Hi, this is my second Fine Molds Tomcat in 1/72. I have decided to represent an aircraft from IRIAF with wing, leading egde, flap, spoilers and aerobrake open. I have used Hasegawa wings (with some modification to represent the spoilers) and Fujimi pilots. Decals are from Print Scale (and some from Linden Hill). Sparrow and Sidewinder from Eduard. The colors are a huge mix of several Gunze reference (with a lot of trying). I have try to represent the correct camo from 3-6039 (according to a video and some picture from the same day as the video). Most of the camouflage has no blur e

Improving Hasegawa 1:48 Tomcat – 00: General considerations I am a proud rivet counter distinctly affected by Advanced Modeler Syndrome (AMS). At 57, I am chronic. Given that AMS is not a life threatening disease, I refuse every therapy, keeping digging deeper into this hobby in the utmost contempt for the “out of the box” approach. So far, I refused from posting my work here or on any other forum. Doing that requires additional time and challenging abilities, like photography. In addition, English is not my mother language. In other words, this is going to be my first In-Prog

Dear Modellers I finally managed to get this shake and bake kit together. Was a loong shaking period, thats for sure. Tamiya Kit in 1/48 scale. Eduard Cockpit inside with Quinta Decals, Reedoak Pilots, KA and Reskit exhaust mix. Nose cam and probes aftermarket, Eduard Missiles Models. Tamiya and Gunze acrylic colours and a lot of oils on top of it. No washing worth mentioning Enjoy Oh, it isn`t dead on accurate, but i don`t care (edit: anymore) I just wanted a grimey, grey Tomcat with the Skull n Bones-Scheme, since my wish for a Tomcat model

I really prefer to keep these in CONUS. Paypal preferred (friends and family works best, and if you have money in the paypal or an attached bank account there is no fee for either of us) but USPS MO works too. PM if interested. I really want to avoid EBAY and I'm trying to price these to move, but Ive also been out of the model buying game for sometime (SWMBO, KIDS, life etc) Ebay is getting insane, I prefer to sell them here. I have much much better experiences here on ARC anyway, and its a true blessing. lastly like everything the price of shipping has gone up. I am as unhappy a

Build 9 of 2020 is the Hobbyboss kit with Wolfpak Decals to represent an F-14A from VF-41 Black Aces. Callsign 'Fast Eagle 107' is 1 of 2 F-14As that shot down a pair of Libyan Sukhoi Su-22 Fitters during the 'Gulf of Sidra Incident' in 1981. My build shows how Fast Eagle 107 was configured right before the encounter. Compared to the Hasegawa this kit has a simplified parts breakdown so it builds faster. But it has some fitting issues on the intakes, tail and windshield. The starboard AIM-9 rail is slightly modified to show an empty rail. Painted with ac

Hello! One of my many Tamiya Tomcats will be carrying a TARPS pod. When flying recce, the F-14 frequently carried the ALQ-167 "Bullwinkle" pod, as well as the Expanded Chaff Adapter [ECA], which allowed the aircraft to carry more chaff and flare cartridges and was fitted into one of the Phoenix rails. So here are my questions: Does anyone know where a decent photo of the ECA would be? Google gives me some low-res drawings and a few views of the underside of the Tomcat in flight, but nothing good enough to go by when converting a bomb rack to an ECA. I'm trying t

Hi All, Here are two more completed illustrations. Illustration 1 depicts a F-14A from VF-1, which shot down an Iraqi Mi-8 during Op.Desert Storm. Illustration 2 depicts a F-14A from VF-41, which shot down a Libyan Su-22. More work of mine can be found here:PRESS

I was gifted the Tamiya 1/32 Tomcat kit when a friend passed away. Unfortunately the decals are in pretty rough shape. I am wiling to pay for a decent set of early F-14A decals (partial sheets are OK as long as there is enough for 1 aircraft. Thanks for looking. I am in BC Canada.

I need your help. I remember a thread about the three different styles of Tomcat main wheels but I cannot locate it despite having searched through all F-14 threads since last fall. Last weekend I tried modifying a set of Tamiya main wheels with half of the white metal hubs from a Hasegawa F-14, but now I have my doubts as to whether or not I used the correct wheel hubs. Can someone help me out here? Thanks in advance, Jens

Okay it seems that starting a topic like this inevitably gets Zactoman going so here goes: How long do we have to wait for correctly shaped INTAKES for the Trumpeter 1/32 F-14? Hey, it worked for Rafael Winter with the Flanker. Seriously, I'll buy you the donor kit plus guarantee at least my order plus pay whatever else you want if you'll take this one on.

Dear Fellow Modellers There maybe a thread you can direct me too, but what is the consensus on who makes the most attractive F-14 Tomcat in 1/72. I think I last made one from Airfix in the early 1970s (oops) Thanks Andrew

Hi all! Here is my latest completed project, the Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat in NSAWC "Flanker" adversary scheme, NAS Fallon 1999. As you know, this is the notorious Hasegawa Tomcat. This is my second one, and I learned quite a bit from my first try. I deviated from the directions in three key places: 1. Intake Assembly 2. Fuselage Join 3. Beaver Tail Attachment Basically what I did was to install the intake trunking BEFORE putting the inner ducting in. This allowed me to get a fantastic join of the intake trunking, which gave me fits

This is something I have been trying to put my finger on. It isn't like a Spitfire or a Mustang or perhaps a Phantom II that got their credentials in combat not to mention they are great looking aircraft. . Correct me if I am wrong but the F-14 has 4 shoot-downs to its credit. Hardly an ace-maker. However the kit makers keep making new kits of this aircraft. I don't have anything against it myself. I like the Tomcat a lot, and I have the kits to prove it but I don't know why I am attracted to it. It does present a multitude of colorful markings. It was a ground breaking aircraft in its

I was browsing the web and found this image of the VF-84 on Cloud9 (http://www.cloud9photography.us/keyword/VF84 pictures / i-hcLfMLT / A). I've never seen a Jolly with a tan and white nose. The edge of the glass is gray, not black. I did not find any other image with that white stripe on the nose. And I would like to know BuNo of this bird! Can someone help me?

Hi all, Had a bit of a clear out from the loft and came across a couple of plastic beauties, the ERTL KC-135A and Real KC-10 with Tornado IDS.
