will create, it's also going to fill in detail or 'smooth' detail I wouldn't want othewise smoothed? I guess, for the NMF it depends how reflective you want to get. If you're after a dull aluminium finish, there are a lot of ways to achieve this. However, if you're af
  14. I respectfully disagree. If you're doing Alclad 'Chrome' or 'Polished Aluminium', then Tamiya Black TS-14 gives a better finish. I've tried Tamiya's metallics for both Chrome and Polished Aluminium and they just didn't give the mirror-reflective final finish that TS-14 did. Perhaps it works fine for other Alclad metal finish colours. If you're just using 'aluminium' which has more of a matt finish, I'm sure AS-12 would be fine.
  15. I've used their gold film - it's great stuff. However, you can't put it over compound curves effectively, you get seams and crinkles. The biggest problem is that it's not paint. I just want to confirm something. Flyboyf18 points out a method to tint windows.... my efforts have not been just to 'tint' windows, but produce the metallic gold reflection as well. Any aforementioned techniques in this thread have not been able to do this.
  16. I haven't seen ANYONE's solution 'work fine'. No one has been able to get a proper reflective gold tint as far as I can see. There was a member of this forum who approached a contracting company who actually did this process for military birds, and was quoted some outrageous sum, which is probably good value for industrial work! I can't remember the details but I believe the canopy was bombarded with some metallic compound. The problem with ALL metallic solutions I have seen so far is the 'fleck' - or the size of the metal component in the paint, it always looks huge and out of scale. This
  17. Perhaps Diablo 3 will beat them all. I'm very, very cross with Valve. Portal 2 was a lot of fun, but I'm really, really hoping for a final boss fight with 'The Man in Black'...
  18. Why do we create such beautiful things for warfare? Anyway, thanks for those links. Such a good looking aircraft!
  19. Wow, that is quite incredible, great footage too.
  20. It's actually Helvetica Neue. Arial will do in a pinch as it was 'inspired' by Helvetica, however it's not exactly the same. Helvetica Neue is a newer 'corrected' version of the original Helvetica with a number of subtle differences which include rounder lowercase.
  21. Hi Barry Really like this, great styrene work! Post a few less pics though - there are also a LOT of repeated images in there, taking forever to load up page 1!
